Hans Rosling is a medical doctor and
statistician. He is co- founder and
chairman of the Gapminder
Foundation, which developed the
Trendalyzer software system.
 Hans taught ‘Global Development’
to Swedish undergraduates, finding
they had preconceived ideas about
statistics of Child Mortality after
failing to predict which of 2
countries had worse child mortality.
He talked through some common
myths about the third world.
Who is he?

databases!!
 Why are we not using the data we have?
• The publicly-funded data is hidden down
in the databases.
• And, we would like flowers to grow out on
the Net.
• And one of the crucial points is to make
them searchable, and then people can use
the different design tool to animate it there.
 What we really need is, of course, a
search function.
• A search function where we can copy the
data up to a searchable format and get it out
in the world.

 It's not the new database we need.
We have databases
• We have wonderful design tools,
and more and more are added up
there.
• It boils down to linking data to
design.
 And even more, policy makers and
the corporate sectors would like to
see how the world is changing.

 There is a lot of information and
data glut in the databases, which
barely see the light of the day.
Transform them into logical
infographics.
Keep the confidential data of the
company. But, make the remaining
visible to the public, and encourage
the employees and the data
scientists to gather meaningful
insights from the data.

 A Manager could possibly if analyze the
data in a whole different way thus
inducing information that no one could
ever think of by making out patterns and
designs.
 Managers need to change their
preconceived notions about the statistics
they are going to play with rather they
should be highly equipped with
information regarding the topic.
