Cub Scout Roundup is being held by Pack 249 at Lincoln Community United Methodist Church to recruit new Scouts. The Pack will promote the event through flyers at local schools, presentations, and social media. At the Roundup, current Scouts will do outdoor activities while parents attend an indoor information session. The event will provide recruitment materials and information about joining Cub Scouts.

Forms for an event are due as soon as possible, ideally today. There is an intermediate girls basketball practice at 11:20 am in the gym. The school's Terry Fox Run is taking place on October 11th with a goal of raising $1000 in pledges. There is also an intermediate boys volleyball practice this Friday at 7:30 am that all players are hoped to attend. Volunteers meet daily at 11:00 am in the art room. The deadline for submissions to the OSSTF/FEESO Student Achievement Awards on this year's theme of "One Strong Woman" is November 15th.

Paul Blackketter led the effort over seven years to turn an isolated mining lake into Nathan Benderson Park, the only internationally qualified rowing facility in North America. Through public meetings and presentations to officials and civic groups, Paul built community support and helped make the rowing project a reality despite economic challenges. Paul also traveled internationally and used his military background to promote Sarasota as the home of international rowing. Virginia Haley credits Paul's leadership for Sarasota hosting the World Rowing Championships in 2017.
