1. Introduction
The purpose of this document is to present a detailed description of the Grade Companion (Grade
Sheet Creator) System. It will explain the purpose and features of the system, the interfaces of the
system, what the system will do, the constraints under which it must operate and how the system will
react to external stimuli.
This software system will be a Web based System for teachers of National Institute of Technology
Silchar. This system will be designed to maximize the teacher’s productivity by providing tools to
assist in automating grade sheet creation and publishing process, which would otherwise have to be
performed manually.
2. Positioning
2.1 Problem Statement
The problem of Infectivity of creating grade sheet through excel or word document
for all the students.
affects More time consuming for listing all the students according to their
corresponding branch, semester, course and then calculating grades.
the impact of which is More time consuming and high rate of making an errors
a successful solution would be Creating a software to upload exam marks instantly and calculate the
grades for students within minutes automatically. More time saving
and retrieve grades for past year within seconds as per the needs.
2.2 Product Position Statement
For Faculties and Students in a university
Who Inserting marks and view the grade sheets

That Within minutes a faculty can create a grade sheet for whole branch.
In students point of view they can see their current and past year grades
whenever they need.
Unlike Manually create a grade sheet and save in the desktop.
Our product Reduce the work load and allow to save more time.
2.3 User Environment
 It will be used by nearly 2500 students for the enrollment and by around 100 faculties for the proper usage of this
application. It will not change in a rapid manner but although it changes slightly.
 Task cycle differs to students and faculties where students will spend few minutes and faculties spend time in hours.
 No unique environmental constraints like mobile, outdoors, in-flight, and so on except computers.
 Platforms independent.
 No other applications are needed to integrate.
