This document discusses training evaluation. It begins by defining training evaluation and identifying its objectives: to define training evaluation, discuss its purpose, and identify different evaluation types. It then discusses that evaluation is a state of mind, not just techniques. The purposes of evaluation are feedback, control, and intervention. Evaluation can assess the training plan, process, and product. Different evaluation methods and tools are reviewed. The document advocates for evaluating all stages of training and discusses frameworks for doing so, including Kirkpatrick's model and evaluating achievement of targets, attracting resources, and satisfying interested parties. It argues that the important question is not why evaluate, but whether an organization can afford not to evaluate training activities.
