Speaker:
- Jianjian Xie (Staff Software Engineer, Alluxio)
As Trino users increasingly rely on cloud object storage for retrieving data, speed and cloud cost have become major challenges. The separation of compute and storage creates latency challenges when querying datasets; scanning data between storage and compute tiers becomes I/O bound. On the other hand, cloud API costs related to GET/LIST operations and cross-region data transfer add up quickly.
The newly introduced Trino file system cache by Alluxio aims to overcome the above challenges. In this session, Jianjian will dive into Trino data caching strategies, the latest test results, and discuss the multi-level caching architecture. This architecture makes Trino 10x faster for data lakes of any scale, from GB to EB.
What you will learn:
- Challenges relating to the speed and costs of running Trino in the cloud
- The new Trino file system cache feature overview, including the latest development status and test results
- A multi-level cache framework for maximized speed, including Trino file system cache and Alluxio distributed cache
- Real-world cases, including a large online payment firm and a top ridesharing company
- The future roadmap of Trino file system cache and Trino-Alluxio integration

8. PROJECT PERPOSE
College management system is an integrated web application that handles various academic
and non academic activities of a College/Academic Institute. The system can access by every
students/faculties/employees of the institution through internet connected computers or
internet enabled mobile devices with the aid of his user name and password.
Every user will have a customized home page with his/her profile management facilities.
Through links that displays in the home page the user can access different options of the
website assigned to him.Though the system allows access to every one there is a significant
security risk involved in this project.
To tackle this problem we suggest a modular structure in the proposed system and a
complete isolation of the financial and administrative modules from the public portal. Only
trusted IPs can access these modules. Web services will interact to the financial and
administrative modules to fetch necessary information to display in the public portal.
Although a standard password policy will be followed in the designing of the system to
prevent the possibilities of malicious activities of itching users.A self driven module in the
proposed system will accomplish the automated tasks such as Email Alerts, SMS alerts,
Notifications to the administrator etc.

9. INITIAL INVESTIGATION
The first phase of software project is to gather requirements. Gathering software
requirements begins as a creative brainstorming process in which the goal is to develop an
idea for a new and modules that no other software vendor has thought. New software
modules ideas normally developed as a result of analyzing the project .
The main function of requirements gathering phase is to take an abstract idea that fills a
particular need or that solves a particular problem and create a real-world project with a
particular set of objectives, timeline and team.

30. Future Enhancements:
The project has a very vast scope in future. The project can be implemented on intranet in
future. Project can be updated in near future as and when requirement for the same arises, as
it is very flexible in terms of expansion. With the proposed software of database Space
Manager ready and fully functional the client is now able to manage and hence run the entire
work in a much better, accurate and error free manner. The following are the future scope for
the project.
Online Examination module would be introduced to conduct online examinations.
Further, the faculty can upload the videos of their lectures on this site, and students who
had missed those classes can view those videos.
Discontinue of particular student eliminate potential attendance.
