This document summarizes a research study that analyzes cantilever retaining walls with and without a column-beam system. The study involves designing both a simple cantilever retaining wall (CRW) and a column-beam cantilever retaining wall (CBCRW) for various heights from 3 to 9 meters using manual calculations, STAAD Pro software, and Excel spreadsheets. The results show that while the CBCRW has higher bending moments in the columns, it requires less reinforcement in the stem and has lower overall construction costs than the CRW. Therefore, the study concludes that the CBCRW is a more economical design for taller retaining walls.
