application have been evaluated based on five different

A conceptual framework for measuring the usability characteristics of mobile learning (m-Learning)
application has been developed. Furthermore, a software prototype for smartphones to assess usability
issues of m-Learning applications has also been designed and implemented. This prototype has been
developed, using Java language and the Android Software Development Kit, based on the recommended
guidelines of the proposed conceptual framework. The usability of the proposed model was compared to a
generally available similar mobile application (based on the Blackboard) by conducting a questionnairebased survey at Western University. The two models were evaluated in terms of ease of use, user
satisfaction, attractiveness, and learnability. The results of the questionnaire showed that the participants
considered the user interface based on our proposed framework more user-friendly as compared to the
Blackboard-based user interface.

LaptopLender is a product that enables reducing the number of PCs in classrooms in the near future. Metropolia is able to create a PC classroom whenever or wherever it is needed on any of the campuses where LaptopLender is installed.
One of the tasks of the thesis was to research and define the functional and technical
specifications required to create such a service. To accomplish that, knowledge of how an institution of higher education functions, information with regard to course enrolment and
its resource reservation processes must be researched.
The usage of the computers was researched to gain knowledge of how PC classrooms were really used. In addition, the utilisation of the current laptop lending machines were also inspected. The outcome of this research was that the PC usage reporting was also
improved.
LaptopLender usage is not limited to education environments exclusively. Libraries could also use a machine to lend laptops to their users. Hotels and conference centres could have lendable laptops for their guests as an add-on service. In more secure environments, the lender could be paired to the access control system. For example, no one with a borrowed laptop could leave the premises without returning their borrowed laptop first.
In conclusion, the automated and unmanned LaptopLender provides a flexible and secure method to lend laptops in a variety of environments.

In this study, we developed mobile application for lecturers to take students’ attendance in City University, Petaling Jaya. Managing students’ attendance during lecture periods has become a difficult challenge. The research objectives for this study are to identify user requirement for City i-Tick, to design and develop City i-Tick, and to demonstrate the prototype of City i-Tick. The study is a narrative participatory design and exploits Design Thinking as the research methodology. City i-Tick was successfully validated by 14 lecturers and System Usability Scale (SUS) was used to determine the findings of the study. We found that City i-Tick is effective for lecturers in taking attendance because it is easy to use, easy to learn, and the users feel confident when using this application.

Industrial Installation Skills Acquired and Job Performance of Graduates of E...theijes
This study was conducted to determine level of skills acquired and job performance of graduates of electrical installation and maintenance work (EIM) trade of technical colleges in industrial installation in north eastern Nigeria with a view of finding information that will help solve low level of skill acquisition and job performance of the graduates in order to sustain the graduates’ human and job security for national development. The study was guided by two research questions and one hypothesis. Descriptive survey research design based on core self-evaluation was used for the study. The population for the study consisted of 313 graduate of electrical installation and maintenance work trade and 82 work place supervisors in 33 public establishment in north eastern Nigeria. The entire population was used for the study. Two sets of structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Each of the questionnaires has 32 items in four task cluster within two major sections. The instrument was validated by three electrical technology lecturers form ModibboAdama University of Technology, Yola and three EIM teachers and workshop based supervisor each from government science and technical college and federal ministry of works and jos respectively. The entire validated instrument was tested for internal consistence using the cronbach Alpha method which yielded reliability coefficient of 0.85. The data for the study were analyzed using the mean, mean of means and z-test statistical methods using the SPSS 17.0 for windows. Findings of the study include among others that the graduate of electrical installation and maintenance works trade of technical colleges in north eastern Nigeria moderately acquired skills in installation of MICC cables and slightly acquired skills in installation of ducks and trunking task clusters respectively of the industrial installation module. While the graduate exhibited moderate level of job performance in installation of MICC cables and low job performance in installation of ducks and trunking tasks clusters, there was no significance difference in the mean response of graduate and supervisor on level of job performance of graduate in industrial installation module as a whole. It was recommended among others that government should provide adequate training facilities at the technical colleges especially on the task clusters that the graduates were deficient in. On the job remedial training should be provided by employers to remedy the very low skills acquired by graduates of EIM in some task clusters in industrial installation

are more powerful and portable with plenty of useful tools for assisting people handle daily life.
The main objective of this paper is to develop a mobile application that solves the problems
facing bus drivers and parents when parents do not show up, and when kids wait for a long
time. The application also produces the current drivers map to be used for bus fleet
management purposes. The application makes use of the location service on Android to specify
the current location of the driver, and the Google’s cloud to device messaging to push
approaching notifications to parents. The application is developed using an Extreme
Programming (XP) based methodology that performs the analysis, design, implementation, and
testing iteratively.

LaptopLender is a product that enables reducing the number of PCs in classrooms in the near future. Metropolia is able to create a PC classroom whenever or wherever it is needed on any of the campuses where LaptopLender is installed.

specifications required to create such a service. To accomplish that, knowledge of how an institution of higher education functions, information with regard to course enrolment and
its resource reservation processes must be researched.
The usage of the computers was researched to gain knowledge of how PC classrooms were really used. In addition, the utilisation of the current laptop lending machines were also inspected. The outcome of this research was that the PC usage reporting was also
improved.
LaptopLender usage is not limited to education environments exclusively. Libraries could also use a machine to lend laptops to their users. Hotels and conference centres could have lendable laptops for their guests as an add-on service. In more secure environments, the lender could be paired to the access control system. For example, no one with a borrowed laptop could leave the premises without returning their borrowed laptop first.
In conclusion, the automated and unmanned LaptopLender provides a flexible and secure method to lend laptops in a variety of environments.

This paper presents City i-Tick, the android based mobile application for students’ attendance at a university. In this study, we developed mobile application for lecturers to take students’ attendance in City University, Petaling Jaya. Managing students’ attendance during lecture periods has become a difficult challenge. The research objectives for this study are to identify user requirement for City i-Tick, to design and develop City i-Tick, and to demonstrate the prototype of City i-Tick. The study is a narrative participatory design and exploits Design Thinking as the research methodology. City i-Tick was successfully validated by 14 lecturers and System Usability Scale (SUS) was used to determine the findings of the study. We found that City i-Tick is effective for lecturers in taking attendance because it is easy to use, easy to learn, and the users feel confident when using this application.

Industrial Installation Skills Acquired and Job Performance of Graduates of E...theijes
This study was conducted to determine level of skills acquired and job performance of graduates of electrical installation and maintenance work (EIM) trade of technical colleges in industrial installation in north eastern Nigeria with a view of finding information that will help solve low level of skill acquisition and job performance of the graduates in order to sustain the graduates’ human and job security for national development. The study was guided by two research questions and one hypothesis. Descriptive survey research design based on core self-evaluation was used for the study. The population for the study consisted of 313 graduate of electrical installation and maintenance work trade and 82 work place supervisors in 33 public establishment in north eastern Nigeria. The entire population was used for the study. Two sets of structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Each of the questionnaires has 32 items in four task cluster within two major sections. The instrument was validated by three electrical technology lecturers form ModibboAdama University of Technology, Yola and three EIM teachers and workshop based supervisor each from government science and technical college and federal ministry of works and jos respectively. The entire validated instrument was tested for internal consistence using the cronbach Alpha method which yielded reliability coefficient of 0.85. The data for the study were analyzed using the mean, mean of means and z-test statistical methods using the SPSS 17.0 for windows. Findings of the study include among others that the graduate of electrical installation and maintenance works trade of technical colleges in north eastern Nigeria moderately acquired skills in installation of MICC cables and slightly acquired skills in installation of ducks and trunking task clusters respectively of the industrial installation module. While the graduate exhibited moderate level of job performance in installation of MICC cables and low job performance in installation of ducks and trunking tasks clusters, there was no significance difference in the mean response of graduate and supervisor on level of job performance of graduate in industrial installation module as a whole. It was recommended among others that government should provide adequate training facilities at the technical colleges especially on the task clusters that the graduates were deficient in. On the job remedial training should be provided by employers to remedy the very low skills acquired by graduates of EIM in some task clusters in industrial installation

This study examines the effect of response reduction factors (R factors) on reinforced concrete (RC) framed structures through nonlinear dynamic analysis. Three RC frame models with varying heights (4, 8, and 12 stories) were analyzed in ETABS software under different R factors ranging from 1 to 5. The results showed that displacement increased as the R factor decreased, indicating less linear behavior for lower R factors. Drift also decreased proportionally with increasing R factors from 1 to 5. Shear forces in the frames decreased with higher R factors. In general, R factors of 3 to 5 produced more satisfactory performance with less displacement and drift.
