sembly Speaker Vasudev

Prem Chand Bairwa
graced the occasion with
their presence. CM Shar-
ma highlighted yoga as
an invaluable gift from
ancient Indian sages to
humanity, emphasizing
its crucial role in promot-
ing a healthy lifestyle and
establishing an ideal so-
ciety. He lauded PM Na-
rendra Modi for his inspi-
rational and effective ef-
forts in bringing yoga to
the global stage, stating
that Modi’s initiatives
have spread Indian cul-
ture to the farthest cor-
ners of the world through
yoga. “Yoga is not just a
physical exercise but a
way of life that ensures
physical, mental, and
spiritual well-being,”
said the Chief Minister.
He called on every citi-
zen to incorporate yoga
into their daily routine to
stay healthy and happy.
The participants prac-
ticed for about 45 min-
utes, performing asanas
such as Tadasana, Ardha
Chakrasana, Dandasana,
Vajrasana, Uttanmandu-
kasana, Makarasana,
Bhujangasana, Shalab-
hasana, and Pavanamuk-
tasana, as well as the
pranayama techniques.

toral Rolls for Haryana,

and Jammu and Kashmir
with July 1, 2024 as the
qualifying date. The de-
velopment has come as
Assembly elections are
due to be held in these
three states and Union
Territory JK. While
elections in Haryana,
Jharkhand and Maha-
rashtra are confirmed to
take place later this year,
polls in Jammu and Kash-
mir may also be aligned
with these three states.
The draft rolls would
be published on July 25,
after which electors have
the chance to file claims
and objections tillAugust
9. The publication of the
final electoral roll will be
done byAugust 20, as per
the schedule.

Agency (NTA) on Friday
announced the postpone-
ment of the Joint CSIR
UGC-NET June 2024
examination due to logis-
tic issues and unavoida-
ble circumstances. The
exam was earlier sched-
uled to take place be-
tween June 25 June 27.
The testing agency
also said that a revised
schedule for the conduct
of this examination will
be announced later
through the official web-
site. The Joint CSIR
UGC-NET is conducted
to determine the eligibil-
ity of Indian nationals for
JRF, Assistant Professor
positions, and PhD in ac-
cordance with eligibility
criteria laid by UGC.

event, which was sched-
uled to start at 6.30 am at
Sher-i-Kashmir Interna-
tional Conference Centre
(SKICC) on the banks of
the Dal Lake, was dis-
rupted due to heavy rain
in the city. The arrange-
ments were later shifted
indoors. Later, the Prime
Minister also shared his
pictures from the Dal
Lake, afte rain stopped.
On the occasion, PM
also addressed a gather-
ing and said the day is
creating new records in
the world. Extending his
greetings to the people of
country, PM Modi said,
“I extend greetings to
people of the country and
people performing yoga
in every corner of world
on Yoga Day. The num-
ber of people practising
yoga is growing world-
wide. In 10 years, expan-
sion of yoga has changed
perception. Today, world
is seeing new yoga econ-

LAND DISPUTE LEADS TO DOUBLE MURDER IN KOTA
Kota: Panic swept through the Sangod police station
area of Kota district after a double murder was dis-
covered. The Sangod police swiftly responded to the
scene, taking custody of the bodies and transferring them to
the hospital mortuary. Following post-mortem examinations,
the bodies were handed over to the relatives. Kota Rural SP
Karan Sharma identified the deceased as Ashok and Ravi,
an uncle and nephew duo. Preliminary investigations sug-
gest the murders were driven by a land dispute.

drain in Jodhpur. Six

The Bikaner police
have arrested two sus-
pects in connection with
the murder, including a
woman. The victim,
identified as Muskan,

dents, 583 Engineering
students, and 5,544 Sci-
ence students. The cere-

awarding of 168 PhDs
and 73 gold medals to

Chancellor’s medal, and

Chhoti Sadri tehsil of
Pratapgarh district to the
railway dept for the Badi
Sadri - Neemuch Broad
Gauge Railway Project.
This land allocation pro-
posal will be presented
for approval at the up-
coming cabinet meeting.
Notably, this 48.35-kilo-
meter railway project, ap-
proved in the 2017-18
railway budget, is expect-
ed to be completed by
June 2026 at a cost of Rs
495.18 crore.
This decision by the
CMwill benefit the resi-
dents of Pratapgarh by
providing them with rail-
way transport facilities.
The Neemuch route has a
significant number of in-
dustrial units, and this
new rail line will facilitate
freight transport to
Udaipur and other loca-
tions. The project will in-
clude the construction of
five stations between
Badi Sadri and Neemuch,
namely Chainpuriya, Jalo-
da Jagir, Barwada Gujar,
Chhoti Sadri, and Naraya-
ni Railway Station. Cur-
rently, only two trains op-
erate on the old route, but
the expansion will con-
nect it to Neemuch in MP,
creating a new alternative
rail route from Udaipur to
Ratlam and increasing
train frequency.

ONIONS BRING TEARS AS PRICES SKYROCKET

over the past week. Ini-
tially selling at 20 to 25
rupees per kilogram, on-
ions are now priced at 50
to60rupeesperkilogram.
The main reason for
this surge is the reduced
supply from Jodhpur’s
MathaniaandBhopalgarh
areas. Extreme heat has
damaged the onion crops.
Previously, around 50
truckloads would arrive
dailyattheMuhanaMan-
di, but now this number
has dropped to 20-25
truckloads. Additionally,
the supply from Bagru
Sikar has also weakened.

prominent onion trader at
Muhana Mandi, men-
tioned that prices are in-
deedrising.Currently,the
supply from Nashik is
slow, and it will take an-
other two months for the
new crop from Khairthal

BAN LIFTED DURING LOK SABHA ELECTIONS ON MAY 4
In early May 2024, India lifted its ban on onion
exports, resulting in the export of over 45,000
tons of onions. Last December, the world’s larg-
est vegetable exporter had imposed the ban, which was
extended in March due to sluggish production and rising
prices. According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, over
45,000 tons of onions have been exported since the ban
was lifted, primarily to West Asia and Bangladesh.
The government removed the export ban on May 4
to keep onion prices low during the election period.
However, a minimum export price (MEP) of 550
US dollars per ton was imposed.

According to officials,

found in a farm on Thurs-
day, following which the

(ECI) have emerged the
most trusted institutions
of 2024, according to the
Ipsos IndiaBus Most
Trusted Institutions an-
nual survey.
The survey was con-
ducted pan-India, across
SECs, age groups, cities
with representation
across metros, tier-1, tier-
2 and tier-3 cities and
across different cohorts
and regions using the Ip-
sos IndiaBus platform.
The respondents were
exposed to a list of insti-
tutions and asked to rank
them on trustworthiness.
The survey covered a
long list of institutions
that were randomised
and ranked by citizens.
Elucidatingonthefind-
ings of the survey, Parijat
Chakraborty, Group Ser-
vice Line Leader, Public
Affairs, Corporate Repu-
tation, CSR and Sustain-
ability, Ipsos India, said,
“The top rankers on trust
in our annual survey of
the Ipsos IndiaBus Most
Trusted Institutions
mapped on the perception
of citizens are the defence
forces, the PM of country,
the RBI, the Supreme
Court of India and the
Election Commission of
India (ECI); emerging

Interestingly, trust for
defence forces was high
among certain demo-
graphics and cities: in
tier-1 cities (76%), north
zone (72%), west zone
(64%), 45+ age group
(63%), part-time and full-

of Rajasthan is
eagerly waiting
for the next IAS transfer
list. In reality, this wait
started right after the new
government was formed
in Delhi, but even though
fifteen days have passed,
the whereabouts of the
transfer is list are un-
known. Sources reveal
that homework is con-
tinuously being done on
the list, but nothing is
getting finalised. Sources
further reveal that major
changes are to happen to
ACS, Principal Secre-
tary, and Secretary rank
officer while several
HODs and Collectors
would also be changed.
However, it does not
seem probable that Fi-
nance will undergo any
changes just yet, owing
to the upcoming budget.
It is being said that one
of the reasons why the
list is not getting final-
ised, is the issue of non-
approval on various
names at the concerned
level, even though sev-
eral meetings have hap-
pened on this aspect.
Sources reveal that the
issue is stuck on about
half a dozen names. Fur-
thermore, various specu-
lations are being made
regarding the CM’s Delhi
visit followed by the
Chief Secretary’s sudden
visit to the National Cap-
ital.
Notably, even after ap-
proval regarding reliev-
ing the state’s Chief Elec-
toral Officer and with the
notification by the Elec-
tion Commission regard-
ing the new CEO, it has
been two days, and yet
the State Government
has not issued orders in
this regard. This issue is
also concerned with the
transfer list.
Right from the Secre-
tariat, to Departments
and Collectors are in a
state of confusion regard-
ing the list and it is also
being said that in the ab-
sence of the list getting
finalised, it can be stalled
for some time.

rupt elements has been
delayed, causing frustra-

Several departments
are reportedly protecting
their own officials impli-
cated in corruption scan-
dals, further complicating

tegrity by sheltering cor-
rupt officials and employ-
ees involved in various
scams. Many of these
cases have been pending
since 2011, hindering the
progress of prosecution

without RSS’s support
and vice versa? Does the
‘Two-Headed Swan’
idiom is realised here?

As of today, that idiom
surely exists in reality and
it will remain so till the
time these two organisa-
tions are separated, may
they keep functioning in
the same fields later on
andmaycrosspathsatdif-
ferent times, but on the
ground, they may then be
separate.Tillthetimethey
do not part ways in a
friendly environment, till
then, the BJPand the RSS
will be like the ‘Two-
Headed Swan.’This say-
ing came into prevalence
after a senior journalist
went to Russia over two
decades back and visited
the Kremlin, where he
saw an insignia of a swan
with two heads. On one of
the heads was written
‘East’ and on the other
head was written ‘West’.
At that time Russia’s pol-
icy was to balance both
East and West. Someone
asked what would happen
if one of the heads of the
proverbial swan fell
down, to which the au-
thorities replied that the
swan would die. So, in
today’s situation between
RSSandBJP,whoarelike
this swan, if they do not
improve themselves and
do not sort out their differ-
ences,sothewaythistime
votes were not cast in
huge numbers in BJP’s
favour, next time, some-
thing major may happen
and the existing structure
of working between BJP
and RSS would crumble
and that will be the start of
the end of that structure.
Mohan Bhagwat made
the statement after which
Indresh Kumar also gave
statements on the same
lines. However, RSS
maintains that it was not
an intentional statement.
If it was not intentional or
if it was not aimed at BJP,
then what is your take on
this entire process?
This is a general way of
handlingsituations.When
we give statements that
have such an effect, then
someone comes up and
says that the statement
has been misquoted or
misconstrued. In this
case, it has not been mis-
quoted, but humbly they
have said that it was not a
remark on the central
government. However,
the entire nation knows
what was said and what it
meant. It does not heed
well if you claim to close
your eyes and one has to
accept the truth. But it is
also good that they had
suchfeelingsintheirheart
which somehow shows a
correctional approach. It
appears that they wanted
todoaback-trackonwhat
they said so, it is a wel-
come move.
It is being said that RSS
is not too happy with JP
Nadda’s role in the entire
incident?
Truth be told, JP Nadda is
such a nice person that no
one can get angry with
him. He would merely
smile and the chapter
would end. Basically, JP
Nadda is more of an RSS
person than a BJP person.
Hewasintheorganisation

Narendra Modi and one
thing is for sure, once
someone comes in touch
with Modi, he or she
wouldbesoinfluencedby
him that they would auto-
matically align them-
selveswithModi.Perhaps
RSS leadership also

ment of the party. So, that
is what it is. Nadda would
meet the RSS leadership
and smile at them and the
topic would end.
Some critics have also
questioned the timing of
Mohan Bhagwat’s
statement. What is your
take on that?
There are two thoughts
going about in the social
media realm. Some peo-
ple stressed that RSS was
waitingfortheBJPtolose
and Narendra Modi to be-
come weak and RSS
would strike. So in that
aspect, one may say that
Modi has weakened a bit
so RSS has struck. But
another aspect of this the-
ory, as claimed by those
associated with RSS, is
that Mohan Bhagwat or
Indresh Kumar do not
need to wait for an oppor-
tune time.Although there
wasdisappointmentinthe
mind, had the statement
been given prior to the
election, it would have
resulted in some loss to
the party and a message
would have gone that the
party lost owing to RSS’
statement. So, they did
not give any statement
then. So, I do not think
that there was any
malafide intent in giving
that statement.
But what happened
that within 24 hours,
Indresh Kumar had to
backtrack his statement?
A person is a servant to
situations or circumstanc-
es. When the statement
was made, he must have
realised that when Mohan
Bhagwat said so, then
what is the relevance of
his statement and was un-
called for? It was not
needed. I believe there
must have been some
pressure on him and his
friends in the BJP must
have asked him why he
was making such state-
ments or getting in the
middle of heavy-weights.
Perhaps someone in the
RSS askedhimtogoslow
as the matter is being han-
dled by senior leaders.
This is my assumption.
Hence, he took back what
he said. And a positive
thingisthathesaidthathe
wants the government to
progress manifold which
is a good thing. He also
said that this is the gov-
ernment of ‘Ram Bhakts’
means he said that this is
not the government of
Congress or any other
party.
Has Sangh’s prestige
and glory suffered a
setback owing to the
backtracking on the
statement?
Yes, to some extent. RSS
is an organisation, which
makes to-the-point state-
ments, and that too ex-
tremelyrarely.Itisalways
a well-drafted and well-
worded statement. Now
Indresh Kumar gave a
statement and had to roll
back. So you are right, it
was an embarrassment to
Indresh Kumar as well as
RSS. But on the other
side, I do not think that
someone would have told
Indresh Kumar to issue a
statement rather it must
have been an automatic
reaction. This means that
RSS workers perhaps
have some sense of frus-
tration or are disheartened
towards the BJP which
they are unable to hide.
And as soon as they found
an opportunity, they ex-
pressed themselves. So, it
is important for the BJPto
look into this matter and
suppose, that both these
organisations decide to
walk on different paths,
but at least till the time
they are together, they
should try to be cordial
andonthesamepagepub-
licly. Indresh Kumar’s
statementreflectsthatper-
haps there is dissatisfac-
tion or resentment among
RSSworkerswhichneeds
to be sorted out as soon as
possible.
JP Nadda’s tenure is
ending on June 30. In
this regard, suspicion is
also being cast, if RSS is
trying to pressurise BJP
that the next BJP
national chief is selected
with RSS’approval?
Mohan Bhagwat and RSS
are too big as a person and
as an institution that they
wouldtrytopressurisethe
BJP leadership to choose
a President of RSS’
choice. It is a policy deci-
sion and when it will have
to happen, it will.The BJP
President is a small factor
in the entire scheme of
thingsorthelikelysepara-
tion or staying together of
RSS and BJP and the em-
powerment between the
two. So the issue sur-
rounding the BJP Chief is
a small issue and as such
theyknowwhoisgoingto
come and all the names
that will be discussed in
the near future will be
somehow connected with
RSSorhaveanRSSback-
ground. The only differ-
ence is that some are
purely RSS-backed indi-
viduals and some fall just
a tad short of that marking
even though they have
some or the other connect
intheSangh.Butwhatcan
one do? Even if an RSS
man is appointed to the
BJP President’s office, he
will have to come in con-
tact with Amit Shah and
Narendra Modi and will
become theirs. As such
now BJP has become
carefulnottoappointany-
one without consultation
and RSS has realised that
now they can do their
homework on prospective
names that are suggested
by BJP leadership. So
there is some sort of cau-
tion for both the organisa-
tion to undergo some
homework in this regard.
So then who could be
the front-runner for the
post of BJP National
President?
All the front runners are
seated behind Narendra
Modi. The first front-run-
ner is Bhupender Yadav,
who is considered a mas-
termind in organisational
mattersandhasbeenmade
aminister.SecondisDhar-
mendra Pradhan, who is
also a minister. Thirdly,
perhaps Modi saw a ray of
hope in Manohar Lal
Khattar, but he too has
been made a minister.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan
too is in the ministry. CR
Patil, a Modi loyalist and
person adept at organisa-
tional work, he too has
become a minister. Now
there is a vacuum for the
postofpartypresidentand
there are a handful of
names that are doing the
round, But what will hap-
pen finally? Among the
names are Vinod Tawre,
Devendra Fadnavis, Sunil
Bansal, Om Mathur,Anu-
rag Thakur, Smriti Irani,
and a few others and
names will be decided
from among these leaders.
But the most interesting
aspect is who are these
people. Will the next chief
be a hundred percent RSS
man or a hundred percent
BJPman?Whatwillbethe
permutation of this? So
let’s see it is an interesting
aspect because this may
also prove to be another
turning point between
RSS and BJP as it will es-
tablish who has had the
most say in the appoint-
ment of the next chief.

well since the Opposition will gain ground and could lead to winning more in the upcoming State

Indresh Kumar were not a deliberate attempt to derail the BJP, how RSS is not unhappy with JP
Nadda in this entire scenario, why Indresh Kumar’s statement was not required, and how the

What is your take on
the relationship between
BJP and RSS going
forward?
Dr Jagdeesh Chandra:
There is no doubt that the
decades-old relations be-
tween BJP and RSS have
reached a critical junc-
ture, but one thing is cer-
tain RSS is not going to
disrupt or disturb the
Narendra Modi govern-
ment because RSS has
already said that Naren-
dra Modi is an ideal
Prime Minister. RSS
Chief Mohan Bhagwat
had said in Ayodhya that
Narendra Modi appears
to be a ‘Sanyasi and Ta-
pasvi.’ But they have a
pain in their heart and
want recognition. RSS
feels for the past some
time, that they have been
sidelined and that they
are not consulted on im-
portant matters. So they
want such consultations
to take place which used
to happen ten years back
and thus, it should be re-
stored. Secondly, RSS
also wants that organisa-
tion related work should
be handed to it while
Modi runs the govern-
ment. On the other hand,
the BJP’s thought on this
issue, as can be inferred
from JP Nadda’s recent
interview, was that in the
past, BJPneeded RSS be-
cause it was a small party
and was not as capable as
RSS. But now BJP has
grown from strength to
strength and thus it can
handle its ground. Apart
from this, RSS is a cul-
tural and social organisa-
tion while BJP is a politi-
cal party. So in these two
points, Nadda put for-
ward the philosophy and
ideas of the BJP leader-
ship clearly. It hints that
RSS should keep itself
occupied in the social
and cultural sphere while
leaving the political and
party-related works to
BJP. So, the basic issue is
serious and it remains to
be seen how in the com-
ing days the two leader-
ships sort the issue.
What do you think were
the reasons that led to a
sense of frustration or
disappointment towards
the BJP leadership in
Mohan Bhagwat’s heart?
Also, why do you think
they chose a public
platform to put forward
their points?
See, the main issue is
recognition and rele-
vance. RSS feels that in
the past ten years, its rec-
ognition and relevance
have decreased and that
the ‘power centre’ has
shifted from Nagpur to
Ahmedabad. Secondly,
how BJP is functioning
and working in Modi’s
leadership, somewhere
RSS does not appear to
be alright or comfortable
with this. I won’t say that
RSS is against BJP but it
certainly does not look as
if they are comfortable
with it. It appears that in
their mind, they feel that
the ‘recognition centre’is
shifting from their side
and that their recognition
and value have gone
down in the past ten years
since consultation with
RSS has gone down. The
second main issue bor-
ders around the recently
conducted Lok Sabha
election where it appears
that RSS feels it has not
been consulted with and
it is said that RSS had
given a few names as
candidates in the Awadh
belt of Uttar Pradesh but
these names were not ac-
cepted. So after this
RSS’s mood changed and
it is now believed that
one of the reasons for
BJP being restricted to
such a low number is due
to the reason that RSS
workers did not take to
the field. Its result was
that the BJP faced a loss.
But this also poses a
question as to has your
disappointment become
so big that you caused a
loss to your party. Have
BJP-RSS relations
reached such a critical
point that the RSS work-
ers did not work as they
would have, which is be-
ing perceived? RSS
workers not working ac-
tively in elections is a
serious point on which
the leadership should de-
liberate and think. When
the issue of cabinet was
being formed, I have
heard that consultation
with RSS was not held
there too and I have also
heard that Arun Kumar
told BJP that if the party
does not pay heed to
RSS’ views, why then
does it seek its opinion?
The result of this was that
no senior RSS leader was
present in the oath cere-
mony. It is a thing of
wonder that you are com-
ing to power, BJPis com-
ing to power for the third
time, PM is returning to
power for the third time,
and yet RSS is missing
from the action. This
gives one the idea that
RSS is disappointed, sad
or angry. I spoke to a sen-
ior leader on this issue
and asked him what was
happening, and he said
all is well. But nothing is
alright rather this issue
has to be sorted. There
are elections in the future
and it can not be that RSS
does not play an active
role. Fights can be ad-
dressed at appropriate
times but at least win
elections first. Further-
more, on the issue of
Ram Mandir, I heard that
there were some differ-
ences on that issue as
well. RSS thought that it
should not have been po-
liticised and attempts to
take political capital
from it should not have
been made. But here BJP
differs from its opinion
and everyone differs on
this issue. See, Modi,
Shah, or Nadda are not
saints or sages, rather
they will look to create
public opinion from such
issues. How else will
they do it? Not just BJP,
rather no other political
party will leave such a
chance. If you do not take
political capital out of
such major develop-
ments, what will you do
in politics then? Then
there was another issue
that Nripendra Mishra
was made in charge of
the project which did not
go down well with RSS
as it maintained that
someone from RSS
should have been given
that chance. Then anoth-
er issue was regarding
accounts that were being
looked after by Champat
Rai, and something hap-
pened with it that after
this BJPstopped consult-
ing with RSS on the Ram
Mandir project, so it is
said. I also heard that
RSS thought that leader-
centric politics should
not happen. To this, BJP
questioned that if leader-
centric politics is not en-
gaged in then who will
lead the party? You need
the face of the political
party and everywhere in
the world this happens.
Narendra Modi is the
face of the nation which
the BJP has and that face
gets votes. If you say
politics should not be
leader-centric then it can
not happen. Basically
what BJP feels now is
that RSS’s suggestions
are theoretical and ideo-
logical, which do not fit
the political realm. See,
this issue has to be dealt
with at a logical level and
both Mohan Bhagwat and
JP Nadda would want
that. If they can look eye
to eye then it’s alright, if
not, then they would be
free to raise their organi-
sation and when the issue
of resources comes forth,
they will then look into it.
The issue should be de-
cided but it should not
come to pass that RSS
workers do not go to cast
their votes or motivate
people to vote.
You talked about this
situation, but how far do
you think this clash of
ideas will continue? Do
you think it could come to
that level that things go
way beyond the difference
of opinion situation it
presently is at?
There are two things in
this. Differences of opin-
ion may be there, but if
you are going to imply
about show of strength,
then be assured, that a
show of strength can not
happen in Narendra
Modi’s life as you can not
defeat him or Amit Shah
in any show of strength.
Secondly, this situation of
a show of strength will
not arise because it is non-
existent in RSS’s DNA
and the DNA of RSS and
BJP is vice versa. But
even if such a situation
occurs, you tell mow out
of the 240 individuals,
how many people are
there who will leave
Modi-Shah and head to
the organisation? How
many Chief Ministers are
there who will leave for
organisation? I don’t
think there is any. Such a
situation will not happen,
and even if it comes to
pass, then it is impossible
to defeat Narendra Modi
in a show of strength.
Amidst the controversy
regarding BJP-RSS
relations, a book written
by PM Modi - Jyotipunj
- is being discussed
a lot. What is there in
that book?
That book defines the re-
lations between Narendra
Modi and Mohan Bhag-
wat and Bhagwat’s rela-
tions with his family. In
that book, Modi comes
across as a writer, a phi-
losopher, and an intellec-
tual. He has written in the
book that when he was 20
years old he observed that
in Mohan Bhagwat’s fa-
ther - Madhukar Rao
Bhagwat - he used to find
a mix of Gujarati and
Marathi style of clothing.
Modi said that after meet-
ing him he used to feel
that the senior Bhagwat
has become a part of him
like how milk and sugar
mixwitheachother.Modi
further said that in those
times there was no one
who used to even take
RSS’ name and in such a
time,MadhukarRaospent
his life for RSS and estab-
lishedRSSinthestate.He
entered from Surat held
a first ‘shivir’ there. From
there he moved to Karna-
vati, Baroda, and other
places. If you look at it,
Mohan Bhagwat Nar-
endra Modi are ‘Guru
Bhai’ because Madhukar
RaoBhagwatusedtocon-
sider Modi as his ‘Mana
Putra’and was impressed
by Modi. They even
shared time in a ‘shivir’ in
Nagpur. So look at the re-
lationship between the
twofamilies.Thatbook
that bond is at one end
the politics is at another.
