Last weekend, Microsoft gave its best with its Xbox Games Showcase, sharing trailers and news for a series of very interesting projects.
We know that some games, like Avowed and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will be released in 2024, and that others, like Doom: The Dark Ages, Fable, and South of Midnight, will be launched in 2025. Others, like Perfect Dark and Gears of War: E-Day, don’t currently have a release date.
In their latest newsletter, Tom Warren from The Verge provides information about the release dates of some of Microsoft’s upcoming games.
According to Warren, the new Fable will arrive sometime between October and December 2025, which will probably make it Team Green’s big holiday game for next year.
The Gears of War: E-Day release date is closer than expected
Regarding Gears of War: E-Day, Warren caught word that it’ll arrive at some point in 2025, maybe even before Fable. Warren cautions that Gears’ plans may have changed, and that the absence of an official release window may be a designed strategy to give The Coalition developers “a little breathing room”.
But ultimately, it seems this is not a case of Microsoft releasing a teaser trailer for something that’s just started development, which they’ve done in the past.
Of course, this news should be taken with caution, although Warren has a solid track record when it comes to details leaked about Xbox. If these rumors are confirmed, 2025 is shaping up to be a strong year for Xbox, at least as far as software is concerned. Who knows how the Xbox hardware will be by then.
Both Fable and Gears of War: E-Day have been announced for PC and Xbox Series X/S. What do you think? We think it’s amazing, and we have a feeling the next two years are going to be absolutely crazy.
