but outcome is celebrated
We are kind and supportive to each other, and acknowledge each
other's efforts when someone goes above and beyond. But we know
that to have the kind of impact we want to have in the world, it takes a
commitment to achieving our goals with excellence and proactivity. It
doesn't mean creating an imbalance in our lives, or being hostile when
someone has striven and failed. But it does mean setting our sights on
success rather than just on performance, so our actions are focused on
what will really make a difference.
Putting this into practice
We hold the applause until the task
is complete. We recognise there
are many outcomes that deserve
celebration, from an annual target
being hit to a well-run team social
event. We manage our goals and
allocated tasks and prioritise
achieving them, not just on keeping
many plates spinning.
Keeping perspective
There is no reward without risk,
and some gambles we take will
fail. Sometimes the effort was
worthwhile even if we didn't
achieve our outcome,
especially if we learnt and grew
from the experience.

We are creating a new product category that is re-imagining the way
we work and think. There are many ways to make decisions about how
to achieve this. The most common way is to look at what has been done
in the past and build upon it; ask what people have done before and
deliver it; analyse the data that has been collected and infer from it.

come from augmenting data with imagination, boldness, and well-honed

know where we stand, and we can get where we want to go faster. So we
are open and honest: about the status of our projects, and with
constructive input for each other. And we welcome openness and
honesty towards ourselves and our work, even if it can be hard to hear.
We value integrity, and we do the right thing, even when no one is
looking.

It is always OK to challenge
assumptions that you think might
be faulty. It is always OK to hold
someone to account if you think
that their actions are not delivering
the objectives that were agreed. We
make it easy for the recipient of our
messages to understand and
respond to us, such as including the
context that they require and being
clear about what we'd like them to
do in response and when. We agree
consistent language across our
projects so that each team member
uses the same words to refer to the
same things.
Keeping perspective
It is equally important to accept
people challenging your
assumptions and holding you to
account. See it as a valuable
opportunity to check if you are
on the right course. When
somebody reports an issue, we
don't shoot the messenger. We
focus on fixing it as a team, not
on figuring out whose fault it was.

But we know that to have the kind of impact we want to have in the world, it takes a commitment to achieving our goals with excellence and proactivity. It doesn't mean creating an imbalance in our lives, or being hostile when someone has striven and failed. But it does mean setting our sights on success rather than just on performance, so our actions are focused on what will really make a difference. Putting this into practice We hold the applause until the task is complete. We recognise there are many outcomes that deserve celebration, from an annual target being hit to a well-run team social event. We manage our goals and allocated tasks and prioritise achieving them, not just on keeping many plates spinning.
