1) The area of a washer is found by calculating the area of the outer circle and subtracting the area of the inner circle.
2) The area of a shaded region within a square and circle is found by calculating the area of the square and subtracting the area of the circle.

This document contains field observation data from a theodolite survey including station lines, interior angles, bearings, coordinates, and calculations of corrected interior angles and coordinates. It lists 10 stations with their line lengths, observed and corrected interior angles, calculated bearings, and total and corrected latitude and departure coordinates. It also shows the calculation of the total interior angle error and equal distribution of the correction to each station interior angle.
The document discusses singular value decomposition (SVD), which is a way to decompose a matrix A into three matrices: A = UΣV^T. U and V are orthogonal matrices, and Σ is a diagonal matrix containing the singular values of A. SVD can be used to perform dimensionality reduction by approximating A using only the top k singular values/vectors in Σ, U, and V^T. This reduces the number of parameters needed to represent A while retaining most of its information.
The document discusses the transmission system in machining. The transmission system converts the torque and speed (rotations) from the machine into different torque and speeds to be delivered to the final drive. This conversion changes the high rotational speed into lower but more powerful speed, or vice versa. It then provides tables of rotational speeds for different machine modes and gears. It analyzes the gear relationships and interacting gears for each machine mode.
Greenfield projects are difficult to do well because they require predicting the future accurately over a long period of time. It is better to focus on designing systems that can evolve and change easily in response to feedback rather than attempting to build a complete solution from scratch. Modular designs that allow replacing parts independently and retirement planning can help systems adapt and last through multiple generations.

4. The third problem extends the second problem by adding another section and calculating the forces and moments along the truss for varying values of x.
This document discusses discrete-time signals and their representation as a summation of weighted unit impulse functions. It describes how a continuous-time signal can be represented as a discrete-time signal by sampling at regular time intervals, and how this discrete-time representation can then be reconstructed into a continuous-time signal using techniques like zero-order hold and first-order hold. It also introduces the z-transform which allows analyzing discrete-time signals in the frequency domain.

This document contains calculations and equations related to diode circuits. It defines terms like reverse saturation current (IS), thermal voltage (VT), and determines values like junction voltage (VZ) and terminal voltages (VS) for various diode circuits. Key results include:
- The terminal voltage VS is equal to the junction voltage VZ when the applied voltage VE is less than VZ.
- When VE is greater than VZ, VS takes on a value between 0V and VE depending on the resistor ratios.
- For a circuit with VE = 25V, VZ = 12V, and resistor values of 2kΩ and 1.2kΩ, the calculated terminal voltage is VS = 15.
