This document discusses better collaboration between agencies and clients. It notes that historically, agencies did not provide clients with a full understanding of the creative process or ideas, and clients did not know how to properly evaluate work. It advocates that agencies start presentations with the agreed upon creative brief to provide necessary context before presenting ideas. Agencies should tell a story that bridges the brief to the final idea, giving clients a complete understanding. The document also provides models for properly evaluating ideas and ensuring collaborative discussions between agencies and clients.

Pitching Ideas: How to sell your ideas to othersJeroen van Geel
Learn how to convince others of your UX ideas by understanding them.
We are good in designing usable and engaging products and services. We understand the user's needs and have a toolkit with dozens of deliverables. But for some reason it remains difficult to sell an idea or concept to team members, managers or clients. After this session that problem will be solved!
Selling your ideas and convincing others is one of the most undervalued assets in our field. This ranges from convincing a colleague to use a certain design pattern to selling research to your boss and convincing a client to go for your concept. You can come up with the best ideas in the world, but if it is presented in the wrong way these ideas will die a lonely dead. This is sad, because everybody can learn how to bring a message across. The main thing is that you know what to pay attention to.
In this session I will take you on a journey through the world of presenting ideas. We will move through the heads of clients and your colleagues, learn what their thoughts and needs are. We will move to the core of your idea and into the world of psychology.

The Moon is Earth's natural satellite and the fifth largest in the Solar System. It has one quarter the diameter of Earth and 1/81 its mass. The Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth and always shows the same face. Comets originate from the Oort Cloud or Kuiper Belt and travel great distances, spending most of their time far beyond Pluto before making brief close passes by the Sun.
Artificial intelligence is the study and design of intelligent agents, with no single goal. It aims to put the human mind into computers by developing machines that can achieve goals through computation. The origins of AI began in the 1940s with the development of electronic computers. Significant early developments included the first stored program computer in the 1950s, the Dartmouth Conference which coined the term "artificial intelligence" in the 1950s, and the development of the LISP programming language. In the following decades, AI research expanded and led to applications in fields like expert systems, games, and military systems. While progress has been made, the full extent of intelligence and the future of AI remains unknown.
The document discusses the history and development of artificial intelligence over the past 70 years. It outlines some of the key milestones in AI research from the early work in the 1950s to modern advances in deep learning. While progress has been significant, fully general artificial intelligence that can match or exceed human levels of intelligence remains an ongoing challenge that researchers continue working to achieve.
The document provides examples of standard, boring presentation templates and encourages the creation of unique, visually appealing templates instead. It emphasizes using fewer words and more images per slide, varying fonts and colors, and breaking content into multiple slides to keep audiences engaged. Inspiration sources like design blogs and galleries of infographics and slide designs are recommended for making impactful presentations that attract and impress audiences.

The document discusses 10 paradoxes of interactive media based on a presentation by Professor Eric Bradlow. Each paradox is summarized in 3 sentences or less:
1. While data is abundant, simple theories often outperform complex data models.
2. Customer engagement metrics should be used carefully as many customers just want efficient transactions.
3. One-to-one marketing is difficult at scale as customers are unpredictable.
4. Differences between groups are often meaningless as all the variation is within groups.
5. Viral marketing works locally but has small global impact, better for concentrated markets.
6. Mass marketing is still effective with many channels, just harder to implement successfully.

- "Good ideas are not adopted automatically. They must be driven into practice with courageous patience."
- "Adapt the technique to your idea, not your idea to the technique"

- "It’s quite fun to do the impossible"
What are people, who nobody is listening to, saying?Albert Stęclik
This document summarizes thoughts from marketing videos on YouTube with less than 1,000 views. It discusses ideas from speakers like Dave Trott, Martin Weigel, Rob Campbell, and John Hegarty. Some of the key ideas presented include the importance of visibility and reach over persuasion for ads, challenging assumptions about brands and customer relationships, and that truly original ideas come from self-expression rather than brainstorming. The document contrasts these "timeless thoughts" with more commonly discussed topics in larger marketing lectures.

Future of advertising - Some thoughts from the present to predict the future ...Agustín Soriano
I was asked to make this presentation for a conference and, despite the topic being really tricky, I've tried to place some bets about the future for agencies and brands. Don't take this really seriously because the future can't be guessed and there is only one prediction that is 100% sure...
The document discusses predictions for the future of advertising from various experts and sources. It notes that while new technologies and platforms will continue emerging, the core importance of creativity will remain. Predictions include brands focusing on entertainment over product promotion; evolving storytelling into immersive experiences; finding authentic purposes beyond promotional messages; embracing trial-and-error through rapid testing; and leveraging cultural insights instead of becoming disconnected from culture. The conclusion emphasizes that overcoming indifference through remarkable creative work is what allows brands to write their own futures rather than just predict them.
Willem Sodderland, CEO/founder of Buzzer, Europe\'s first Word of Mouth Marketing agency at the Word of Mouth Marketing Conference in Warsaw on May 8, 2008
The document provides an overview of public relations (PR) strategies and techniques for promoting organizations and brands. It discusses generating positive media coverage through proactive pitches and reactive responses, as well as the importance of timing, photography, spokesperson training, and internal communications. Examples are given of low-cost and high-impact PR campaigns for animal welfare organizations.

We recently hosted an event on the FUTURE OF CONTENT. We distilled some trends, called out some BS we see all the time, and gave away some thoughts on how brands can continue to stay relevant on the continually reinventing digital landscape.
Everyone sells, even you. Learn a simple, easy way to sell by thinking like a buyer, not a seller. Every sales cycle has four phases, but learn why the second one – educating your buyer – can make or break the deal. I’ll teach you the 5 step CM!(tm) process, set you up with a toolbox full of ideas, and get you started on how to become a convincing expert.

The document discusses four important trends in modern marketing: 1) Plummeting trust in consumer advertising, 2) The rise of user-generated content, 3) People paying more attention to organic content over advertising, and 4) The importance of word-of-mouth marketing or "buzz marketing". It defines buzz marketing as capturing attention through fascinating and newsworthy campaigns. The keys to buzz marketing are having a great product, focusing on unusual or outrageous tactics, and creating engaging content instead of traditional advertising. Details and consumer insights are also important to the success of buzz marketing campaigns.
This document discusses the importance of achieving product-market fit before focusing on growth. It defines product-market fit as when customers who want your product are happy with what you're offering. Examples of what product-market fit looks like for consumer and SaaS products are provided. The document then discusses strategies for achieving product-market fit more easily, such as cloning existing successful products or innovating on a small part of an existing product. Common mistakes like having too minimal of an MVP or betting on new human behaviors are also outlined. Finally, scaling strategies like paid ads, viral loops, and SEO once product-market fit is achieved are briefly mentioned.
This document discusses why achieving true viral growth is difficult for SaaS products. It provides examples showing that even with high user engagement rates, the viral factor (new users signed up per existing user) is typically around 0.01 or less, far below the levels needed for exponential growth. It emphasizes that going viral requires a product that people use frequently in a way that naturally encourages sharing, not just one-time actions like invites or tweets. Product-market fit, daily usage, and high retention are more important factors for growth.
The document discusses metrics-driven design and highlights several key points:
1) It describes how Google tested 41 shades of blue to determine the optimal color and how testing small variations can have large impacts.
2) It contrasts intuition-driven and data-driven design, noting that while data-driven design removes subjectivity, it can also prevent daring decisions.
3) It emphasizes that metrics should measure the effectiveness of a business by tracking things like acquisition, conversion, engagement, and satisfaction over time.
This document discusses building a Minimum Desirable Product (MDP) rather than a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). It recommends focusing on understanding user goals and creating a product that maximizes engagement and sustainable growth through a few key scenarios. An MDP can be built quickly in 4-6 weeks to test if people will use it daily and recommend it to others. The document cautions that desirability alone may not lead to viability, so MDP ideas still need to consider business feasibility. The goal of an MDP approach is to deliver compelling consumer value through the optimal minimal set of features.
Growing Renewable Audiences (presented at OATV)Andrew Chen
The document discusses growing renewable audiences through various marketing strategies such as viral marketing, search engine optimization, conferences, and community building. It provides tips for identifying goals, measuring success, and optimizing efforts through tools like Google Analytics. The process also involves repeating cycles of optimization to continually attract new users in a renewable fashion similar to renewable ad arbitrage.
This document discusses ad targeting and how it relates to revenue. It introduces the speaker, Andrew, and his experience in advertising. The main points are that targeting can increase revenue, there is a question of whether targeting actually works, and that social networks may not be as effective for targeting. The document suggests that different types of content and audience targeting like geography, industry, demographics, time of day, and behavior can impact revenue.
Jeremy Liew - Stanford Facebook Class PresentationAndrew Chen
This document discusses business models and revenue models for internet companies and apps. It notes that starting an internet or app company is now relatively inexpensive, with total annual fixed costs around $150,000. It also explains that achieving revenue breakeven is not too difficult if companies can deliver a targeted audience for advertising. The document then analyzes different revenue per thousand pageviews (RPM) levels from various companies and the pageview or install targets needed to hit different revenue goals. It concludes that companies need to either get very large in terms of audience/installs or focus on higher CPM advertising to be successful under different monetization models.
