The Prophet classified people into three groups based on how they respond to guidance. He compared guidance to rain falling on three types of land: good land that accepts water and produces vegetation; land that preserves water for drinking and irrigation; and porous land that retains no water and produces nothing. Similarly, there are people with hearts like good land that accept guidance, people with hearts like preserving land that safeguard knowledge, and people with hearts like porous land that accept no guidance. The hadith indicates different attitudes towards the Prophet's message and their consequences.
