This document describes Snyder's synthetic unit hydrograph method. Snyder's method allows computation of key hydrograph characteristics using watershed properties. These include: 1. Lag time, which is related to watershed time of concentration based on length and slope. 2. Hydrograph duration, which is typically 1/5.5 of the lag time. 3. Peak discharge, which is related to watershed area, storage coefficient, and time parameters. 4. Other hydrograph properties like width can also be estimated using the peak discharge and empirical coefficients. The synthetic hydrograph provides an estimate of watershed runoff for both gauged and ungauged locations.
