• In India, currently there are two types of voting system in practice.
• These are secret Ballet paper and Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), but both of
the process have some limitations.
• The current voting system is not safe and secure too.
• The voters need to go to distributed places like polling booths and stand in a long
queue to cast their vote, because of these reasons most of the people miss their
chance of voting.
5. • The voter who is not eligible can also cast its vote by fake means which may lead to
various problems.
• So to overcome this a new authentication technique in online voting system using
facial recognition of the voter can be used

The motivation behind the development of an online voting system that employs facial
recognition registration as well as the use of a one-time password generated for each
voter per election, which will allow voters to participate in the elections regardless of
their physical location and to reduce the faux votes.

• To create a secured online voting platform where authenticity of votes and voters
are ensured with the use of mechanisms such as facial recognition and one – time

camera and store the face sample in the server database for authentication.
• It is a four level security procedure in which first one is registration second one is
unique id verification (OTP), third one is voter id verification, fourth one is face
recognition.
• System checks whatever unique id and voter id entered by the voter is valid or
not.
• If unique id or voter id is correct than system will take image of voter and
compare with the respective image in the database or server.

• If the image in database is matching with the captured image of the voter, then
he/she is allowed to cast the vote.
• On the voting page all the party election symbols /buttons will be there. Voter can
cast their vote.
• As soon as voter casts the vote it is automatically redirected to a logout page so
that a voter can give only one vote.
• On counting form only election commission authorized user can login with the
secure id and password if both id and password is correct then voting process
will be continued.

• As an extreme case, it was claimed by the Detroit Police Chief that
facial recognition software misidentifies subjects 95% of the time.
• Regardless of the other factors, the main barrier to implementing facial
recognition is the risk to voter’s privacy. Depending on the
implementation, voter’s private data could be leaked in multiple ways.

• SMART VOTING MACHINE based on face recognition was mainly intended to
implement a face recognition based advanced Smart Voting Machine which is four
factor authentication method which helps in free and fair way of conducting elections
which are basis for democratic country like India.
• The voters can cast their vote from anywhere by logging in to smart voting system
through internet.
• As every operation is performed through internet connectivity so, it is one-time
investment for government.
• Voters location is not important but their voting is important.
