In this lecture, we start by reviewing 'C' in ICT and reflect on the dilemma: what is the most important quality of data: truth or trust? We review the wide spectrum of business semantics. We visit the different phases of data pain as a company grows, and we map their situation on this spectrum of semantics.
Next, we introduce the principles and framework for business semantics management to support data governance and stewardship focusing on the structural (what), processual (how) and organizational (who) components. We illustrate with stories from the field.

In this lecture, we set out the basic principles to successful develop Data Governance. By way of example, we show how to translate this in Collibra's Data Governance Center. We pay particular attention to identifying and modelling data policies and rules, and to empowering them on the basis of data stewardship and configurable workflows across silos and functions in the organization. Data quality and regulations are perpetual drivers for Data Governance solutions that systematically monitor the execution of data policy. And yet, there is along road ahead to achieve Data Governance: the term is still relatively unknown, there is no political forum in the form of a Data Governance Council, and software support is moderate. Time for change ! Data Governance requires automation on the one hand and a wide adoption of business to ICT on the other.
In this lecture, we set out the basic principles to successful develop Data Governance. By way of example, we show how to translate this in Collibra's Data Governance Center. We pay particular attention to identifying and modelling data policies and rules, and to empowering them on the basis of data stewardship and configurable workflows across silos and functions in the organization. The example is drawn from the Flanders Research Information Space, where data quality is critical to drive and boost pan-European Research policy.

Preparing for an inter-institutional Benchmarking activity using the ACODE Be...Charles Darwin University
Over the last few years the Australasian Council of Online, Distance and eLearning (ACODE) have facilitated two major Benchmarking Summits in Sydney and Canberra, using the ACODE Benchmarks for TEL. These have been unprecedented events within the Australasian higher education, with 35 higher education institutions from five countries involved. To participate each institution first had to undertake a self-assessment of their capacity in TEL against the Performance Indicators in the tool, and then be willing to share this with the other institutions involved. Each institution assessed, at a minimum, two of the benchmarks, with many institutions doing far more. However, for an institution to maximize its experience with this activity they need to be starting their engagement well prior to the formal benchmarking activity. This workshop will help those new to the ACODE benchmarks understand what is required when using this tool. It will provide the wherewithal to ensure your participation is undertaken in a rigorous way. More importantly, it will provide a practical way to facilitate an internal activity, potentially with a view to then be involved in an inter-institutional activity. We will work through a number of different scenarios to help you understand the many facets needing to be considered in undertaking such an activity, and you leave with a strong plan of action for your institution to enhance its capacity in TEL.

Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.
