This document summarizes a seminar presentation on CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture). CORBA is a distributed, object-oriented platform that allows software components written in multiple computer languages and running on multiple operating systems to communicate. It defines standards for object-oriented remote procedure calls (RPC) and object services. The Object Management Group (OMG) created CORBA specifications to provide interoperability among distributed applications. Major advantages of CORBA include language interoperability, distribution, and support for industry standards. However, CORBA also has disadvantages like immaturity and lack of features for large-scale applications.
