InsPro was developed and demonstrated for a region in Delhi, India that is susceptible to earthquake risk.
Netsuke are small ivory or wooden sculptures that originated in 15th century Japan. They were carved with two holes to attach containers like medicine boxes or tobacco pouches to belts using cord. The netsukes helped secure these containers, which lacked pockets, and also served as ornamentation. They were typically under 6 cm and served to attach containers to belts since Japanese clothing lacked pockets.
Although animals do not use language, they are capable of many of the same kinds of cognition as us; much of our experience is at a non-verbal level.
Semantics is the bridge between surface forms used in language and what we do and experience.
Language understanding depends on world knowledge (i.e. “the pig is in the pen” vs. “the ink is in the pen”)
We might not be ready for executives to specify policies themselves, but we can make the process from specification to behavior more automated, linked to precise vocabulary, and more traceable.
Advances such as SVBR and an English serialization for ISO Common Logic means that executives and line workers can understand why the system does certain things, or verify that policies and regulations are implemented
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a blockage in the lungs caused by blood clots that travel from deep veins, usually in the legs. It is the third most common cause of death in hospitalized patients, with over 650,000 cases occurring per year in the US. Risk factors include immobilization, hypercoagulability, and recent surgery or trauma. Symptoms can include chest pain, shortness of breath, cough, or fainting. Diagnosis is confirmed through imaging tests like CT angiography or ventilation-perfusion scans. Treatment involves blood thinners like heparin, warfarin, or newer oral anticoagulants to prevent further clotting. Thrombolytic drugs
This document discusses metamorphism, which is the transformation of one rock type into another through heat, pressure, and chemical changes. Metamorphic rocks are formed from pre-existing igneous, sedimentary, or other metamorphic rocks. Metamorphism can occur at various depths in the crust and upper mantle. It leads to changes in mineral content, texture, and chemical composition of the original rock. The degree of metamorphism ranges from low-grade to high-grade. Heat sources within the Earth include primordial heat, radioactive decay, and solar radiation. Pressure agents are confining pressure and differential stress. There are different types of metamorphic environments and textures that form.
Bungee jumping is an activity where someone jumps from a high structure, like a bridge or building, while attached to an elastic rope. It requires safety measures and multiple people, including one person jumping, one above, and one below, to ensure a safe jump without risks. While some tourists and locals in Baños, Ecuador practice bungee jumping, the author does not want to try it because they believe it is too dangerous and could damage the body or cause injuries like eye damage.
The Nearctic region includes North America north of Mexico, as well as Greenland and the Aleutian Islands. It has a climate and vegetation most similar to the Palearctic region. Mammals in the Nearctic include both families shared with the Palearctic and endemic families like pocket gophers, pocket mice, sewellel, and pronghorns. Reptiles include snakes like garter snakes and rattlesnakes as well as lizards. The region also contains a diverse array of birds, fish, amphibians. While sharing similarities with the Palearctic, the Nearctic has a more distinct fauna with more endemic families and is a transition zone between temperate and tropical regions.
Heat stroke occurs when the body is unable to regulate its temperature, leading to high core temperatures that can cause direct tissue damage and acute renal failure. There are two main types - classic heat stroke which occurs after prolonged heat exposure in vulnerable individuals like the elderly or chronically ill, and exertional heat stroke which occurs rapidly in unacclimated people exercising in hot environments. Symptoms include a core temperature over 40°C and changes in mental status. Treatment involves rapid cooling through ice application and cold water gastric lavage to reduce the core temperature to 39°C within 30 minutes, followed by monitoring for complications like rhabdomyolysis or organ damage.
Neologisms are newly coined words or existing words that take on new meanings. They arise to fill lexical gaps and can be unstable, diffused, or stable over time. Neologisms are created through various processes like blending, borrowing, semantic drift, compounding, and adding affixes. When translating neologisms, factors like context, purpose, readership, and whether an equivalent exists in the target language must be considered. Translations can involve transferring, using naturalization, descriptive terms, or literal translation depending on the neologism type. Authority and likelihood of internationalization also impact the translation approach.

Images as attribute values in the Odoo 17Celine George
Product variants may vary in color, size, style, or other features. Adding pictures for each variant helps customers see what they're buying. This gives a better idea of the product, making it simpler for customers to take decision. Including images for product variants on a website improves the shopping experience, makes products more visible, and can boost sales.
Decolonizing Universal Design for LearningFrederic Fovet
UDL has gained in popularity over the last decade both in the K-12 and the post-secondary sectors. The usefulness of UDL to create inclusive learning experiences for the full array of diverse learners has been well documented in the literature, and there is now increasing scholarship examining the process of integrating UDL strategically across organisations. One concern, however, remains under-reported and under-researched. Much of the scholarship on UDL ironically remains while and Eurocentric. Even if UDL, as a discourse, considers the decolonization of the curriculum, it is abundantly clear that the research and advocacy related to UDL originates almost exclusively from the Global North and from a Euro-Caucasian authorship. It is argued that it is high time for the way UDL has been monopolized by Global North scholars and practitioners to be challenged. Voices discussing and framing UDL, from the Global South and Indigenous communities, must be amplified and showcased in order to rectify this glaring imbalance and contradiction.
This session represents an opportunity for the author to reflect on a volume he has just finished editing entitled Decolonizing UDL and to highlight and share insights into the key innovations, promising practices, and calls for change, originating from the Global South and Indigenous Communities, that have woven the canvas of this book. The session seeks to create a space for critical dialogue, for the challenging of existing power dynamics within the UDL scholarship, and for the emergence of transformative voices from underrepresented communities. The workshop will use the UDL principles scrupulously to engage participants in diverse ways (challenging single story approaches to the narrative that surrounds UDL implementation) , as well as offer multiple means of action and expression for them to gain ownership over the key themes and concerns of the session (by encouraging a broad range of interventions, contributions, and stances).

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized the creation of images and videos, enabling the generation of highly realistic and imaginative visual content. Utilizing advanced techniques like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and neural style transfer, AI can transform simple sketches into detailed artwork or blend various styles into unique visual masterpieces. GANs, in particular, function by pitting two neural networks against each other, resulting in the production of remarkably lifelike images. AI's ability to analyze and learn from vast datasets allows it to create visuals that not only mimic human creativity but also push the boundaries of artistic expression, making it a powerful tool in digital media and entertainment industries.
