Desktop-as-a-Service: Flexible Application Delivery to Cloud-Native DesktopsAmazon Web Services
Government’s adoption of cloud-native applications is changing how agencies deliver applications and services to users. Modern ‘born in the cloud’ applications can scale up or down on-demand, and are built to support multiple organizations from a single cloud, while providing total isolation of different users, desktops and data, as security requirements warrant. But users require the flexibility to access applications from the cloud, regardless of whether it's a cloud-native one. Cloud-native desktops are making this both possible and practical, in terms of performance, security, portability, and more. During this session, we will discuss how cloud-native technology is being used in government to deliver a seamless desktop-as-a-service experience for both IT personnel and for users. Building intelligent APIs - Andy Thurai, IBMPAPIs.io
The birth of a sophisticated Internet of Things has catapulted hybrid data collection, which mixes structured and unstructured data, to new heights. The goal with any analytics software is to find and improve better data sets rather than spending time in identifying, prepping, cleaning, and preparing the data. Not only is predicting and prescribing an action anticipating a future issue desired, but if the action is ignored then a forward thinking automatic adoption should suggest an advanced course correction based on previous action items not acted upon. Predictive analytics algorithms should recalibrate themselves. As the incoming data evolves, so do the algorithms – they must re-fit, re-predict and re-prescribe.
Andy Thurai, Program Director at IBM (API, IoT and Connected Cloud), discusses how the time has come for machines and humans to work together to make each other smarter. The combination of APIs, IoTs, big data, smarter analytics, and cognitive computing is transforming the way we see the future — and more importantly, what we do about it.
The mainframe IMS assets can be integrated in the API economy, in the hybrid Cloud, in virtual data lake repositories. Just imagine any business use case and ask for guidance

Why z/OS is a great platform for developing and hosting APIsTeodoro Cipresso
z/OS is a great platform for developing and hosting APIs for three main reasons:
1) Mainframe applications are integral to many businesses and their transactions and data can be exposed as RESTful APIs.
2) Modern z/OS is designed with hybrid cloud and mobile development in mind, allowing transactions to be driven from mobile/cloud apps without knowing the backend is a mainframe.
3) RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications make it easy to understand and consume APIs without access to source code, enabling easier discovery, composition and monetization of APIs.

Now you can quickly and easily improve IMS application performance, IMS resource utilization and deliver higher system availability with the end-to-end analysis of IMS transactions. Comprehensive performance reporting and easier interactive analysis determine what happened, what needs fixing and how to fix it – all part of the intelligence and automation of the IMS Tools Performance Solution Pack.
Ims12 workbench data visualization - IMS UG May 2014 Sydney & MelbourneRobert Hain
Analyzing problems with transactions on z/OS can feel like measuring a strand of cotton when your starting point is a shirt: you need to dissect individual aspects of the transaction without losing the overall picture of how they fit together. That means knowing where and how to get logs for various subsystems, relating these logs together, and finally interpreting the combined output.
IBM Transaction Analysis Workbench for z/OS is a tool that provides a coherent picture of a transaction across subsystems - including IMS, DB2, CICS, WebSphere MQ, and z/OS itself - helping you to pinpoint the source of problems. We demonstrate a step-by-step proof-of-concept model for visually interacting with composite log data to help identify and resolve problems involving multiple subsystems.

Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.
