The article discusses population growth and its impacts. It mentions that a study of around 800 rural women in Bangladesh found that economic factors are a key reason for declining birth rates and smaller family sizes in developing countries. The study showed that poor economic conditions, malnutrition and increasing mortality rates have continuously reduced population growth in Bangladesh. It states that declines in fertility, rising mortality rates and economic hardships are steadily lowering the population growth rate. The conclusion is that strong economic factors are primarily responsible for controlling population growth. - The major political parties are divided into two factions over holding or obstructing the second Constituent Assembly elections scheduled for November 4. This has created a volatile political environment in Nepal.
- While the Election Commission and government are preparing for the elections, the disagreements between parties have prevented the formation of a peaceful election atmosphere. Parties are more focused on winning the elections rather than ensuring free and fair polls.
- The major parties like NC, UML and Maoists are carrying out campaigns targeting the elections while the opposition led by Maoists wants the elections postponed. This has created uncertainty over whether the elections will indeed take place on November 4.

The wrong information can lead to inappropriate, even dangerous interventions.

This document provides the final evaluation report of a four-year project in Nepal that aimed to reintegrate child domestic workers with their families, strengthen families to prevent child separation, and build local child protection capacity. The evaluation utilized qualitative and quantitative methods across project sites between April and December 2015. However, sustainability remains a concern as support withdrawal is incomplete and local ownership not fully embedded. Key recommendations include extending support timelines, deepening employer engagement, integrating livelihoods, and improving project planning and accountability.

Domestic Workers are less counted labor sector in global and Nepali society. In spite of their presence with more than 150 thousand all over the country, their work is not counted in the national economy, neither they are provided state protection by law and nor their situation have been interrogated seriously. However there are some studies with concentration on child domestic workers, the overall study of domestic workers has not been counted and this study is the first such
kind of study in Nepal.
This handbook provides guidance for local child protection committees on implementing effective child protection programs. It outlines issues that committees can address, example programs they can run, and ways to mobilize resources. The handbook aims to make committee activities more focused and impactful, increase their engagement, and provide members and staff practical information on child protection issues, program options and funding sources. It is intended to strengthen the capacity of local actors to protect vulnerable children from harm.
The Child Protection Policy and Procedures aimed to enhance CWISH quality of work with children through building and enabling environment for children to participate with the help of policy and procedure to safeguard children in contact with CWISH from any forms of harms and potential risk.
This document is an introductory chapter to a guidebook on child participation in child protection. It discusses that child protection issues in Nepal arise from various social, cultural, economic and political factors. Involving children themselves in addressing protection issues is important to make processes more effective and respect children's rights. The guidebook aims to increase effectiveness of child participation practices in protection by providing information to practitioners. It emphasizes viewing issues from the child's perspective and involving them in decisions that affect their lives.
This document provides guidelines for operating Early Childhood Development (ECD) classes. ECD classes aim to encourage family reunification and alternative livelihood opportunities for children engaged in domestic child labor. The classes use participatory child-friendly methods and aim to improve educational attainment and chances for family reunification. They are community-based and target children under 16 years of age engaged in domestic child labor who have been separated from their families. The guidelines discuss participant profiles, class structure, objectives, processes, and expectations.
The document discusses the background context of Nepal, including its population, human development levels, and religious and ethnic diversity. It then examines the status of children and childhood in Nepal, noting that nearly half the population is under 18, and exploring the legal, social, and gender-based concepts of childhood according to factors like caste, family wealth, and cultural traditions.
This document summarizes a study on children living without parental care in Nepal conducted by Children and Women In Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH) in cooperation with AC International Child Support. The study mapped nine sectors with high numbers of separated children, including child labor, child marriages, trafficking, and institutional care. It found that separated children often face deprivations to their health, education, safety, and psychosocial well-being. The study identified various actors involved in separation, as well as underlying intentions and factors that encourage the separation of children from their families in Nepal. It concludes with recommendations to better protect children's rights to parental care.
It is well documented that the most vulnerable populations are often exploited during the chaotic aftermath of a natural disaster1. In Nepal today that vulnerable population is children who have become orphaned, displaced or separated from their families. Once trafficked, these children are subject to exploitation within labor, brought into child care home/orphanages, illegal international adoption and/or the sex trade. Nepal currently has a Tier 2 ranking on the risk of human trafficking2 and, based on estimates from the US Department of Labor, has approximately 2 million children between the age of 5-14 engaged in labor3.
CWISH from the day of its establishment has been rigorously working for ensuring the rights of children and this year too we could bring change in the lives of vulnerable children. This was possible by adopting various strategies and working directly with children, school, and communities to advocating on promoting children's rights in community, district and National level.
CWISH conceptualized campaigns like Green Flag Movement against child labor and Youth in Black Cap against Child Sexual Abuse which has been success to create a momentum in reducing violence against children.
Nepal is in the process of drafting new constitution. In this context, CWISH engaged with members of constitutional assembly, parliament and the civil society to ensure children's right in the constitution. Further, CWISH instigated to review 25 years of Convention on the rights of Child (CRC) in Nepal which is in the process to document achievements, learning, challenges and providing recommendations.

Peace, Conflict and National Adaptation Plan (NAP) ProcessesNAP Global Network
Conflict-affected countries dealing with national defense issues, the deaths and suffering of their people, and a fragile peace environment might find it challenging to prioritize climate change action. However, ignoring their adaptation needs while striving to promote peace would be a mistake, as there are close links between climate change and fragility.
