The document provides information about various banking exams in India, including IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, IBPS SO, IBPS RRB, and SBI exams.
The IBPS PO exam is conducted annually to recruit probationary officers. It involves preliminary and main exams, followed by an interview. The IBPS Clerk exam recruits clerks and involves preliminary and main stages. The IBPS SO exam recruits specialist officers for different roles through preliminary and main exams plus an interview. The IBPS RRB exam recruits officers for regional rural banks through exams tailored for different officer scales. Finally, the SBI exams recruit probationary officers and clerks through preliminary and main exams, as well as group exercises and interviews.
The document discusses algorithms for solving single-source shortest path problems on directed graphs. It begins by defining the problem and describing Bellman-Ford's algorithm, which can handle graphs with negative edge weights but runs in O(VE) time. It then describes how Dijkstra's algorithm improves this to O(ElogV) time using a priority queue, but requires non-negative edge weights. It also discusses how shortest paths can be found in O(V+E) time on directed acyclic graphs by relaxing edges topologically. Finally, it discusses how difference constraints can be modeled as shortest path problems on a corresponding constraint graph.
The document provides information about graphs and graph algorithms. It defines graphs as mathematical structures representing pairwise relationships between objects using nodes and edges. It describes different types of graphs like undirected, directed, weighted, cyclic graphs and trees. It explains two common ways to represent graphs - adjacency matrix and adjacency list. It then describes three important graph traversal algorithms - Breadth First Search (BFS), Depth First Search (DFS), and topological sorting. BFS traverses the graph layer by layer. DFS uses backtracking to exhaustively search all nodes. Topological sorting outputs a linear ordering of vertices where edges only point forward.
The document discusses algorithms for finding minimum spanning trees (MSTs) in graphs. It describes:
1) The minimum spanning tree problem of finding a subset of edges in a graph that connects all vertices with minimum total weight.
2) Two algorithms - Kruskal's algorithm and Prim's algorithm - for solving this problem by growing an MST one edge at a time.
3) Kruskal's algorithm sorts edges by weight and adds edges between trees until all vertices are connected, running in O(E log V) time.
4) Prim's algorithm grows the MST from an initial vertex by adding minimum weight edges between the current tree and other vertices, using a priority queue
The document discusses approximation algorithms for NP-complete problems. It introduces the concept of approximation ratios, which measure how close an approximate solution from a polynomial-time algorithm is to the optimal solution. The document then provides examples of approximation algorithms with a ratio of 2 for the vertex cover and traveling salesman problems. It also discusses using backtracking to find all possible solutions to the subset sum problem.
The document discusses NP-completeness and polynomial time reduction algorithms. It begins by defining the complexity classes P, NP, and NPC. P problems can be solved in polynomial time, NP problems can be verified in polynomial time, and NPC problems are as hard as any NP problem. The document then explains that if we can reduce another problem A to a known NPC problem B in polynomial time, while preserving the answer, then A is also NPC. It gives the circuit satisfiability problem as an example finite NPC problem. Circuit satisfiability is defined as determining if a Boolean circuit composed of AND, OR, and NOT gates can be set to output 1. 3-CNF satisfiability is determining if a Boolean formula expressed
The document discusses string matching algorithms. It begins with an introduction to the string matching problem, which is finding all occurrences of a pattern string P in a target text T. It then summarizes several algorithms for solving this problem, including the naive brute force approach, Rabin-Karp algorithm, and matching with finite state automata. The document focuses on finite state automata approaches, explaining how to construct a finite state automaton from the pattern to efficiently solve the string matching problem in linear time.
This section provides an overview of elementary number theory concepts including:
- Divisibility and prime/composite numbers
- The division theorem and remainders
- Common divisors and the greatest common divisor (GCD)
- Euclid's algorithm for efficiently calculating the GCD of two numbers in O(logN) time
- Modular arithmetic and properties used to perform arithmetic operations modulo a number for large inputs.
This document discusses representations and operations for polynomials. It begins by defining polynomials and their coefficient and point-value representations. It then summarizes common operations like addition, multiplication, evaluation, and converting between representations. A key part discusses using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to multiply polynomials much more efficiently than brute force. The FFT takes advantage of evaluating polynomials at complex roots of unity to perform the multiplication in O(n log n) time versus O(n^2) for brute force.
There are three main limitations of algorithms:
1) Some problems cannot be solved by any algorithm.
2) Some problems can be solved algorithmically but not in polynomial time.
3) Some problems can be solved in polynomial time but existing algorithms are not efficient.
Lower bounds help establish the minimum efficiency of algorithms. There are four main methods to determine lower bounds: trivial counting arguments, information theory, adversary arguments, and problem reduction. Decision trees can also help analyze comparison-based algorithms and establish lower bounds.
The document introduces algorithms for sorting and searching tasks. It discusses sequential search, binary search, selection sort, bubble sort, merge sort, and quick sort algorithms. For each algorithm, it provides pseudocode to describe the steps, an example, and analysis of time complexity in the best, worst and average cases. The time complexities identified are Θ(n) for sequential search average case, Θ(log n) for binary search, Θ(n2) for selection, bubble and quick sort worst cases, and Θ(n log n) for merge and quick sort average cases.
The document discusses greedy algorithms and matroids. It provides examples of problems that can be solved using greedy approaches, including sorting an array, the coin change problem, and activity selection. It defines key aspects of greedy algorithms like the greedy choice property and optimal substructure. Huffman coding is presented as an application that constructs optimal prefix codes. Finally, it introduces matroids as an abstract structure related to problems solvable by greedy methods.
Dynamic programming (DP) is a powerful technique for solving optimization problems by breaking them down into overlapping subproblems and storing the results of already solved subproblems. The document provides examples of how DP can be applied to problems like rod cutting, matrix chain multiplication, and longest common subsequence. It explains the key elements of DP, including optimal substructure (subproblems can be solved independently and combined to solve the overall problem) and overlapping subproblems (subproblems are solved repeatedly).
The document discusses the divide and conquer algorithm design technique. It begins by defining divide and conquer as breaking a problem down into smaller subproblems, solving the subproblems, and then combining the solutions to solve the original problem. It then provides examples of applying divide and conquer to problems like matrix multiplication and finding the maximum subarray. The document also discusses analyzing divide and conquer recurrences using methods like recursion trees and the master theorem.
The document discusses algorithms and their analysis. It begins by defining an algorithm and listing requirements like being unambiguous and finite. It describes writing algorithms using pseudocode or flowcharts and proving their correctness. The document then discusses analyzing algorithms by measuring their time and space efficiency using orders of growth. It explains analyzing best, worst, and average cases and counting basic operations. Finally, it provides examples of analyzing simple algorithms involving if statements and loops.
This document outlines the topics covered in a course on design and analysis of algorithms. It is divided into 4 units that cover fundamental algorithm analysis techniques like asymptotic analysis, divide and conquer, dynamic programming and greedy algorithms. Additional topics include searching and sorting, limitations of algorithms, string matching, NP-completeness, approximation algorithms, elementary graph algorithms, minimum spanning trees, and single-source shortest paths. The goal is to teach students core algorithm design strategies and how to evaluate the efficiency of different approaches.
The document discusses various searching and sorting algorithms such as linear search, binary search, selection sort, bubble sort, and insertion sort. It provides descriptions of how each algorithm works and includes pseudocode examples to illustrate the sorting process step-by-step. Linear search compares elements one by one until the target is found or all elements have been checked. Binary search compares the target to the middle element to determine which half of the list to search next. Selection sort iterates to find the minimum element and swap it into place at each step.

Decolonizing Universal Design for LearningFrederic Fovet
UDL has gained in popularity over the last decade both in the K-12 and the post-secondary sectors. The usefulness of UDL to create inclusive learning experiences for the full array of diverse learners has been well documented in the literature, and there is now increasing scholarship examining the process of integrating UDL strategically across organisations. One concern, however, remains under-reported and under-researched. Much of the scholarship on UDL ironically remains while and Eurocentric. Even if UDL, as a discourse, considers the decolonization of the curriculum, it is abundantly clear that the research and advocacy related to UDL originates almost exclusively from the Global North and from a Euro-Caucasian authorship. It is argued that it is high time for the way UDL has been monopolized by Global North scholars and practitioners to be challenged. Voices discussing and framing UDL, from the Global South and Indigenous communities, must be amplified and showcased in order to rectify this glaring imbalance and contradiction.
This session represents an opportunity for the author to reflect on a volume he has just finished editing entitled Decolonizing UDL and to highlight and share insights into the key innovations, promising practices, and calls for change, originating from the Global South and Indigenous Communities, that have woven the canvas of this book. The session seeks to create a space for critical dialogue, for the challenging of existing power dynamics within the UDL scholarship, and for the emergence of transformative voices from underrepresented communities. The workshop will use the UDL principles scrupulously to engage participants in diverse ways (challenging single story approaches to the narrative that surrounds UDL implementation) , as well as offer multiple means of action and expression for them to gain ownership over the key themes and concerns of the session (by encouraging a broad range of interventions, contributions, and stances).

MBA
Master of Business Administration or MBA is one of the most popular post-graduate
programmes in India and abroad. The two-year programme is a gateway to a plethora of job
opportunities in the corporate world. Here are some important facts about the MBA program:
What makes MBA such a popular course is that students from any background -
including Science, Commerce and Humanities - can pursue it.
A regular MBA or Post-Graduation Diploma in Management (PGDM) is generally a
two-year course divided into four or six semesters. However, there are certain private
institutes that offer one-year PGDM programmes as well.
One can pursue MBA in various modes, such as, Regular, Online and Distance-
Education. Interested candidates can also find programmes customised based on their
professional experience such as Executive MBA.
Many management institutes offer Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) or Post-Graduate
Programme (PGP) in Management instead of an MBA degree. There is not much
difference between the two, but for their titles.
The full-time MBA is the most popular among all, and includes theory classes,
practical projects, and internships.
Fresh graduates as well as candidates with a few years of work experience opt for a
full-time MBA. Some colleges prefer fresh graduates while some colleges give higher
preference to candidates with a few years of work experience.
On the other hand, the Executive MBA is fit for candidates with more than 5 -10
years work experience as it is designed to enhance their managerial and leadership
skills to stay relevant in the job market.
Online MBA, Part Time MBA and Distance MBA programmes are ideal for
candidates who wish to study while working.
MBA Admissions
Admissions to all B-schools typically take place through an admission test. This test
can be one of the following types:
National Level Test conducted by an apex testing body or a top national B-school on
behalf of the other participating colleges. eg: CAT, MAT, CMAT or ATMA
5. State Level Test conducted by a state level testing body or a top state B-school on
behalf of the other participating colleges in that state. eg: TS- ICET, MAH-CET,
OJEE, KMAT, TANCET or APICET
Test conducted by a B-school for entrance to its own MBA programme. In some
cases, these scores can be accepted as a qualifying criteria by other B-schools as well.
eg: IIFT, XAT, NMAT, SNAP, IBSAT
Test conducted by a university for entrance to MBA programmes being offered by
colleges that are affiliated to it. eg: KIITEE, HPU MAT
CAT - 2020
Common Admission Test or CAT exam is a common aptitude test which is a gateway to 20
IIMs and over 1200 B-schools in India. CAT is conducted by the IIM in the month of
November in online mode in over 156 cities.
CAT Eligibility Criteria 2020: Academic Qualification
6. It should be noted that the official IIM admission policy does not state that candidates
with backlogs cannot apply for CAT exam. So, any candidate with a backlog in the final year
of graduation is also eligible to apply for CAT and complete the registration.
Reservation
It is extremely important for the CAT aspirants to be completely acquainted with the
CAT eligibility details before applying for the exam. During CAT 2020 registration,
candidates will be asked to fill in their details and submit respective documents on the portal.
In case of any discrepancies later, the candidature of the candidates can be cancelled without
prior notice. It should also be noted that being eligible for CAT does not guarantee admission
into the IIMs or any other B-school. CAT scores will be used to shortlist candidates for the
further rounds of selection (WAT and PI).
Exam Dates
This year, CAT 2020 exam will be conducted in the last week of November 2020
(tentative).
How to Apply
CAT exam registration is only available online. The application form is released by the
conducting IIM on the official CAT website and applicants are required to fill out the details.
Exam Pattern & Making Scheme
7. Syllabus
Eligibility Verification & Admission Process
If an applicant is shortlisted for WAT and PI by any of the IIMs, he/she has to comply
with the following eligibility verification:
Marksheets and Degree Certificate
Shortlisted candidates are required to produce all the original mark sheets and submit
attested photocopies in support of their eligibility at the time of their interview. Also, if a
candidate is selected for a particular programme, he/she is also required to submit the original
degree certificate and marksheets of all semesters/years along with their respective attested
copies at the time of joining the programme.
Reservation Category Requirements
For ST, SC, NC-OBC and DA candidates, if shortlisted, are required to show their
original caste/class and/or Disability certificate and submit a copy of the certificate at the
time of the interview. Also, a candidate selected for a programme will have to submit the
original certificate of qualifying degree and attested copy of the same for verification.
8. Candidates in the Final Year of Graduation
Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification
examination are required to produce an original certificate from the
Principal/Registrar/Director of the University/institution certifying that the candidate has
obtained 50% marks or equivalent (45% for the SC, ST, and DA category candidates) based
on latest available grades/marks at the time of interview. He/she is also required to submit an
attested copy of the original certificate (for category candidates).
For the Post Graduate Programmes of IIMs, if the candidates are selected, they
will be allowed to join the programme PROVISIONALLY ONLY if they submit a
certificate from the Registrar/Principal of their college/institute mentioning that they
have completed all the necessary requirements including appearing for supplementary
exams, if any (the results may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor’s
degree/ equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. Also, one must
obtain at least 50% marks or equivalent grade and should submit an attested copy of
the graduation marksheets and their qualifying degree certificate.
The deadline for submission of the mark sheet and the certificate is December
31, 2020 (Tentative). IIMs also state that “NON FULFILLMENT OF THIS
CONDITION WILL AUTOMATICALLY RESULT IN THE CANCELLATION OF
THE PROVISIONAL ADMISSION.” In such cases, provisional admission will also
be cancelled if it is found that the certificate is incorrect or has any discrepancies later.
IIMs does not allow any individual to join any of their programmes in case a
candidate fails to complete all the requirements for a bachelor degree on or before
June (last week) 2020. After June 2020, the IIMs would allow admissions to any
candidate.
It should be noted that individual IIM shortlists candidates for their second stage of
selection independently. The selection process includes a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a
Personal Interview (PI). The performance of individuals in CAT 2020 exam will be an
important component in the overall selection process. IIMs also consider previous academic
records of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs while shortlisting
and ranking the candidates at various stages during the admission process. The processes,
academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across
IIMs.

9. B - schools
Abbreviation of business school, an educational institution that focuses on teaching
business-related courses. While business schools may offer courses ranging from
undergraduate degrees to postdoctoral programs, their prime offering is the Master of
Business Administration (MBA) program.
To get admission into an MBA Programme one has to write entrance exams like
CAT,/SNAP/XAT/NMAT. Apart from these, there are a lot of exams conducted by private
universities for MBA admission.
India has at least 5,500 B-schools in operation now, but including unapproved
institutes could take that number much higher.
Is IBS and ISB different?
would you compare ISB and IBS. Interchanging the letters would not mean, both are
same or different. ISB is out of reach college. ... IBS is regular B-School, with fees of ISB
and quality of Amity.
