1.0 Introduction
It is a fact that we live in a high technology world with classrooms of high technology. Students now have the chance to enjoy the benefits of using iPads in classrooms, the opportunity to integrate tweets during presentations and the teachers also have the benefit of teaching students through the use of smart TVs. The use of internet facilitates communication internationally or even nationally and helps the students maintain close ties with family and friends most especially those leaving far away. In accordance to different researches, many college students use internet for interpersonal communication which is mostly through emails, instant messaging as well as chat programs (Gemmill & Peterson, 2006). The major benefits that are associated with the use of technology while teaching include increasing the interaction of students, adding diversity of the lessons and enabling the idea of bringing new knowledge and perspectives to the class. But despite the advantages that students may enjoy from the use of high technology, many other negative impacts may result as a result of using the technology inappropriately or over-usage. This essay majorly aims at evaluating the main benefits that students are likely to embrace when they use high technology in classes as well as negative impacts that may affect students learning and concentration in class. The essay also aims at evaluating the literature showing the studies that have earlier been conducted on the impacts of technology to college students. For teachers, students and parents to enjoythe best of the advancement in technology, they must be able to recognize their weaknesses and try and get rid of them ( DeLoatch, 2015).
Just like any other aspect, the advancement in technology has it benefits as well as its consequences. Many of college teens spend a significant portion of their time in screen and most especially computers and smartphones. Not all the time the teens spend on the computers or the smartphones goes to waste since it may also be beneficial to the student’s college experience. The student is able to learn about various technological devices as well as several uses before going to the college and thus the student is more prepared for the class. The best advantage of useof technology is the ability to connect with people both internationally and nationally but many students use internet just to fill all the time they have, neglect normal social interactions or even avoid other life responsibilities (Inoue, 2007). In the last four decades, continuous research has been conducted on the impacts of technology in the lives of people. While no consensus has been reached, it may be argued that in many aspects of society, technology has both positive and negative impacts. Educational institutions have embraced technology to some extent in the management of the academic load of both the teachers and the students. According to a 2012 study, students are more engaged when technology is involved in their education process which results in improved retention of the learned information (Page). Other studies argue that more harm has resulted from the adoption of technology. Cell phones are nearly ubiquitous in the college classroom. This study asks two primary
questions regarding the making and breaking of in-class cell phone policies. In what manner
are students using their phones and how can faculty members minimize the potential for
phone-related distractions? To answer these questions we analyze original survey data from
nearly 400 college students across multiple public and private universities to better
understand the students’ impulse to use their phones during class. Results from the survey
demonstrate that more than 80% of students use their phone at least once per class and that
students generally believe this to be an acceptable practice. These student data are
supplemented with survey data from close to 100 college faculty to evaluate a range of
policy options for dealing with this issue. From this analysis, it is clear that the policies most
frequently implemented by instructors are typically perceived by students as the least
effective.

INTRODUCTION
Cell phones have become a ubiquitous feature in American
society. A 2014 survey by a communication industry orga-
nization estimated that the United States, with a population
of approximately 317 million, had nearly 336 million wire-
less subscriptions, meaning that wireless connection pene-
tration stood at an astonishing 104.3% (CITA 2014). This
number continues to climb. Studies from a broad array of
disciplines have examined the myriad ways that cell phones
have transformed society, business, communication, health,
and numerous other facets of daily life, including education
(Campbell 2006; Gilroy 2004; Jenaro et al. 2007; Katz
2005; Wei and Leung 1999).
As educators well know, cell phones have become per-
vasive in the classroom. While many scholars offer sug-
gestions about how to make cell phones a useful
pedagogical tool (Katz 2003; Kinsella 2009; Lindquist
et al. 2007; Prensky 2005; Schell, Lukoff and Mazur
2013; Scornavacca et al. 2009; Valk et al. 2010), others
bemoan the distracting nature of cell phones in the class-
room. One scholar has gone as far as likening cell phone
interruptions during class to a form of “technological
terror,” citing the multitude of ways that a single cell
phone can disrupt an entire class (Gilroy 2004, 56). While
this term is admittedly hyperbolic, nearly every educator
has had to deal with problems related to student cell phone
use and interruptions during class. The actual distractions
caused by cell phones can vary widely across campuses
and classrooms. This study contributes to a small but
growing literature on cell phone use in the classroom
(Baker et al. 2012; Campbell 2006; Campbell and Russo
2003; End et al. 2010; Gil.

Overview
Mathematics is a subject that has no substitute and is compulsory in all modern schools. It teaches students to have the skills to count as well as perform both simple and technical arithmetical questions. Arithmetic is applicable in all professions thus the need for it to be compulsory in all modern schools globally (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015). Nonetheless, the main stresses associated with arithmetic is, understanding the new concepts in new topics. Many teachers are regarded as the cause of this problem as they fail to understand the concept of comprehension. Many teachers work with the assumption that if students understand the basic rules of mathematics, grasping the new technical terms and formulas can have similar results (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015). This problem is also not rectified by the regulators as they offer little to no support over the matter. It should be understood that students have different levels or varying computing powers. This means that they can easily make errors by either misreading the signs (computational error) or may misunderstand the underlying concept thus using the wrong logic. Overall, there is a common factor with this problem the inability to connect easily the theoretical features of math with reality (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015). The proposed intervention is to use digital or virtual teaching techniques to reduce these problems with the long-term aim of eliminating it. The use of computers or simulations to teach students is not new, as several schools have implemented technology in the curriculum in one mode or the other. The main advantage of this technique is that it implements the broad number of learning techniques allowing the students to familiarize themselves with one. This eliminates the limit set by teachers as they teach the course (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015).

Technology has evolved rapidly in the past decades; it has given way for more processing power, storage capacity and variation in sizes of devices. It has also evolved other sectors in the process such as education; many learning institutions have made the shift from the conventional learning techniques to digital. In over forty years,researchers have shown the impacts of technology and have been so essential in our day to day lives. Technology affects many areas of a society both positively and negatively. This study examines the experiences of two college professors integrating technology into their classrooms. The professors teach at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Data was collected through individual interviews with each professor, observations of their classes, follow-up interviews after observations, and a focus group interview. The study aims to understand the actual experiences of these professors in integrating technology, how their teaching theories influence technology use, their understanding of technological pedagogical content knowledge, and their levels of innovativeness. Previous research has focused less on college professors' perspectives, and this study provides insights into the challenges and benefits of technology integration from their point of view.
This study explored the main barriers to effective integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Harare Secondary School Education. Data were collected using close ended questionnaires. Participatory research was also carried out to familiarize with the changes happening in secondary schools with respect to integration of ICT in education and to find out the challenges being faced. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). The results showed that although teachers are aware of the benefits of using ICTs in education there was still limited use of this pedagogy in classrooms as teachers were facing a number of challenges which acted as barriers to the successful implementation of ICT in education. These include lack of a clear sense of direction on how to use ICT to enhance the learning of students, inadequate resources and support as well as lack of the required technological skills among the teachers. The study recommends that effective planning to counter these barriers before implementation would greatly increase the effectiveness of ICT integration in secondary schools.

Overview
Mathematics is a subject that has no substitute and is compulsory in all modern schools. It teaches students to have the skills to count as well as perform both simple and technical arithmetical questions. Arithmetic is applicable in all professions thus the need for it to be compulsory in all modern schools globally (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015). Nonetheless, the main stresses associated with arithmetic is, understanding the new concepts in new topics. Many teachers are regarded as the cause of this problem as they fail to understand the concept of comprehension. Many teachers work with the assumption that if students understand the basic rules of mathematics, grasping the new technical terms and formulas can have similar results (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015). This problem is also not rectified by the regulators as they offer little to no support over the matter. It should be understood that students have different levels or varying computing powers. This means that they can easily make errors by either misreading the signs (computational error) or may misunderstand the underlying concept thus using the wrong logic. Overall, there is a common factor with this problem the inability to connect easily the theoretical features of math with reality (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015). The proposed intervention is to use digital or virtual teaching techniques to reduce these problems with the long-term aim of eliminating it. The use of computers or simulations to teach students is not new, as several schools have implemented technology in the curriculum in one mode or the other. The main advantage of this technique is that it implements the broad number of learning techniques allowing the students to familiarize themselves with one. This eliminates the limit set by teachers as they teach the course (Brown, Dehoney & Millichap, 2015).

Technology has evolved rapidly in the past decades; it has given way for more processing power, storage capacity and variation in sizes of devices. It has also evolved other sectors in the process such as education; many learning institutions have made the shift from the conventional learning techniques to digital. This study examines the experiences of two college professors integrating technology into their classrooms. The professors teach at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Data was collected through individual interviews with each professor, observations of their classes, follow-up interviews after observations, and a focus group interview. The study aims to understand the actual experiences of these professors in integrating technology, how their teaching theories influence technology use, their understanding of technological pedagogical content knowledge, and their levels of innovativeness. Previous research has focused less on college professors' perspectives, and this study provides insights into the challenges and benefits of technology integration from their point of view.
This study explored the main barriers to effective integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Harare Secondary School Education. Data were collected using close ended questionnaires. Participatory research was also carried out to familiarize with the changes happening in secondary schools with respect to integration of ICT in education and to find out the challenges being faced. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). The results showed that although teachers are aware of the benefits of using ICTs in education there was still limited use of this pedagogy in classrooms as teachers were facing a number of challenges which acted as barriers to the successful implementation of ICT in education. These include lack of a clear sense of direction on how to use ICT to enhance the learning of students, inadequate resources and support as well as lack of the required technological skills among the teachers. American opinion has indeed shaped politic consequences, political interests, and policymaking. Even with little or no interest in policymaking and politics, the assumption of democracy gives the citizens the power to freely air out their issues and give their opinion in matters of political concern. Taking the war in Iraq, it posed a significant economic and political imbalance. However, support from the politicians was negligible. And because a majority of the Americans opposed the war in Iran, they voted for a Democratic congressional candidate. Their opinion played a great deal in making concrete policies in response to the war in Iraq.
Public opinion is a reflection of the citizens’ view on how the government responds to national politics. Political actions are driven by the citizen’s opinion (Erikson, & Tedin, 2015). It sheds light on the outcomes of specific policies and helps the political candidates identify the characters demanded of them by the citizens. Political scholars argued that the perception of old public opinions was changed because of ambiguity and inaccuracy (Dür, 2019). Modern theories came to identify public opinion as either latent or a broad expression. Latent opinions are formed on the spot, while broad expressions are opinions that had earlier been formed and remained stable (Cantril, 2015).
When convincing policymakers, it proves difficult, interest groups may indirectly influence public opinion. They can achieve this through the media, holding rallies, or handing out leaflets to the public (Dür, 2019). Because the citizens have little or no information on policymaking, they can easily be swayed by interest groups. Interest groups can, therefore, successfully source their support from public opinion or not.
Public opinion remains relevant in American politics. Journalists, politicians, and political scientists should focus on getting the public’s opinion on state affairs. In as much as views might differ or change, establishing a common ground will help in policymaking (Dür, 2019). For the war in Iraq, the Democratic gained power over the senate and House. This was greatly influenced by the failure of public support that shifted the pro-Democratic in 2006 and the 2008 elections. Because opinions are not fixed, establishing a connection between public views and political outcomes might be impossible.

UDL has gained in popularity over the last decade both in the K-12 and the post-secondary sectors. The usefulness of UDL to create inclusive learning experiences for the full array of diverse learners has been well documented in the literature, and there is now increasing scholarship examining the process of integrating UDL strategically across organisations. One concern, however, remains under-reported and under-researched. Much of the scholarship on UDL ironically remains while and Eurocentric. Even if UDL, as a discourse, considers the decolonization of the curriculum, it is abundantly clear that the research and advocacy related to UDL originates almost exclusively from the Global North and from a Euro-Caucasian authorship. It is argued that it is high time for the way UDL has been monopolized by Global North scholars and practitioners to be challenged. Voices discussing and framing UDL, from the Global South and Indigenous communities, must be amplified and showcased in order to rectify this glaring imbalance and contradiction.
This session represents an opportunity for the author to reflect on a volume he has just finished editing entitled Decolonizing UDL and to highlight and share insights into the key innovations, promising practices, and calls for change, originating from the Global South and Indigenous Communities, that have woven the canvas of this book. The session seeks to create a space for critical dialogue, for the challenging of existing power dynamics within the UDL scholarship, and for the emergence of transformative voices from underrepresented communities. It is a fact that we live in a high technology world with
classrooms of high technology. Students now have the chance to
enjoy the benefits of using iPads in classrooms, the opportunity
to integrate tweets during presentations and the teachers also
have the benefit of teaching students through the use of smart
TVs. The use of internet facilitates communication
internationally or even nationally and helps the students
maintain close ties with family and friends most especially
those leaving far away. In accordance to different researches,
many college students use internet for interpersonal
communication which is mostly through emails, instant
messaging as well as chat programs (Gemmill & Peterson,
2006). The major benefits that are associated with the use of

students, adding diversity of the lessons and enabling the idea
of bringing new knowledge and perspectives to the class. But
despite the advantages that students may enjoy from the use of
high technology, many other negative impacts may result as a
result of using the technology inappropriately or over-usage.
This essay majorly aims at evaluating the main benefits that
students are likely to embrace when they use high technology in
classes as well as negative impacts that may affect students
learning and concentration in class. The essay also aims at
evaluating the literature showing the studies that have earlier
been conducted on the impacts of technology to college
students. For teachers, students and parents to enjoythe best of
the advancement in technology, they must be able to recognize

Just like any other aspect, the advancement in technology has it
benefits as well as its consequences. Many of college teens
spend a significant portion of their time in screen and most
especially computers and smartphones. Not all the time the
teens spend on the computers or the smartphones goes to waste
since it may also be beneficial to the student’s college
experience. The student is able to learn about various
technological devices as well as several uses before going to the
college and thus the student is more prepared for the class. The
best advantage of useof technology is the ability to connect with
people both internationally and nationally but many students
use internet just to fill all the time they have, neglect normal
social interactions or even avoid other life responsibilities
(Inoue, 2007). Other negative implications of technology to
students may include loneliness, increased stress, disruption in
paying attention in class, reduction in the grades attained, study
disruptions, negative peer feedback and internet addiction as
well (Ahlquist, 2013).
2.0 Literature Review
This is generally the theoretical background proving the
arguments of other studies earlier conducted on the impact of
3. technology to college students.Different researchers express
different reviews and therefore over time there havebeen mixed
reviews in literature in regardless to college students’ use of
technology. Some of the studies focus on the benefits of using
such technology to the students, while others focus on the
negative side of the technology use to students.A study
conducted by Lloyd, Dean & Copper in 2007 put into
consideration a variety of technological media that was used by
college students. The study determined the effects such
technology had on the relationship of the peers, their wellness
and their scholastic involvement. After carrying out the study,
they concluded that the students who use the technology can
either suffer or benefit due to the fact that despite the
advantages of technology advancement, there are also
disadvantages. They mentioned certain benefits of using the
technology which included entertainment, acquisition of
knowledge and socialization. Some of the negative impacts of
technology use by college students that they identified included
health impacts, reduction in academic success because many
students focus on the entertainment, effect on personal
relationship. They therefore stated that professionals of
student’s affairs need to understand how and why the students
are using such technology and examine their overall goal
(Wilson, 2007).
Another study conducted that focused on freshman as well as
seniors found that a great percentage of students spend their
time online though doing a variety of activities. They accounted
for different activities and how time was spend on such
activities from the data obtained. The hours spend on computers
are 11-15 hours, 3-5 hours on course activities and study using
electronic device, 1-2 hours creating as well as sending emails,
1-2 hours just surfing the internet for pleasure, 1-2 hours
listening or downloading music and 1-2 hours playing computer
games (Wilson, 2007). Therefore this only shows that computers
have really declined the values of college students since their
time is most spend doing what is more appealing to them like
4. computer games and sending emails thus impacting on academic
success.
Gemmill and Peterson also conducted a study in 2006 in which
they asked question which determine the extent to which
technology disrupt or even occupy the time of college students
and if it contributes in any way to their stress levels. Their
findings on the study suggested that 25% of the total students
encounter disruptions as a result of the technology which
eventually leads to higher stress (Gemmill & Peterson, 2006).
Student scan be able to obtain library sources online instead of
spending much of their time doing baseless things. The time
students invest in the use of the advanced technology speaks
volumes since it greatly influences their normal flow of life.
3.0 Methodology
Different methodology has been used determining the
implications of technology to college students both positively
and negatively.
3.1. Use of technology patterns and behaviors as a survey
measure. This involves evaluating the time or hours per day the
students spend when checking their emails, used internet for
school related work, communicated via instant messages or even
talked on a cell phone. Then the total hours spend on the
different activities are evaluated to come up with a conclusion.
3.2 Encouraging procedures and participation of the students.
This is generally to conduct a survey selected students on the
issue of stress, disruptions, academic interaction among other
aspects as a result of technology use. The students are able to
mention the impacts they have experienced due to technology
use and several responses are then evaluated to make a
conclusion.
3.3 Interviews to different students. Different responses are
obtained and then rated to determine the strong and weak
responses. The responses from different students will help
determine the percentages of students who have negative
implication and those that have positive implication.
3.4 Use of questionnaires. They are developed to enable the
5. student answer developed question. Some of the questions in
relation to technology use in colleges may include: does
technology use in colleges result to stress? Does the use of
technology by college students result to academic degradation?

4.0. Project Timeline
The project will generally evaluate on the impacts of technology
to college students both positively and negatively. The project
will take four weeks in general in which the time will be
allocated as follows.
