The Value Of Positive Guidance
II. Introduction
Purpose: The purpose of my personal philosophy is to show the value of positive guidance. I want to
demonstrate that children are capable of learning new skills that will help them in their development.
The importance of positive guidance is to prepare children for adulthood. Through various activities
and instruction children will learn ethical principals.
Organization: I will start my essay by explaining the importance of positive child guidance. Then I
will discuss about how children best in the environment and doing activities. I will discuss about the
motives in children s behavior. Then, I will explain the type of skills children need to learn for primary
grades and later in life. I will discuss how adults need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children are able to learn these principals through modeling, hands on experiences, being scaffold by
a teacher, through observation, role playing, and through individuality. Activities that will teach
children these principals are by doing a puppet play, storytelling with a picture book, singing a number
song, collect rocks to create a mosaic painting, and do gardening to teach children about nature.
Assumptions About the Motives for Young Children s Behaviors: Children behave the way they do
because they want social reinforces such as acceptance, compliments, a pad on the back, rewards,
encouragement, and praise. Children also behave the way they do because they will have time for free
play, and get privileges by behaving well. When children notice positive reinforcements, the child will
continue to display positive behavior and will be able to learn new behaviors. Additionally, children
who tend to cause chaos in a classroom want attention from peers, or teachers. In this case, children
should be taught positive behavior.
Assumptions About What Children Need to Learn to Succeed Later in Life: Children who enter
primary grades should learn to be ethical in order to respect peers, learn to make the right decisions,
be independent, and be caring with peers. They also

Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Marsin Paris. Built in 1889, it
has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the
world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most visited paid monument in the world;
millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower
was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World s Fair.
The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81 storey building. During its
construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed theWashington Monument to assume the title of the tallest
man made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in ... Show

The tower was much criticized by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore.
Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris. The pig iron
structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7,300 tones, while the entire structure, including non metal
components, is approximately 10,000 tones. As a demonstration of the economy of design, if the 7,300
tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base to a depth of
only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter. Depending on the
ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to 18 cm because of
thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun.
Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect it
from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to maintain a
uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are used on the tower,
with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. On occasion the color of the paint is
changed; the tower is currently painted a shade of bronze. On the first floor there are interactive
consoles hosting a poll for the color to use for a future session of painting. The only non structural
elements are the four decorative grillwork arches, added in Stephen Sauvestre s sketches,

The Effect Of Surface Residues On Weeds
Crop residue may be kept in the field in both CT and NT systems (CT+Res and NT+Res,
respectively). In CT+Res the residue is incorporated into the soil, with the depth of mixing dependent
upon type of tillage. Although incorporated residue may affect weeds via altered nutrient dynamics,
the effects will be highly dependent on the type of tillage used, the carbon to nitrogen ratio of the
residue, the type of soil, and the environment it will therefore be difficult to extract useful generalities
(Liebman and Mohler, 2001, p. 236). Consequently, in this review we focus on the effects of surface
residues on weeds.
3.1 Residue Seedbank
3.1.1 Losses
3.1.1.1 Germination
Surface residues can affect seed germination via physical and chemical ... Show more content on

As such, decreased weed seed germination due to insufficient light availability is likely not a major
advantage of residue retention.
Surface residue decreases the daily maximum soil temperature but has little effect on the daily
minimum (Teasdale and Mohler, 1993) resulting in two changes: cooler average soil temperatures and
less drastic fluctuations. Most agronomic crops and many weeds require soil temperatures above a
certain threshold in order to germinate the lower soil temperatures under surface residue would
therefore delay germination of both. This delayed germination and resulting shorter growing season of
the crop can reduce yield; as such it is important to find the amount of residue which optimizes yield
rather than weed control (Wicks et al., 1994). In addition to later germination, some weed species
germination is enhanced by larger temperature fluctuations (Liebman and Mohler, 2001, p. 239); the
buffered soil temperature could therefore reduce germination rates.
Surface residue will conserve soil moisture how this affects germination rates will depend on the
environment. In water limited environments, residue may promote germination while in wetter
conditions it may have little effect. This is exemplified by a study done in Zimbabwe, where residue
was more effective in suppressing weeds in wetter sites (Ngwira et al., 2014).

International Commercial Litigation Of The United Kingdom

The Wells Creek Impact Structure
The Wells Creek Impact Structure: Impact Melts produces shock metamorphism in the target rock.
Michael A. Burklow
Department of Geology, University of Tennessee at Martin, Martin, Tennessee 38237, USA
Abstract
The Wells Creek structure was formed by a meteorite impact in Cumberland, Tennessee (36°〖23〗^
N,87°40 W) which is the northern part of Middle Tennessee. This region is known as the highland rim.
The younger and older strata is exposed in two areas in the highland rim which means the older
sediment has been eroded and much of the younger sediment remains. The impact produced a variety
of structural features. The circular central block contains a circular core of megabreccia about 1520
meters (Ford, 2012). The impacted breccia is monomitic breccia, which is the result of rock
deformation from the impact event. The breccia from Wells Creek is homogenous breccia that has
been under intense movement and very high confining pressures. The angular Horst is an upthrown
block between the two fault blocks and the inner Graben is a downthrown block near the central block
(Ford, 2012). The larger impact structure is an anticline which is boarded by a second ring Syncline of
the wells creek basin structure (Ford, 2012). The shock wave releases are large amounts of energy
from the central point of impact moving outward forming ring anticlines and synclines. The impacted
breccia matrix consists of angular fragmented chert, limestone, and dolomite. The wells creek

Kristallnacht Analysis
After the defeat in WWI and the humiliation of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany faced an economic
crash and was left under the rule of an unstable democracy. In times of desperate need, the German
people favored the Nazi party and elected their own fascist leader, Adolf Hitler. While the Germans
simply hoped for bread, work, and the restoration of German pride, they were given much more than
they bargained for. Hitler created his own cult of personality and blinded the citizenry to his
promotion of racist ideas and stereotypes, which eventually escalated into millions of deaths across
Europe, and a war that changed the world.
Although the violence on Kristallnacht is viewed as the the spark that led to the flames of the
Holocaust, one must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Germany s economy after World War I was left in shambles, to the point where people were
living off of bread and water. The Führer took advantage of the people s fear and desperation and used
it to forward his agenda, presenting himself as their light in the darkness. He created a cult of
personality, not unlike those of dictators who ruled at the same time, such as Joseph Stalin Russia and
Benito Mussolini of Italy, or even Kim Jong Un of today. An image from 1938 depicts the different
Badges of Shame assigned to those in concentration camps, including Jews, homosexuals, immigrants,
political enemies, and the mentally ill (Doc 7). Hitler took advantage of symbolism, and in this case
used it to categorize and divide his targets, creating a social stigma around those who wore the stars
and triangles. He further used symbolism in establishing unity among the German population and
solidifying his cult following, by making forcing them to pledge their allegiance to him. An image
from 1935 of a Nazi Rally in Nuremberg depicts a huge crowd of young Germans doing the Nazi
salute (Doc 6). With a hand gesture stolen from the Romans, he made it his own by adding the words
Heil Hitler! . In addition to using symbolism, Hitler used the media and appointed a Minister of
Propaganda to build up a positive image. This hero worship allowed Hitler

Theme Of Insanity In Gothic Literature
Insanity Gothic literature can be composed of several themes depending on the purpose the writers
intend to convey. William Faulkner, Edgar Allen Poe, and Richard Matheson are virtuosos within the
realm of gothic literature. They have perfected the ability to blend fiction and horror through the use
of certain gothic elements. Through their many works, such as A Rose for Emily, Prey, and The Black
Cat, the authors implement numerous themes regarding violence and entrapment existing in both the
metaphorical and literal state. The authors successfully apply these elements in order to illustrate their
belief that loneliness and grief can motivate inhumane actions, further progressing the state of
insanity. Among the multitude of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her father (whom is recently deceased) and her boyfriend (Homer) have aided in her social
deprivation. As a result, she is empty and lost, which provokes her to buy the rat poison, the arsenic
(Faulkner 1071). While the town may not interact with Emily, they are still bewildered by her earlier
purchase. The townspeople let their curiosity consume them and following the passing of Emily, they
enter her abandoned house. Upon uncovering that what was left of [Homer], rotted (Faulkner 1074) in
her bed, they acknowledge Emily had poisoned Homer in an effort to relieve her loneliness; which, in
return, cost Homer his life. Even though violence may not be the only element present in these short
stories, it does reflect the length at which people are willing to go in order to acquire what they desire.
Similarly to violence, entrapment is another overarching theme prevalent within these literary works.
Throughout The Black Cat, the evil eclipses the good. The narrator becomes consumed with dread
upon the murdering of his former best friend: Pluto. He begins to feel as though he is in a felon s cell
(Poe 3) and there is no way out. Even though the narrator is not physically trapped, he believes his
own house is equivalent to a prison. His internal turmoil clouds his rational thinking and he is unable
to escape his true desires. While every sane person would feel remorse for the irrevocable murder of

Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron Essay
Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron

We sought to reproduce the experiment first preformed by KT Bainbridge to determine the charge to
mass ratio of the electron. In this paper, we derived the relationship between this ratio and measurable
quantities, detailed our experimental setup, with in depth and specific circuit diagrams. We determined
the mass to charge ratio to be 6.54341±.00474661e7[Cg − 1] with a percent difference of 63%.
Because of the large error, we explore possible sources of error.

Malaria In Kenya Essay
In Kenya, an African country that is affected by Plasmodium falciparum, the most aggressive of the
four species of malaria, the negative economic impact of malaria can be clearly seen. Malaria related
GDP losses reached 2 6% of the total economic output of the country, with 58% of those losses being
in the agricultural sector and 7% in the industrial sector (Chima, 2003). When workers or their
children contract malaria, they are unable to go to work, work effectively, or spend money on things
other than treatment (Chima, 2003). In other words, malaria acts as a drain on both the productivity of
a country, as often there is no other person available to take the place of the absent worker.
Furthermore, the costs of finding alternates to replace workers who have fallen ill, or must take care of
their children is placed squarely on the shoulders of businesses, while the individual who contracted
malaria, or must care for someone who has malaria is unable to both earn money for their absent days,
as well as spend money in areas other than the treatment of malaria, thus stimulation only a small
portion of the economy, and effectively blocking the circulation of funds in the economy to their
fullest extent (Chima, 2003).
Moreover, when examining the intersection between the medical impacts of malaria on the human and
the social consequences, a vicious cycle is revealed in which the body, the community, and the
economy are all similarly impacted by the presence of malaria in a

Exploring Judaism
Judaism, which originated in the middle east, is one of the oldest religions in the world. Judaism is the
religion from where Catholicism and Islam have their roots. The main difference between Judaism and
the previously mentioned religions is that Judaism is based on the old testament entirely excluding the
new testaments in its teachings. Jews believe that they are the people chosen by God and that because
of the covenant they have the duty, more than any other group of people, to keep the law of God. The
law of God in Judaism comes in the form of the Torah. The books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus,
Numbers and Deuteronomy, which are said to have been written by Moses, form the Torah. Judaism

When you enter the temple the object that stands out the most is the big candlelight like structure on
the upper part of the wall behind the stage. Later I learned that the wall below the candlelight could be
open to reveal a sanctuary that is supposed to represent the arc that the Jews carried through the
dessert. Although the one in the temple does not utilize olive oil or real fire, the candlelight on top
represents the eternal light that the sanctuary had which burn with pure olive oil. The arc is an
extremely important symbol in Judaism. It contains several beautiful Torah s with covers with
different captivating designs. The beauty of the Torah s cover is important because it is the word of
God and it is a way too honor God. The Torah s are to be written in parchment by a Jewish scribe who

In An Rsa Video, Brené Brown On Empathy, Brené Explains
In an RSA video, Brené Brown on Empathy, Brené explains that Empathy fuels connection, sympathy
drives disconnection. Theresa Wiseman, a nursing scholar in 1996, studied professions where the
relevancy of empathy was crucial and developed the following four qualities of empathy: 1.
Perspective adoption the ability to take the perspective of another individual or recognise their
perspective as their truth. This requires putting our issues and perspectives aside to see the situation
through their eyes. 2. Being non judgmental the ability to set aside one s beliefs or principals to assist
another in their situation. The judgement of another person s situation discounts the experience and is
an attempt to protect ourselves from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the spectator might draw comparisons between how he/she handled the situation in the past
and how the character handles the situation in the present, which could cause tension and unwarranted
judgment. Something which must be avoided according to Wiseman s four qualities. Presently, society
is quick to judge an individual or their situation. It is easier for a spectator to set aside their judgment
for the duration of a film or to suspend their belief even for a moment, in order to assess the situation a
character is in before making a judgment on them particularly when a character does not fit a certain
mould. Spectators are more willing to wait and see how a character develops before they give them a
final judgment. In reality, this is not the case because an individual will, more often than not, judge
another individual on face value rather than waiting to gain a complete understanding of the situation.
This brings up the idea that spectators are controlled less by their superegos while being a spectator. A
spectator is more accepting of anomalous and fictitious characters than what they are of real
individuals who are seen by society as non conformist. In some ways, being a spectator could be seen
as a shield from the judgment of others, others who cannot be empathetic towards the plights of those
who they perceive as anomalous. The ability to

Examples Of Catalase Lab Report
Part A was just a beginning. The experiment showed us what a normal catalase reaction really is. We
had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef liver. At first
we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical reaction was going
on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being released as well as a
combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to estimate the reaction rates by
the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were
being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2. Another experiment we did was testing
if catalase was reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact, reusable. The basics of a normal catalase
reaction is what we learned about part A. Everything kept growing more and more into depth with our
experiments as we went on during our lab.
CONCLUSION PART B ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We used apple, potato, and chicken liver to prove that not only beef liver contains catalase. The group
conducted three experiments: one contained potato and H2O2, another had apple and H2O2, and the
last had chicken liver and H2O2. We added 2mL of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to all three test tubes.
The bubbling effect proved that all three had catalase in them. We realized that the more the substance
bubbled the more catalase it contained, and that the less it bubbled, the less catalase there was. We
also rated the reactions by the speed of the reaction in seconds, like we learned in part

John Steinbeck s Writing Style
John Ernst Steinbeck was born and raised in Salinas, California. As a child he always aspired to
become a great writer. Between the years of 1920 and 1925 Steinbeck attended Stanford University.
While at Stanford University, Steinbeck took classes in writing techniques. Although John Ernst
Steinbeck excelled in writing he lacked the will to achieve in other areas of education. Unfortunately,
Steinbeck never graduated from Stanford. John Steinbeck moved to New York City to follow his
dream of writing. For a few years Steinbeck worked two jobs to support himself. One was as a fruit
picker and the other was as a journalist. In New York City he tried to establish himself as a free lance
writer, but failed. The only pleasant thing he received from New York was his wife. Steinbeck married
in 1930 and decided to return to Salinas, his hometown, with his new companion. When steinbeck

their friends. I was beyond glad that it was a cool rainy day or else we would have been miserable in
the heat. We borrowed a friends truck to go into town. We had discovered that the right front tire was

aggravated and concentrated on finding somewhere to pump the tire up he forgot what we really even
borrowed the truck for! We went back to the race track and it turns out that they had a air pump at
their barn that we did not know about. We sat and joked around and caught up with all the drama ...

The Most Remarkable Discovery Of Modern Cosmology

In this lecture, I would like to discuss whether time itself has a beginning, and whether it will have an
end. All the evidence seems to indicate, that the universe has not existed forever, but that it had a
beginning, about 15 billion years ago. This is probably the most remarkable discovery of modern
cosmology. Yet it is now taken for granted. We are not yet certain whether the universe will have an
end. When I gave a lecture in Japan, I was asked not to mention the possible re collapse of the
universe, because it might affect the stock market. However, I can re assure anyone who is nervous
about their investments that it is a bit early to sell: even if the universe does come to an end, it won t
be for at least twenty billion years. By that time, maybe the GATT trade agreement will have come
into effect.
The time scale of the universe is very long compared to that for human life. It was therefore not
surprising that until recently, the universe was thought to be essentially static, and unchanging in time.
On the other hand, it must have been obvious, that society is evolving

The Argument Against Piracy Off The Coast Of Somalia
The universal declaration of basic human rights is a common standard of achievement for all peoples
and all nations. Down to every single individual in every society today, keeping this Declaration
constantly in mind. This Declaration to teach the ideology of respect for these rights and freedoms and
by progressive measures, national and international. Somalia, for example, is a long running disastrous
country that doesn t abide by the basic human rights. Somalia has a corrupt government and is infested
with guns, and war. Piracy off the coast of Somalia has become the principal problem for ships,
yachts, and fishing boats which significantly affects other countries as well.
No one should be subjected to torture or cruel, degrading treatment in any lifetime. Somalia s long
duration of armed conflict continues to leave civilians dead, wounded, and displaced to a high number.

pirates began due to toxins of the shorelines of Somalia which greatly affected their salary then the
fishermen started forming armed groups to stop the foreign ships. They eventually turned to hijacking

against piracy, yet they can t be everywhere at once. Shipping agencies took it upon themselves to
further advance their defenses either with armed guards or crewman manning high pressured water

The country of Somalia has undergone massive amounts of armed violence, yet not many people have

Essay Nickel and Dimed Analysis
Ed Fleming Rhetorical Analysis Paper English 102 Thurs Hybrid In Barbara Ehrenreich s book Nickel
and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by In America we read about a middle aged journalist undertaking a
social experiment of the greatest magnitude. The journalist is Ehrenreich herself and the experiment
was to find out how a woman, recently removed from welfare, due to policy reform, would make it on
a six or seven dollar an hour wage. The experiment itself started out as just a question in the middle of
lunch with one of Ehrenreich s editors, it soon turned into a job assignment. Before starting the
experiment, Ehrenreich laid out some ground rules for her to follow during the duration of the

worked for and with, Ehrenreich decides to use fake names to achieve anonymity. Ehrenreich starts
out at 2.43 an hour plus tips. One of the first things Ehrenreich notices is that the people around her
are only working hard enough to get by. Because the managers will yell at anybody who is done with
their work, and not doing something new, the workers seem to be happy with just working at a slow
pace, doing just one job. Because the only reward for finishing early is being yelled at by a manager,
that apparently spends his day doing nothing, there is no real bonus to go the extra mile. Due to this
negative reinforcement, Ehrenreich notes that the restaurant is almost moving in counterproductive
mode. With less being worked on, less is being accomplished, attributing to the overall sad appearance
and low morale of the restaurant and its employees. The next problem Ehrenreich encounters is the
constant berating handed out by her supervisor Stu . Ehrenreich observes that due to this constant
barrage of insults and degradations, workers are forced to feel like they are subhuman. Weekly the

Kinnell And Heaney
The poems Blackberry picking by Seamus Heaney, and Blackberry Eating by Galway Kinnell are both
excellent depictions of the essence of the blackberries. Something beautiful can be said of poems that
were written about blackberries. The descriptive words poets use, can make a simple fruit into
something truly amazing. These poems all compare blackberries, making them seem like more than
they are. These two poems are dedicated to different seasons of blackberry picking, describe the fruit
itself to be something different, and are written with different writing styles.
The first lines of both poems begin with a time. Blackberry picking takes place in late August. Heaney
described the weather needed for that time of year to find the perfect blackberries. He told the reader,
given heavy rain and sun for a full week, the blackberries would ripen. This is very similar to what
Kinnell is saying with the first lines of his poem, Blackberry Eating . His poem begins, in late
September among the fat, overripe, icy, black blackberries. The timing in both poems is extremely
similar in that the blackberries are just becoming ripe in late August, and over the next month, grow to
the perfect, overripe state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Boeing Brief History
History
Looking at the brief history of Boeing, the company was first founded in Puget Sound, Washington in
1916 by William Edward Boeing.
After sucessfully selling military aircrafts adapted for troop transportation in the 1950 s and
introducing commercial aircrafts model 707, 727 followed by 737, Boeing has since then become a
leading producer of military commercial aircraft.
After a few number of mergers acquisitions to become the world s largest, most diversified aerospace

Morever, these potential new entrants could be deterred from entering the industry as the development
of aircrafts can take very long lead times. It can take about 15 20 years to develop a next generation
commercial aircraft and production may stretch out for decades, depending on the no. of units ordered.
This may act as a barrier of entry for potential new entrants. Illustrating the third force which is Power
of Suppliers,
There are only 3 main competitors in the commercial jet engine making industry which operates as an
oligopoly. Historically, all of these companies have competed with each other for jet engine contracts
which led to intense price wars. To avert ruinous price wars, these companies typically enter into
exclusive supplier contracts with aircraft manufacturers. In such arrangements, the engine maker
becomes the sole provider of jet engines for a specific aircraft model.
In addition, the big jet engine makers give heavily discounted price, partly to lock in lucrative long
term replacement parts, repairs and maintenace business, thereby reducing the power of these jet
engine makers.
On the other hand, for the power of customers,
Airlines usually buy new jets under long term fixed price contracts. This effectively shifts the financial
risk to the aircraft manufacturer as they have no certainty of the future, thus giving

Furthermore, second negative aspect was that the quantity of litter increased taking into consideration
that the number of tourists increased that much and nevertheless, hosting the games increased also the
quantity of pollution. Third negative aspect would be the fact that many buildings such as schools and
campuses were demolished to build instead of them the venues for the Olympic Games and people
were forced to move from the Olympic Park area. The lack of long term jobs can cause a bad impact
there is a risk that the public is being misled of the opportunities for jobs, as nearly all of the jobs are
likely to be short term, and after the games it could leave the area still with a high level of
unemployment. Lastly the main drawback of hosting the games is the cost. It is predicted that the total
cost of staging the Games will be £2.375bn with the funding sources of Council Tax, the National

The View Of The Afterlife Essay
Classical World Influences
Introduction
The aim of my report is to explain how the view of the afterlife in Ancient Greece has shaped works
of art, books and the mentality of people. In order to do this I am going to explore how ancient Greek
people saw the underworld as well as Roman people and the Renaissance period. Because Greeks saw
the underworld as a dark, dreadful and gloomy place, many of the works that refer to it, either in
Roman times or the Renaissance, are influenced by this view. In particular works like the Odyssey by
Homer or The Phaedo by Plato, explained to a certain level the structure of the afterlife in ancient
Greece. These two pieces of literature severely influenced works like the book VI of the Aeneid by
Virgil where he depicts the underworld referencing to the Greek point of view. But a deeper
description of the underworld is given by Dante in his Divine Comedy where he uses Virgil as his
guide, from the depths of hell to the Purgatory while Beatrice, Dante s ideal woman, guides him
through heaven. All these time periods shared the idea of the underworld as being a place where souls
pay the sins they committed during their lives.
Afterlife in Ancient Greece
The afterlife in ancient Greece was Known as Hades. It was a grey world ruled by Hades, the Lord of
the Dead. If they had a virtuous life they could enjoy the sunny pleasures of the Elysium or paradise, if
they had a wicked life, then they fell into the dark pits of Tartarus, while if they

Long Bones Essay
Skeletisation of a dead body has made identification of the remains trickier. As humans, we become
accustomed to recognise others from outer body appearances, not their insides. However, it is well
established that morphological and metric changes occur on certain bones through a human s lifetime
(e.g. Pelvis: Phenice, 1969, Skull: Meindl and Lovejoy, 1985, Long bones: France, 1998) making
identification possible. To complicate matters, morphological and metric changes can differ within and
between human population groups due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors (DiGangi and Moore, 2012).
An example of this is nutritional deficiency, which effects males more than females and causes
reduced sexual dimorphism (Ross, Baker and Falsetti, 2003). Recently, there has been a global trend
to establish population specific standards for identification due to such variation. Compared to
America, much of Europe and other areas have not had as much opportunity to conduct research on
modern populations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

commonly used methods for age determination. Other features of the pelvis such as the morphology of

and metrics of the skull, including the mandible, have been beneficial in determination of sex
(Buikstra and Ubelaker, 1994). Additionally, metric measurements of appendicular bones have also
shown to be useful at determining sex (France, 1998). This study is limiting the discussion to the skull

What Effect Did Farming Have On American Life
Before there was farming people had to hunt for berries and animals. People knew that they had to
start finding ways to produce food. If they started making advanced tools it would help them grow
crops. When crops and animals began to be farmed the cities and civilizations began to grow. With
more civilizations growing, farming became more of a demand. Hunting for berries and animals were
most of the ways to get food. Hunting for berries was hard for some. Some people would have to go
far away from their home to find only little berries. Though they were hard to find they were pick as
often as they could before the winter came. Hunting was a main food source for people before

Cities began to grow because crops and animals could now be farmed to meet demand. With more
cities starting to develop, more people start living there. Since those people don t grow their own food
they will have to go buy it from the farmer. That s why farming becomes more demanding. With
people able to support more than just themselves start to have families. Then the families would have
families. With not as many farmers it they would not be able to make as much food without tools.
With more people in the world then someone would be smart enough to make better tools in the future
to make sure more food in grown. That is what life was like long ago. It was a hard life before there

Transfer Of 40 % Ownership
A. Transfer of 40% Ownership As a sole proprietorship, Mr. Jones owns 100% of his used car
dealership. He has full authority to make big business decisions and reports business income from the
Schedule C to his Form 1040. He is currently deciding on re electing his business and giving his
daughter 40% ownership of the business. When a current owner brings in new business associates,
allocating a percentage of ownership is crucial. The individual with majority share has the voting
power to make or break critical business decisions. An even 50/50 spilt might create a deadlock which
could negatively impact the business. For example, another used car dealership wants to buy Mr.
Jones business. Mr. Jones thinks the sale is a good idea, but Mandy is completely against it. Since the
two are in a deadlock, the interested company may back out of the offer if a decision is not
immediately made. Using the same scenario with the 60/40 split, Mr. Jones is a majority shareholder
and has the voting authority over Mandy to accept the offer despite any rejections (Duff 2016).
Financially speaking, the duo is better off with the 60/40 split. The S corporation election allows for
income and deductions from the business to flow down to the taxpayers. If Mr. Jones decided to stay a
sole proprietor, he claims the entire $1,200,000 on his Form 1040. If he decides to elect the S
corporation status with a 60/40 split, he claims $720,000 of the business income, as well as 60% of the

Do you choose intelligence over happiness? I don t know what s worse, to not know what you are and

(Keyes 298). In Flowers for Algernon, Charlie Gordon is a young man who struggles with mental

is that Charlie Gordon is not as happy as he was before surgery. Before his surgery, Charlie was

Before surgery, Charlie s ignorance hid him from the true, harsh reality. After surgery, Charlie s
ignorance disappeared, making him realize how fake and disappointing the world can be. Before
Charlie s surgery, he was happy, but felt oblivious to the world surrounding him. After surgery, he was
pleased with his intelligence when it reached its peak. But when Charlie s intelligence began to
deteriorate, he became upset that he couldn t think the way he could when he was smart. From the
reasons stated above, In Flowers for Algernon, Charlie Gordon is better off before surgery.

Summary Of William Goldman s The Princess Bride
The Princess Bride, written by William Goldman, is no ordinary fairy tale, most fairy tales are
straightforward, the fact that it is told through a frame narrative, adding additional layers, makes the
story more confusing. Although it does not fully fit the conventions of an ordinary fairy tale, it does fit
the conventions of oral story telling. Through the preface and interruptions, Goldman simulates oral
storytelling, with a hint of fantasy, in his novel, in order to recreate the moment in which his father
told him the story.
Throughout the novel, Goldman reminds his readers that this novel should be listened to not read. The
beginning of the novel is not the actual story, but instead a preface in which a fictional William
Goldman, the narrator, tells the readers about parts of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the novel, the fictive Goldman interrupts parts of the story to add a few of his remarks, his
interruption, right before the protagonist, Buttercup, is introduced, marked the first of many. Goldman
says, When I said at the start [the preface] I d never read this book, that s true. My father read it to me
(Goldman 96). Here, the reader comes to a realization about why he is interrupting. Goldman is
abridging the novel so the readers could read it as the good parts version, in other words, the version
in which Goldman s father read to him as a child; this makes the story feel like it is told not read
(adding onto the oral story telling element). Another example of further emphasis on the story telling
aspect happens when Buttercup is in the Florin Channel, Goldman interrupts with a childhood
memory, She doesn t get eaten by sharks at this time, my father said, (107). This line, just as it
reassured young Goldman, reassured the readers through his father s voice. This supports the
storyteller role because only through an oral story can the storyteller directly respond to the listener s

Essay on Political Culture of Mexico
Mexican Political Culture
As once put by Mexican Nobel laureate Octavio Paz, Mexico is a land of super imposed pasts
(McCormick, p.326). It continues to be and is seen as a melding pot of its European and Native
American ideas about society, law and government. Its history has had a major influence on the
political culture of Mexico, seen through years of revolution, violence and corruption. Mexico is a
considered a new democracy, but there is a tension still seen between democracy and authoritarianism.
The country we see today has impressive growth yet is still enduring poverty. It s a geographically

It is said that in December 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared on three occasions to a Christian Indian,
Juan Diego, six kilometers north of Mexico City, and identified herself as Guadalupe. It is said that the
Guadalupe symbol links family, politics and religion; the colonial past and the independent present;
and the Indian and the Mexican. It reflects the salient social relationships of Mexican life and
embodies the emotions they generate. (Merrill Miró, Religion) Devotion to the Virgin Guadalupe
remains strong even as Mexican society changes. For example, in a national opinion poll found, nine
out of ten Mexicans still continued to ask intercessions from the Virgin or another saint. (Merrill Miró,

Mexicans attribute the origins of the political system in Mexico to the Revolution of 1910 1920 and it

Unauthorized Immigration
Currently, the problem of unauthorized immigration divides Congress along political party lines.
Many politicians who are anti immigrant and pro immigrant seek for ways by which they can impact
their political base. As research shows, politicians and anti immigrant groups take advantage of the
mass media in order to persuade their constituency. The media uses quantitative data analysis of the
unauthorized population to create a media spectacle, by the portrayal of unauthorized immigrants as
criminals (Correa Cabrera 2012). This media spectacle serves to exploit the fears of many Americans
who oppose legalization. As a result, many people feel encouraged to contact their local
representatives to stand against the legalization of the unauthorized population.
Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965
First, it is important to present a historical context of unauthorized immigration to understand the
current dilemma. In order to change discriminatory immigration policies, the Immigration and
Nationality Act of 1965 was signed into law. After the 1965 act, immigration from Asia and Latin
America increased dramatically. However, for Latin America countries, the legislation restricted the
number of legal entries into the United States. Since the bill allowed for visas through family
reunification, the number of immigrants from Latin American countries increased, thus exhausting the
available visas. The result of these events created chain migration which caused unauthorized

One of the main international bodies that has championed the fight for equal rights for persons with
disabilities and has caused Trinidad and Tobago to embark on ambitious educational reform initiatives
is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). One of their
initial benchmark in their fight for equal rights began with the Universal Declaration for Human
Rights in 1948. Trinidad and Tobago joined this fight in the years that followed and became a
signatory to some of the landmark conventions and achievements of UNESCO as seen in diagram 1.
The Convention on the United Nations Rights of the child, which was ratified by Trinidad and Tobago
in December 1991, includes items such as principle 5 and to a lesser extent principle 10 referring to
the protection, treatment and provisions of children including those with special needs.
Trinidad and Tobago is also a signatory to the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities,
ratified on June 2015. This Convention aims at addressing the numerous obstacles that hinder persons
with disabilities. Article number 24 of the Convention refers to five elaborations on the issue of
education. Number 5 of Article 24 refers to

Affordable Care Act Analysis
Obamacare, also known as The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or ACA, was enacted in
2010 under the Barack Obama administration. The Affordable Care Act does five main things: it
enacts insurance market reforms, establishes an employer mandate, creates new federal and state
health insurance exchanges, institutes an individual mandate, and expands Medicaid eligibility. This
historical piece of legislation was met with much confrontation, forcing the Obama administration to
cut deals and negotiate terms with opposing parties in order to get the act passed. The Affordable Care
Act works, and its success is evident in the data. The number of uninsured Americans has decreased
from 18% in 2013, just before the Affordable Care Act was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This mandate can be considered similar to the car insurance requirement every state except New
Hampshire has enacted mandatory car insurance liability laws that requires all motorized vehicles
must be insured, guaranteeing that the owner can pay for damage in the event of an accident.
Requiring most Americans to purchase health insurance would keep premiums low, according to most
health economists . Economists further say that the mandate encourages people who are unlikely to
buy coverage mostly healthy people who think premiums are a waste of money to sign up . There are
exemptions to the provision and a penalty for not obtaining coverage, which is soon expected to
increase to $695 or 2.5% of income in 2016. We must keep the individual mandate in Hillarycare as it
ensures that the majority of Americans have acceptable health care

Darkness Alternate Ending
In the beginning there was only Darkness. He controlled everything and anything, but nothing at the
same time. There was nothing to control except Darkness: himself. Darkness had a smug grin, a long
black cloak, and the laugh of a villain. He loved the dark and wanted nothing else but for everything to
be dark forever.
There was a voice in his head that crushed his dreams and said, Someone is coming. Your time as sole
ruler has come to an end. Darkness will come to an end.
In that very moment he saw something bright walking toward him. His eyes closed and he used his
hands to shield them from the unfamiliar sensation. He yelled at the light to shut itself off. As the light
got closer, his eyes adjusted and he was able to look at the light. ... Show more content on

I don t know... Light is gone. Darkness says with a sad face, I wish I wouldn t have been so blind. I
wish I could bring them back. Light and Sun, our dear friends... I m sorry for how we treated you. We
need you, Darkness stares at the now dead sphere and a tear falls into it.
At that moment the urn becomes unlocked from its hiding place. Darkness s sudden love has
overpowered and has broken the lock. The urn speaks to him. Darkness you have realised your
mistakes. Sun will come back, but as for me, you have turned me to embers. I cannot return to my
original form. To fix your mistakes, find a way for us to still be together.
Sun returns to Earth and greets Moon with a smile. Moon is ecstatic that Sun his back: he missed his
dear friend. Like children, Sun and Moon started playing an everlasting game of tag around the
sphere. The grass came back and so did all of the animals. Everything was back to the way it was and
beautiful, just like it should be.
Darkness thinks for a second, then notices Sun and Moon chasing each other around the sphere. He
realises what he needs to do. He waits until Moon brings the dark. He takes Light s embers and
sprinkles the shining pieces all over the dark sky. You are the light in my darkness, so I want you to be

The Concept Of The Jumping Robot
ABSTRACT: Depending upon the type of terrain an¬¬d application, robot motion varies from simple
translatory motion to complex motions like walking, jumping, climbing. Jumping is a preferred mode
over others when it comes to crossing obstacles that are of a size larger than the robots own body. It is
better to jump over a terrain with irregular surface, debris, ground cracks than climbing and crossing
over them. A new mechanism for increasing the usefulness of ground robots in surveillance
applications has been proposed, which adds a jumping ability to the existing wheeled motion. The
operations of wheeled movement and the jumping mechanism are independent of each other. The
configuration for a two wheeled jumping robot is defined, the jumping ... Show more content on

The robot will be driven with two motorized wheels and a balancing tail which will provide the third
point of contact. The jumping action will be obtained with the aid of the tail. The task is to tug the tail
within the body of the robot, preserving the normal reaction force with the ground and then releasing
it as it produces the energy to lift the robot body off the ground. Fig 1. Conceptual 3D model of the
Jumping Robot Existing methods to activate the tail on a wheeled robot are winching mechanism[4]
[5] and pneumatics[6][7] .In winching an additional actuator, required to hold the sheet in a coiled
state increases the power requirements and also adds extra weight to the body of the robot. For
pneumatics, the size of the robot increases due to the compressor involved. Also the number of firings
that can be produced are limited. Any drop in the pressure of compressed air will also lead to
malfunctioning of the jumping mechanism. Considering the difficulties faced above, the proposed
system shall make use of compression springs. The tail will be spring loaded. Concepts have been
generated to provide best fit for the defined problem.

Deep Sea Sounding On Challenger
11. Deep sea sounding on Challenger HMS Challenger sounding logs show that by September 1873,
the Baillie was used to conduct most of Challenger s deep sea sounding work. Unlike a wire sounder
tested and rejected earlier in the voyage, the Baillie sounder was able to move within the ship s
existing system of instrumentation and materials. As with HMS Sylvia, sounding was conducted from
the mainyard, and a steam engine on the deck helped to retrieve the sounder from the ocean floor.
Similar to the Hydra, officers timed and calculated the Baillie s rate of decent. When the sounder
slowed, the ocean s depth was ascertained by the length of the sounding line. 12. Other instruments It
is often overlooked that the Baillie sounder worked as a system with other instruments. In addition to
the sounder, several thermometers, a water collection bottle and a pressure gauge were often attached
to the hemp sounding line. In this manner, the Baillie sounder worked in concert with several other
instruments collecting information about the ocean floor. The ability of the Baillie sounder to transport
sea floor materials to the surface was useful for the laying of telegraph cables, but also essential for
scientific analysis. Samples of the ocean bottom provided key evidence for developing theories about
life in the deep ocean, and how species evolved over time. For example, in 1865 zoologist Thomas
Huxley claimed Bathybius haecklii was a type of primordial ooze that lived on the deep

The Educational Value Of Virtual Reality
I Have a Question! : The Educational Value of Virtual Reality Since the 1950 s, virtual reality (VR)
has been hovering on the periphery of technology without achieving accepted mainstream application
or commercial adoption. However, that is beginning to change and virtual reality has become a
popular topic within the latest technological headlines. According to TechCrunch, VR startups have
raised more than $1.46 billion in venture capital, and people believe that this is the year that VR will
finally take off. Virtual reality provides an escape from reality through a portal to an alternate reality
with a landscape that feels realistic. As VR becomes more popular, some educators and employers are
looking to incorporate VR as a primary teaching tool due to its widespread and numerous uses.
However, while virtual reality may seem like a beneficial educational tool, problems will inevitably
arise from the development and implementation of VR in education, and a middle ground will need to
be discovered.
While statistics on VR use in K 12 schools and colleges have yet to be gathered, the steady growth of
the market is reflected in the surge of companies solely dedicated to providing K 12 schools with
packaged educational curriculum, content, teacher training and technological tools to support VR
based instruction in classrooms around the world. However, this is not the first time that this concept
had existed. On one hand, it is important to keep in mind that there are

Women Are Not Born But Made
Women are not born but made. Nowadays we celebrate women s day but there are many situations we
had come through to this position and space Punjabi women occupy nowadays, and comparing it to
the times 60 years ago. The age of my grandmother. When the country had just got independence.
When the women are participating in nationalist movements were being pushed into the domestic
household works.
There have been innumerable debates about gender in (Banerjee 2012) Punjab over last 60 years.
Most of them were about women s positions in society, their education, health, economic status,
gender equality. What we can conclude from these discussions is that how women have always held a
certain contradictory position in our developing country in past years. In recent years women held a
very less respectful position . they were not treated as human. On other hand, Punjab has an increased
percentage of literacy among women . now women are allowed to enter into professional fields now.
However, in the 1950s my grandmother tells women were just made to do household chores. They
were not allowed to get higher education or even go out without the permission of parents. They were
supposed to be at home . while on the other hand the practices of female foeticide, poor health
conditions and lack of education persisting still continue. Even the supportive ideology of the home
being women s real domain and marriage being her ultimate destiny has not changed much in last 60
years.

As the Mexicans moved forward they yelled out Viva Santa Anna . De La Pena was at the North wall
and minutes followed and later on captured the confusion. Combat followed with rifle butts, bayonets,
knives, axes, ramrods, and anything else that is hand to hand. There were simply too many Mexicans
coming from too many sides the Texans couldn t defend themselves that good. Most of the women and
children were huddled inside when the walls of the fort were breaded. Outside the main plaza the
battle had entered a different phase that they could no longer keep the Mexicans out. One man
burrowed under the bush while another man hid beneath the bridge spanning the San Antonio River
shooting up to the Mexicans. Travis had prepared for this order small holes pounded through the walls
of some rooms that luckily no people were in. The Mexican offers ordered The Alamo cannon, turned
in word and began blasting away at doors. The columns of Mexican soldiers were hard to stop in the
middle of the dark landscape. Texans were now awake and at their positions. From the cannon nearest
to the Travis, he sent nearly fifty men including one of their captains. The Gen. Cos column had
suffered forty men who were severely killed. The Mexicans cannons were super silent they were
afraid that they would hit their own soldiers. While all of this was happening on the north side of the
fort, the east and south side had their own

The Green Table, By Kurt Jooss And Composed By Fritz A....
The Green Table, choreographed by Kurt Jooss and composed by Fritz A. Cohen, first premiered in
Paris, France and won first place in the Paris choreographic competition held by the International
Archives of the Dance in early July of 1932 (Martin 155). Kurt Jooss (1901 1979) was a German
choreographer and dancer, as well as quite the visionary for his time. Fritz A. Cohen (1904 1967) was
a German composer, who worked closely with Jooss to create this anti war message driven piece. The
ballet Der Grüne Tisch, subtitled, A Tatentanz, achieved praise not only in Paris and Germany, but also
Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and America (Martin 155). As Martin sums up, In eight loosely
connected scenes...it pictures the bitter futility of war (Martin 155). In other words, Jooss explores the
ineffectiveness of violence through a series of scenes depicting battle and woe. The New York stock
market crash in 1929 sparked a worldwide economic crisis ( Hitler Comes to Power ). By June of
1932, six million people were unemployed in Germany and the economic distress led to a rise in the
support for the Nazi party; consequently, the Nazi party won the votes of almost 40 percent of the
electorate in the German parliament elections of July 1932 ( Hitler Comes to Power ). However, by
November of 1932, the Nazi party lost two million votes from the previous July ( Hitler Comes to
Power ). Adolf Hitler formed an alliance with the conservatives and after negotiating for months, Paul

  • 2. The Value Of Positive Guidance II. Introduction Purpose: The purpose of my personal philosophy is to show the value of positive guidance. I want to demonstrate that children are capable of learning new skills that will help them in their development. The importance of positive guidance is to prepare children for adulthood. Through various activities and instruction children will learn ethical principals. Organization: I will start my essay by explaining the importance of positive child guidance. Then I will discuss about how children best in the environment and doing activities. I will discuss about the motives in children s behavior. Then, I will explain the type of skills children need to learn for primary grades and later in life. I will discuss how adults need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children are able to learn these principals through modeling, hands on experiences, being scaffold by a teacher, through observation, role playing, and through individuality. Activities that will teach children these principals are by doing a puppet play, storytelling with a picture book, singing a number song, collect rocks to create a mosaic painting, and do gardening to teach children about nature. Assumptions About the Motives for Young Children s Behaviors: Children behave the way they do because they want social reinforces such as acceptance, compliments, a pad on the back, rewards, encouragement, and praise. Children also behave the way they do because they will have time for free play, and get privileges by behaving well. When children notice positive reinforcements, the child will continue to display positive behavior and will be able to learn new behaviors. Additionally, children who tend to cause chaos in a classroom want attention from peers, or teachers. In this case, children should be taught positive behavior. Assumptions About What Children Need to Learn to Succeed Later in Life: Children who enter primary grades should learn to be ethical in order to respect peers, learn to make the right decisions, be independent, and be caring with peers. • 3. Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Marsin Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World s Fair. The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81 storey building. During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed theWashington Monument to assume the title of the tallest man made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tower was much criticized by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore. Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris. The pig iron structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7,300 tones, while the entire structure, including non metal components, is approximately 10,000 tones. As a demonstration of the economy of design, if the 7,300 tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base to a depth of only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter. Depending on the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to 18 cm because of thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun. Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect it from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to maintain a uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are used on the tower, with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. On occasion the color of the paint is changed; the tower is currently painted a shade of bronze. On the first floor there are interactive consoles hosting a poll for the color to use for a future session of painting. The only non structural elements are the four decorative grillwork arches, added in Stephen Sauvestre s sketches, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effect Of Surface Residues On Weeds Crop residue may be kept in the field in both CT and NT systems (CT+Res and NT+Res, respectively). In CT+Res the residue is incorporated into the soil, with the depth of mixing dependent upon type of tillage. Although incorporated residue may affect weeds via altered nutrient dynamics, the effects will be highly dependent on the type of tillage used, the carbon to nitrogen ratio of the residue, the type of soil, and the environment it will therefore be difficult to extract useful generalities (Liebman and Mohler, 2001, p. 236). Consequently, in this review we focus on the effects of surface residues on weeds. 3.1 Residue Seedbank 3.1.1 Losses 3.1.1.1 Germination Surface residues can affect seed germination via physical and chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As such, decreased weed seed germination due to insufficient light availability is likely not a major advantage of residue retention. Surface residue decreases the daily maximum soil temperature but has little effect on the daily minimum (Teasdale and Mohler, 1993) resulting in two changes: cooler average soil temperatures and less drastic fluctuations. Most agronomic crops and many weeds require soil temperatures above a certain threshold in order to germinate the lower soil temperatures under surface residue would therefore delay germination of both. This delayed germination and resulting shorter growing season of the crop can reduce yield; as such it is important to find the amount of residue which optimizes yield rather than weed control (Wicks et al., 1994). In addition to later germination, some weed species germination is enhanced by larger temperature fluctuations (Liebman and Mohler, 2001, p. 239); the buffered soil temperature could therefore reduce germination rates. Surface residue will conserve soil moisture how this affects germination rates will depend on the environment. In water limited environments, residue may promote germination while in wetter conditions it may have little effect. This is exemplified by a study done in Zimbabwe, where residue was more effective in suppressing weeds in wetter sites (Ngwira et al., 2014). • 6. The Wells Creek Impact Structure The Wells Creek Impact Structure: Impact Melts produces shock metamorphism in the target rock. Michael A. Burklow Department of Geology, University of Tennessee at Martin, Martin, Tennessee 38237, USA Abstract The Wells Creek structure was formed by a meteorite impact in Cumberland, Tennessee (36°〖23〗^ N,87°40 W) which is the northern part of Middle Tennessee. This region is known as the highland rim. The younger and older strata is exposed in two areas in the highland rim which means the older sediment has been eroded and much of the younger sediment remains. The impact produced a variety of structural features. The circular central block contains a circular core of megabreccia about 1520 meters (Ford, 2012). The impacted breccia is monomitic breccia, which is the result of rock deformation from the impact event. The breccia from Wells Creek is homogenous breccia that has been under intense movement and very high confining pressures. The angular Horst is an upthrown block between the two fault blocks and the inner Graben is a downthrown block near the central block (Ford, 2012). The larger impact structure is an anticline which is boarded by a second ring Syncline of the wells creek basin structure (Ford, 2012). The shock wave releases are large amounts of energy from the central point of impact moving outward forming ring anticlines and synclines. The impacted breccia matrix consists of angular fragmented chert, limestone, and dolomite. The wells creek ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Kristallnacht Analysis After the defeat in WWI and the humiliation of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany faced an economic crash and was left under the rule of an unstable democracy. In times of desperate need, the German people favored the Nazi party and elected their own fascist leader, Adolf Hitler. While the Germans simply hoped for bread, work, and the restoration of German pride, they were given much more than they bargained for. Hitler created his own cult of personality and blinded the citizenry to his promotion of racist ideas and stereotypes, which eventually escalated into millions of deaths across Europe, and a war that changed the world. However, Germany s economy after World War I was left in shambles, to the point where people were living off of bread and water. The Führer took advantage of the people s fear and desperation and used it to forward his agenda, presenting himself as their light in the darkness. He created a cult of personality, not unlike those of dictators who ruled at the same time, such as Joseph Stalin Russia and Benito Mussolini of Italy, or even Kim Jong Un of today. An image from 1938 depicts the different Badges of Shame assigned to those in concentration camps, including Jews, homosexuals, immigrants, political enemies, and the mentally ill (Doc 7). Hitler took advantage of symbolism, and in this case used it to categorize and divide his targets, creating a social stigma around those who wore the stars and triangles. He further used symbolism in establishing unity among the German population and solidifying his cult following, by making forcing them to pledge their allegiance to him. An image from 1935 of a Nazi Rally in Nuremberg depicts a huge crowd of young Germans doing the Nazi salute (Doc 6). With a hand gesture stolen from the Romans, he made it his own by adding the words Heil Hitler! . In addition to using symbolism, Hitler used the media and appointed a Minister of Propaganda to build up a positive image. This hero worship allowed Hitler ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Theme Of Insanity In Gothic Literature Insanity Gothic literature can be composed of several themes depending on the purpose the writers intend to convey. William Faulkner, Edgar Allen Poe, and Richard Matheson are virtuosos within the realm of gothic literature. They have perfected the ability to blend fiction and horror through the use of certain gothic elements. Through their many works, such as A Rose for Emily, Prey, and The Black Cat, the authors implement numerous themes regarding violence and entrapment existing in both the metaphorical and literal state. The authors successfully apply these elements in order to illustrate their belief that loneliness and grief can motivate inhumane actions, further progressing the state of insanity. The townspeople let their curiosity consume them and following the passing of Emily, they enter her abandoned house. Upon uncovering that what was left of [Homer], rotted (Faulkner 1074) in her bed, they acknowledge Emily had poisoned Homer in an effort to relieve her loneliness; which, in return, cost Homer his life. Even though violence may not be the only element present in these short stories, it does reflect the length at which people are willing to go in order to acquire what they desire. Similarly to violence, entrapment is another overarching theme prevalent within these literary works. Throughout The Black Cat, the evil eclipses the good. The narrator becomes consumed with dread upon the murdering of his former best friend: Pluto. He begins to feel as though he is in a felon s cell (Poe 3) and there is no way out. Even though the narrator is not physically trapped, he believes his own house is equivalent to a prison. His internal turmoil clouds his rational thinking and he is unable to escape his true desires. • 12. Malaria In Kenya Essay In Kenya, an African country that is affected by Plasmodium falciparum, the most aggressive of the four species of malaria, the negative economic impact of malaria can be clearly seen. Malaria related GDP losses reached 2 6% of the total economic output of the country, with 58% of those losses being in the agricultural sector and 7% in the industrial sector (Chima, 2003). When workers or their children contract malaria, they are unable to go to work, work effectively, or spend money on things other than treatment (Chima, 2003). In other words, malaria acts as a drain on both the productivity of a country, as often there is no other person available to take the place of the absent worker. Furthermore, the costs of finding alternates to replace workers who have fallen ill, or must take care of their children is placed squarely on the shoulders of businesses, while the individual who contracted malaria, or must care for someone who has malaria is unable to both earn money for their absent days, as well as spend money in areas other than the treatment of malaria, thus stimulation only a small portion of the economy, and effectively blocking the circulation of funds in the economy to their fullest extent (Chima, 2003). Moreover, when examining the intersection between the medical impacts of malaria on the human and the social consequences, a vicious cycle is revealed in which the body, the community, and the economy are all similarly impacted by the presence of malaria in a ... The main difference between Judaism and the previously mentioned religions is that Judaism is based on the old testament entirely excluding the new testaments in its teachings. Jews believe that they are the people chosen by God and that because of the covenant they have the duty, more than any other group of people, to keep the law of God. Although the one in the temple does not utilize olive oil or real fire, the candlelight on top represents the eternal light that the sanctuary had which burn with pure olive oil. The arc is an extremely important symbol in Judaism. It contains several beautiful Torah s with covers with different captivating designs. The beauty of the Torah s cover is important because it is the word of God and it is a way too honor God. The Torah s are to be written in parchment by a Jewish scribe who has special training and it takes about a year for one to written. Theresa Wiseman, a nursing scholar in 1996, studied professions where the relevancy of empathy was crucial and developed the following four qualities of empathy: 1. Perspective adoption the ability to take the perspective of another individual or recognise their perspective as their truth. This requires putting our issues and perspectives aside to see the situation through their eyes. 2. Being non judgmental the ability to set aside one s beliefs or principals to assist another in their situation. The judgement of another person s situation discounts the experience and is an attempt to protect ourselves from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the spectator might draw comparisons between how he/she handled the situation in the past and how the character handles the situation in the present, which could cause tension and unwarranted judgment. Something which must be avoided according to Wiseman s four qualities. Presently, society is quick to judge an individual or their situation. It is easier for a spectator to set aside their judgment for the duration of a film or to suspend their belief even for a moment, in order to assess the situation a character is in before making a judgment on them particularly when a character does not fit a certain mould. Spectators are more willing to wait and see how a character develops before they give them a final judgment. In reality, this is not the case because an individual will, more often than not, judge another individual on face value rather than waiting to gain a complete understanding of the situation. This brings up the idea that spectators are controlled less by their superegos while being a spectator. A spectator is more accepting of anomalous and fictitious characters than what they are of real individuals who are seen by society as non conformist. In some ways, being a spectator could be seen as a shield from the judgment of others, others who cannot be empathetic towards the plights of those who they perceive as anomalous. The ability to ... • 15. Examples Of Catalase Lab Report Part A was just a beginning. The experiment showed us what a normal catalase reaction really is. We had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef liver. At first we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical reaction was going on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being released as well as a combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to estimate the reaction rates by the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2. Another experiment we did was testing if catalase was reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact, reusable. The basics of a normal catalase reaction is what we learned about part A. Everything kept growing more and more into depth with our experiments as we went on during our lab. CONCLUSION PART B ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The group conducted three experiments: one contained potato and H2O2, another had apple and H2O2, and the last had chicken liver and H2O2. We added 2mL of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to all three test tubes. The bubbling effect proved that all three had catalase in them. We realized that the more the substance bubbled the more catalase it contained, and that the less it bubbled, the less catalase there was. All the evidence seems to indicate, that the universe has not existed forever, but that it had a beginning, about 15 billion years ago. This is probably the most remarkable discovery of modern cosmology. Yet it is now taken for granted. We are not yet certain whether the universe will have an end. When I gave a lecture in Japan, I was asked not to mention the possible re collapse of the universe, because it might affect the stock market. However, I can re assure anyone who is nervous about their investments that it is a bit early to sell: even if the universe does come to an end, it won t be for at least twenty billion years. By that time, maybe the GATT trade agreement will have come into effect. The time scale of the universe is very long compared to that for human life. It was therefore not surprising that until recently, the universe was thought to be essentially static, and unchanging in time. Something beautiful can be said of poems that were written about blackberries. The descriptive words poets use, can make a simple fruit into something truly amazing. These poems all compare blackberries, making them seem like more than they are. These two poems are dedicated to different seasons of blackberry picking, describe the fruit itself to be something different, and are written with different writing styles. The first lines of both poems begin with a time. Blackberry picking takes place in late August. Heaney described the weather needed for that time of year to find the perfect blackberries. He told the reader, given heavy rain and sun for a full week, the blackberries would ripen. This is very similar to what Kinnell is saying with the first lines of his poem, Blackberry Eating . To avert ruinous price wars, these companies typically enter into exclusive supplier contracts with aircraft manufacturers. In such arrangements, the engine maker becomes the sole provider of jet engines for a specific aircraft model. In addition, the big jet engine makers give heavily discounted price, partly to lock in lucrative long term replacement parts, repairs and maintenace business, thereby reducing the power of these jet engine makers. • 27. The View Of The Afterlife Essay Classical World Influences Introduction The aim of my report is to explain how the view of the afterlife in Ancient Greece has shaped works of art, books and the mentality of people. In order to do this I am going to explore how ancient Greek people saw the underworld as well as Roman people and the Renaissance period. Because Greeks saw the underworld as a dark, dreadful and gloomy place, many of the works that refer to it, either in Roman times or the Renaissance, are influenced by this view. In particular works like the Odyssey by Homer or The Phaedo by Plato, explained to a certain level the structure of the afterlife in ancient Greece. These two pieces of literature severely influenced works like the book VI of the Aeneid by Virgil where he depicts the underworld referencing to the Greek point of view. But a deeper description of the underworld is given by Dante in his Divine Comedy where he uses Virgil as his guide, from the depths of hell to the Purgatory while Beatrice, Dante s ideal woman, guides him through heaven. All these time periods shared the idea of the underworld as being a place where souls pay the sins they committed during their lives. Afterlife in Ancient Greece The afterlife in ancient Greece was Known as Hades. It was a grey world ruled by Hades, the Lord of the Dead. If they had a virtuous life they could enjoy the sunny pleasures of the Elysium or paradise, if they had a wicked life, then they fell into the dark pits of Tartarus, while if they ... As humans, we become accustomed to recognise others from outer body appearances, not their insides. To complicate matters, morphological and metric changes can differ within and between human population groups due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors (DiGangi and Moore, 2012). An example of this is nutritional deficiency, which effects males more than females and causes reduced sexual dimorphism (Ross, Baker and Falsetti, 2003). He is currently deciding on re electing his business and giving his daughter 40% ownership of the business. When a current owner brings in new business associates, allocating a percentage of ownership is crucial. The individual with majority share has the voting power to make or break critical business decisions. An even 50/50 spilt might create a deadlock which could negatively impact the business. The behavioral results showed the best performance for the faces presented bilaterally, and the better performance for the left than the right face. ERP results showed no evidence of asymmetric transfer of information between the hemispheres at early stages of visual processing, and a shorter latency of the face specific N170 component to the left than the right face together with a larger amplitude at 220 280 and 400 600 msec over both hemispheres, indicated that the two

  • 36. Summary Of William Goldman s The Princess Bride The Princess Bride, written by William Goldman, is no ordinary fairy tale, most fairy tales are straightforward, the fact that it is told through a frame narrative, adding additional layers, makes the story more confusing. Although it does not fully fit the conventions of an ordinary fairy tale, it does fit the conventions of oral story telling. Through the preface and interruptions, Goldman simulates oral storytelling, with a hint of fantasy, in his novel, in order to recreate the moment in which his father told him the story. Throughout the novel, Goldman reminds his readers that this novel should be listened to not read. The beginning of the novel is not the actual story, but instead a preface in which a fictional William Goldman, the narrator, tells the readers about parts of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the novel, the fictive Goldman interrupts parts of the story to add a few of his remarks, his interruption, right before the protagonist, Buttercup, is introduced, marked the first of many. Goldman says, When I said at the start [the preface] I d never read this book, that s true. My father read it to me (Goldman 96). Here, the reader comes to a realization about why he is interrupting. Goldman is abridging the novel so the readers could read it as the good parts version, in other words, the version in which Goldman s father read to him as a child; this makes the story feel like it is told not read (adding onto the oral story telling element). Another example of further emphasis on the story telling aspect happens when Buttercup is in the Florin Channel, Goldman interrupts with a childhood memory, She doesn t get eaten by sharks at this time, my father said, (107). This line, just as it reassured young Goldman, reassured the readers through his father s voice. This supports the storyteller role because only through an oral story can the storyteller directly respond to the listener s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It continues to be and is seen as a melding pot of its European and Native American ideas about society, law and government. Its history has had a major influence on the political culture of Mexico, seen through years of revolution, violence and corruption. Mexico is a considered a new democracy, but there is a tension still seen between democracy and authoritarianism. The country we see today has impressive growth yet is still enduring poverty. It s a geographically diverse country, with a population of approximately 106million people. Latin American political culture is seen as elitist, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is said that in December 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared on three occasions to a Christian Indian, Juan Diego, six kilometers north of Mexico City, and identified herself as Guadalupe. It reflects the salient social relationships of Mexican life and embodies the emotions they generate. (Merrill Miró, Religion) Devotion to the Virgin Guadalupe remains strong even as Mexican society changes. For example, in a national opinion poll found, nine out of ten Mexicans still continued to ask intercessions from the Virgin or another saint. Many Mexicans attribute the origins of the political system in Mexico to the Revolution of 1910 1920 and it s Constitution of 1917. Unlike their American neighbors, the people of Mexico focus and look to the past, not the future, to there missed dreams and hopes. Many people of Mexico support and have faith and pride in the Constitution of 1917, agree with the goals of the Revolution and support their political institutions. • 38. Unauthorized Immigration Currently, the problem of unauthorized immigration divides Congress along political party lines. Many politicians who are anti immigrant and pro immigrant seek for ways by which they can impact their political base. As research shows, politicians and anti immigrant groups take advantage of the mass media in order to persuade their constituency. The media uses quantitative data analysis of the unauthorized population to create a media spectacle, by the portrayal of unauthorized immigrants as criminals (Correa Cabrera 2012). This media spectacle serves to exploit the fears of many Americans who oppose legalization. As a result, many people feel encouraged to contact their local representatives to stand against the legalization of the unauthorized population. Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 First, it is important to present a historical context of unauthorized immigration to understand the current dilemma. In order to change discriminatory immigration policies, the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was signed into law. After the 1965 act, immigration from Asia and Latin America increased dramatically. However, for Latin America countries, the legislation restricted the number of legal entries into the United States. Since the bill allowed for visas through family reunification, the number of immigrants from Latin American countries increased, thus exhausting the available visas. The result of these events created chain migration which caused unauthorized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Developing A World Class Education System Regional Context Producing a world class education system to strengthen human capital and to produce the skills necessary for the citizenry, was a goal which drove Jamaica s initiatives as they continue to strive to build strength to compete in the global economy (Davis, 2004). According to Davis (2004) to achieve this goal the Jamaican authorities formulated a task force to assess and propose the way forward in education in their country. From the assessment, the task force suggested a number of recommendations, one of which was the implementation of a seamless K to 12 system. • 42. The Concept Of The Jumping Robot ABSTRACT: Depending upon the type of terrain an¬¬d application, robot motion varies from simple translatory motion to complex motions like walking, jumping, climbing. Jumping is a preferred mode over others when it comes to crossing obstacles that are of a size larger than the robots own body. It is better to jump over a terrain with irregular surface, debris, ground cracks than climbing and crossing over them. A new mechanism for increasing the usefulness of ground robots in surveillance applications has been proposed, which adds a jumping ability to the existing wheeled motion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The robot will be driven with two motorized wheels and a balancing tail which will provide the third point of contact. The jumping action will be obtained with the aid of the tail. The task is to tug the tail within the body of the robot, preserving the normal reaction force with the ground and then releasing it as it produces the energy to lift the robot body off the ground. Fig 1. Conceptual 3D model of the Jumping Robot Existing methods to activate the tail on a wheeled robot are winching mechanism[4] [5] and pneumatics[6][7] .In winching an additional actuator, required to hold the sheet in a coiled state increases the power requirements and also adds extra weight to the body of the robot. For pneumatics, the size of the robot increases due to the compressor involved. Also the number of firings that can be produced are limited. Any drop in the pressure of compressed air will also lead to malfunctioning of the jumping mechanism. Considering the difficulties faced above, the proposed system shall make use of compression springs. The tail will be spring loaded. • 43. Deep Sea Sounding On Challenger 11. Deep sea sounding on Challenger HMS Challenger sounding logs show that by September 1873, the Baillie was used to conduct most of Challenger s deep sea sounding work. Unlike a wire sounder tested and rejected earlier in the voyage, the Baillie sounder was able to move within the ship s existing system of instrumentation and materials. As with HMS Sylvia, sounding was conducted from the mainyard, and a steam engine on the deck helped to retrieve the sounder from the ocean floor. Similar to the Hydra, officers timed and calculated the Baillie s rate of decent. When the sounder slowed, the ocean s depth was ascertained by the length of the sounding line. 12. Other instruments It is often overlooked that the Baillie sounder worked as a system with other instruments. In addition to the sounder, several thermometers, a water collection bottle and a pressure gauge were often attached to the hemp sounding line. In this manner, the Baillie sounder worked in concert with several other instruments collecting information about the ocean floor. The ability of the Baillie sounder to transport sea floor materials to the surface was useful for the laying of telegraph cables, but also essential for scientific analysis. Samples of the ocean bottom provided key evidence for developing theories about life in the deep ocean, and how species evolved over time. For example, in 1865 zoologist Thomas Huxley claimed Bathybius haecklii was a type of primordial ooze that lived on the deep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Educational Value Of Virtual Reality I Have a Question! : The Educational Value of Virtual Reality Since the 1950 s, virtual reality (VR) has been hovering on the periphery of technology without achieving accepted mainstream application or commercial adoption. However, that is beginning to change and virtual reality has become a popular topic within the latest technological headlines. According to TechCrunch, VR startups have raised more than $1.46 billion in venture capital, and people believe that this is the year that VR will finally take off. Virtual reality provides an escape from reality through a portal to an alternate reality with a landscape that feels realistic. As VR becomes more popular, some educators and employers are looking to incorporate VR as a primary teaching tool due to its widespread and numerous uses. However, while virtual reality may seem like a beneficial educational tool, problems will inevitably arise from the development and implementation of VR in education, and a middle ground will need to be discovered. While statistics on VR use in K 12 schools and colleges have yet to be gathered, the steady growth of the market is reflected in the surge of companies solely dedicated to providing K 12 schools with packaged educational curriculum, content, teacher training and technological tools to support VR based instruction in classrooms around the world. However, this is not the first time that this concept had existed. On one hand, it is important to keep in mind that there are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The age of my grandmother. When the country had just got independence. When the women are participating in nationalist movements were being pushed into the domestic household works. There have been innumerable debates about gender in (Banerjee 2012) Punjab over last 60 years. Most of them were about women s positions in society, their education, health, economic status, gender equality. What we can conclude from these discussions is that how women have always held a certain contradictory position in our developing country in past years. In recent years women held a very less respectful position . they were not treated as human. On other hand, Punjab has an increased percentage of literacy among women . now women are allowed to enter into professional fields now. However, in the 1950s my grandmother tells women were just made to do household chores. They were not allowed to get higher education or even go out without the permission of parents. They were supposed to be at home . while on the other hand the practices of female foeticide, poor health conditions and lack of education persisting still continue. Cohen, first premiered in Paris, France and won first place in the Paris choreographic competition held by the International Archives of the Dance in early July of 1932 (Martin 155). Kurt Jooss (1901 1979) was a German choreographer and dancer, as well as quite the visionary for his time. Fritz A. Cohen (1904 1967) was a German composer, who worked closely with Jooss to create this anti war message driven piece. The ballet Der Grüne Tisch, subtitled, A Tatentanz, achieved praise not only in Paris and Germany, but also Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and America (Martin 155). As Martin sums up, In eight loosely connected scenes...it pictures the bitter futility of war (Martin 155). In other words, Jooss explores the ineffectiveness of violence through a series of scenes depicting battle and woe.
