YuWaah! aims to enable sustained and coordinated investments to co-create solutions for learning (including alternative and flexible learning programmes), life and employability skills, career guidance and employment opportunities (including entrepreneurship). The target of the partnership is on adolescents and young people in school (25 million), out of school (20 million) and in institutions (4 million).
“What we need is to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit in India, especially encourage women entrepreneurs. Gender parity is essential for our growth” We will be supporting 500 innovation labs in the next three years, unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit of India”, said NITI Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant.
The current workforce in India is 480 million, of whom 93 per cent (446 million) are employed in small, informal-sector enterprises. More than 60 per cent (288 million) are employed in rural India. In addition, 90 per cent of India’s workforce has received no formal skills training. In the next twenty years, India’s current population of 444 million children will enter the working age. India will have a huge task to equip these adolescents with marketable skills.
YuWaah! aims to support this massive exercise by bringing together key stakeholders to recognize, design and implement solutions to expand employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for education, skills, decent jobs and sustainable livelihoods – that are accessible to all.
“Despite significant progress for children in their first decade of life — through reduced child mortality and increased access to primary school — tens of millions of adolescents in India are not getting the support that they need through their second decade of life. And this is especially true for girls, migrants, children with disabilities, and those belonging to historically disadvantaged communities,” said Ms Fore during her interaction with young people at the consultation.
In addition to this, Ms Fore also recognized three big opportunities in India: scaling-up flexible education options; expanding social-protection programmes; and supporting young people supporting other young people.
Over 60 adolescents and young people from various parts of India, including from the most marginalized groups Dr. K.P Krishnan, Secretary, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; Ms Rina Ray, Secretary, School Education and Literacy; Dr. Amarendra Kumar Dubey, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, along with representatives from the private sector, UN agencies and civil society organizations were present at the occasion.
Youth Empowered Solutions (YES!) is a nonprofit organization that empowers youth to create community change. YES! implements the theory of youth empowerment through a three-pronged model focusing on skill development, critical awareness, and opportunities for youth. YES! trains youth and adults, and hires high school students as employees to advocate for policy change. YES! uses outcomes-based evaluation to show that youth develop empowerment skills and become long-term change agents. The organization empowers youth at the individual level while also functioning as an empowered organization that influences policy through youth participation in decision-making.
This document discusses social responsibility in higher education institutions. It explores the concept of University Social Responsibility (USR), which focuses on the impacts of learning and research at universities. The study examines perceptions of social responsibility among students at a private university in Puerto Rico through a survey. USR is important for developing socially responsible professionals and strengthening the relationship between universities and their internal and external stakeholders. Universities can enhance quality of life by actively contributing to sustainable development in society through teaching, research, and engagement with communities.

PDF Scanning environment for startegic intervention for youthMosharaf Hossain
The document discusses strategic interventions for youth in Jharkhand, India. It identifies the following key issues through discussions with youths: lack of higher education attainment, limited livelihood opportunities, poor sexual and reproductive health, and feelings of exclusion. These issues are interrelated and perpetuate intergenerational poverty. The document analyzes the issues thematically and outlines them under the categories of higher education, livelihood, health, and protection. It prioritizes the issues and presents a vision statement by youth in Palamu district to attain at least 12th grade education, job/trade training, sufficient income, health knowledge, and community participation.
The concept of children‟s participation has evolved over the last decade but the notion, either in theory or in practice, has not been able to make a significant dent in the collective mindset of the social and political institutions and the individuals who comprise of them. Most initiatives and interventions have arguably been confined to children‟s rights organizations and activists, and need to be appreciated and accepted by the mainstream society and the state in order to be scaled up. This is largely because of a lack of conceptual understanding and the appreciation of the value and practicability of children‟s participation.

Positive youth development is a philosophy that emphasizes supporting young people's competence, usefulness, belonging, and empowerment. It works best when communities provide a continuum of services and opportunities for youth to develop into healthy adults. Youth development focuses on relationships, skills-building, leadership, and community involvement rather than "fixing" troubled youth. Key elements include viewing youth positively, involving them in activities that build character and skills, and coordinating family, school and community support. Effective programs provide physical and psychological safety, structure, relationships, opportunities to belong, positive social norms, efficacy and skill-building support. Demonstrated programs include Beacons community centers, Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring, Coca-Cola Valued Youth

The fact that social media has become part our daily live cannot be overlooked especially in the current innovations in technology. Access to devices such as smart phones and broadband internet has created an easy way through which any one can access any form of information that they want. Although the social media has played a special role in ensuring that the information that we is at our disposal, it has resulted in serious erosion of human morals and ethics. It is not surprising that people value their phones more than they do to their fellow human. However, this research will look at how the young people have been impacted by the social media.
The current widespread of the social are becoming an area of interest among the researchers especially about how it has affected the community around the world. Almost every individual is connected to at least one social media plat form and this has attracted the researchers to learn more about these platforms and how they have affected the community around. However, the most affected are the teenagers who have become fanatics of these platforms and have made them part of their daily life to an extent they cannot spend a minute without accessing them. This has never implication on their ethics, behavior and even their education.
Social media has both positive and negative implications to the youths and this paper seeks to address these impacts with a special focus on the youths.
The positive impacts is that the youths can interact with one another without meeting physically across the globe and this has enhanced creation of friendship and therefore, strong social ties. Moreover, the youths stay updated on the events that happen around the world at the comfort of their rooms or working places. Also, many youths have made the social media a source of their income and have utilized it to improve their lives through improved connections.
Despite the good aspects connected to the social media, it has the negative side too and this has bad implications on the youths. To begin with, social media reduces face to interactions as they spend most of their time in these online platforms. This isolation result in psychological, emotional mental and physical effects to the youths. The minor are also introduced to immoral behaviors such as homosexuality, lesbianism and other sexual misconducts. Further, the youths are exposed to pornographic content which result in early pregnancies among the young girls and also increase the chance of contracting sexually transmitted infections.
A comprehension of these issues will help the society find ways through which to reduce the youth prevalence to the problems associated with sta.
The document discusses youth participation in development in Indonesia. It notes that Indonesia has a large youth population, with 33% under age 35, presenting an opportunity for development. However, many youth are unable to fully participate due to issues like limited education, health care, poverty, and unemployment. The document recommends investing in youth through education, life skills training, and health services to foster youth leadership and empowerment. It also stresses the importance of meaningful youth participation in decision-making to develop policies that meet their needs and ensure youth can help shape their own future.
The document discusses the social problem of poverty and how it relates to incarceration rates among minority groups. It argues that poverty predisposes disadvantaged groups like African Americans and Latinos to incarceration due to racial biases in policing and the criminal justice system. Poverty contributes to higher crime rates in poor neighborhoods and lack of access to resources like education and jobs. Discrimination in employment also makes it harder for disadvantaged groups to escape poverty, further increasing their likelihood of engaging in criminal behavior and incarceration.
This document discusses the key agents of socialization in the United States, including the family, peer groups, schools, and mass media. It explains that the family is usually the most important socialization agent, especially for young children, through both deliberate and unintended lessons. As children age, peer groups take on more influence in pre-teen and teen years. Schools also play a major role through both planned academic lessons and unplanned social interactions. Mass media, especially TV, is also influential through exposure but without personal contact. Total institutions like prisons aim to resocialize members by stripping their old identity and imposing a new one.
This article spotlights a collaborative partnership approach to develop and garner support for Healthy and Smart, a HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum strategy. Focus is purposely placed on an action research methodology based in theory and evidence. The programmatic method is incremental and encompasses a transdisciplinary and culturally appropriate approach. In particular, our method instigates effective social change and public policy by forming collaborative partnerships. The essence of collaborative partnerships with key public policy and administrative actors is its alignment with a nation’s social development policy position. Critical to the development of a comprehensive action research approach is investing time to explore each social factor fully. Healthy and Smart HIV/AIDS Prevention Program for Youth exemplifies a participatory program development model for public managers.
In today’s digital age, social media has become an integral part of the lives of teenagers. With a plethora of platforms available, it has transformed the way young people interact, communicate, and express themselves.
Women's empowerment refers to increasing women's spiritual, political, social and economic strengths, developing their confidence in their abilities, and gaining decision-making power and control over their lives. Empowerment involves gaining power through, with and within oneself. It is a process of building awareness, capacity and greater participation that allows women to get what they want and influence others. Educating girls and women is key to empowering them and has positive impacts for families and future generations. Empowerment also involves women gaining economic independence through work and control over resources as well as political participation and rights over their bodies and lives.
The document discusses youth empowerment programs. It explains that youth empowerment involves encouraging children and youth to take charge of their own lives by improving their access to resources and transforming their attitudes and beliefs. Effective youth empowerment programs maximize youth participation and can be initiated by various public and private organizations. Examples provided include programs that empower youth through community involvement, leadership opportunities, and education on social issues. Government bodies at all levels support youth empowerment through community programs and initiatives.

Introduction Illiteracy is the inability to read and write a.docxMargenePurnell14
Introduction
Illiteracy is the inability to read and write at an adequate level of proficiency that is critical for communication. Illiterate adults are unable to use printed and written information to function in the society so as to achieve one’s goals and also to develop one’s potential.
According to an international nonprofit ProLiteracy in 2003, there are 36 million adults in the United States alone. This potential includes a broad range of information-processing skills that one can use daily in school and at the community as a whole. Adult illiteracy has become a societal problem because illiterate people can never fully utilize writing and reading skills to make use of their fully potential in the world. The thesis statement of adult illiteracy involves reasons why it identified as a societal problem; the solutions proposed to solve this problem and the statistical information of adult literacy as the global societal problem.
Different types of society exist. These types of illiteracy are technological illiteracy, mathematical illiteracy, visual illiteracy, school illiteracy, community illiteracy and personal illiteracy. All these types of illiteracy are caused by various reasons. These reasons are summarized in the following discussion.
Causes of Adult Illiteracy
People are usually mistaken about illiteracy. School illiteracy is overvalued to the extent that many adults have started to believe the act of reading and writing are the only important things in school. It is this type of reasoning that make many adults less interested in wanting to gain more knowledge and see things beyond the negative images. This has become one of the main reasons why adult illiteracy has increased in the world over the last few years.
Another reason for adult illiteracy is the misuse of groups. Some people tend to agree with the argument that can make one believe that he or she is weak as a reader and he or she won’t be able to achieve literacy even after finishing school. This type of thinking lowers someone’s self-esteem and self-confidence meaning that the person will not bother to seek literacy help. People’s reading attitude are influential in literacy behaviors. According to McKenna in 2001, reading attitudes are influenced by factors such as a person’s social experiences with reading, one’s personal experiences, the cultural norms about reading, cultural norms and the learner’s preferences about reading. Attitude is associated with unwillingness to read. Every learning experience that a child has in school will at some point determine how that child will determine to learn. The learners who have had negative experiences in school will come to view school and learning in total as a bad experience that. This disengagement spreads over to adults. An adult learner who has negative perceptions about school would not want to be associated with it. These learners never get interested in educational process because they don’t see it as valuabl.
The document discusses guidelines for media to protect children when reporting or covering stories related to children. It provides principles for media to respect children's privacy, dignity, and best interests. Media should obtain consent from parents before interviewing or photographing children under 18. When reporting abuse cases, children's identities should never be revealed as it could endanger them. The media is encouraged to advocate for children's issues but must consider potential consequences of irresponsible reporting like distress, negative stereotypes, or stigmatization. Overall, children's rights and safety should be the top priority in any media coverage involving children.

Although published in 2006 and referring to official guidance that was in circulation at the time, this guide contains lots of guidance on classroom strategies and practical activities that are every bit as relevant today

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized the creation of images and videos, enabling the generation of highly realistic and imaginative visual content. Utilizing advanced techniques like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and neural style transfer, AI can transform simple sketches into detailed artwork or blend various styles into unique visual masterpieces. GANs, in particular, function by pitting two neural networks against each other, resulting in the production of remarkably lifelike images. AI's ability to analyze and learn from vast datasets allows it to create visuals that not only mimic human creativity but also push the boundaries of artistic expression, making it a powerful tool in digital media and entertainment industries.
