This document summarizes a research study that evaluated the tribological properties of aluminum LM26 metal matrix composites reinforced with silicon carbide particles. Specifically, it: 1) Fabricated aluminum LM26 composites with 5%, 10%, and 15% silicon carbide reinforcement by weight using stir casting. Samples were tested on a pin-on-disk tribometer under loads of 40-60N, sliding velocities of 2-6m/s. 2) Testing results showed that wear rate increased with increasing load but decreased with higher silicon carbide content, providing improved wear resistance.
