Valdimir Kamburov earned a master's degree in forest management from the University of Forestry in Bulgaria in 2000. He completed 152.5 credits over five years with a grade point average of 3.96. His coursework covered topics such as regional economics, botany, ecology, silviculture, and business planning. World Education Services evaluated his credentials and determined his master's degree to be equivalent to a Canadian bachelor's and master's degree.
RNA processing is the set of post-transcriptional modifications that produce a mature RNA molecule from a primary transcript in eukaryotic cells. This involves adding a 5' cap, polyadenylating the 3' end, and splicing out introns. Polyadenylation involves cleavage of the nascent RNA downstream of the AAUAAA sequence by ribonuclease, followed by addition of around 200 adenine nucleotides to the 3' end by poly(A) polymerase. The spliceosome, composed of small nuclear RNAs and proteins, facilitates splicing by binding to splice sites on the RNA and catalyzing transesterification reactions to remove introns and ligate exons.
- Transcription in eukaryotes is carried out by three RNA polymerases (RNAP I, II, III) that synthesize different RNA molecules and require transcription factors.
- RNAP II transcribes protein-coding genes and initiation requires promoter elements like TATA boxes located upstream of genes.
- Introns, or intervening sequences, are found within most eukaryotic genes and can exceed exon sequences in length. Introns are excised through different splicing mechanisms for mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA.
- Splicing of mRNA introns involves a spliceosome complex containing small nuclear RNAs that catalyzes two transesterification reactions joining exons.
- Crick proposed the "wobble hypothesis" to explain how more than one codon can direct the synthesis of a single amino acid, given there are fewer tRNAs than codons.
- The hypothesis suggests the third nucleotide in a codon is not as important in binding to the tRNA anticodon. The first two nucleotides specify the amino acid.
- At the wobble position, the third nucleotide in the codon can bind in non-standard ways ("wobble") to the first nucleotide in the anticodon, allowing a single tRNA to bind to multiple codons and explain the degeneracy of the genetic code.
Elijah Macharia Ndung'u provides his curriculum vitae. He has a PhD in psychology from Alpen-Adria University in Austria and masters and bachelors degrees from universities in Kenya. His career objective is to use his skills in counseling, social work, and research to enhance socio-economic and psychosocial well-being. Structure and function of Messenger RNA (mRNA )ICHHA PURAK
This presentation of 42 slides delivers information about structure, function synthesis , life span of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic messenger RNA also about role in protein sorting and targetting
The document discusses the basic principles of gene expression from DNA to protein. It describes transcription, which is the synthesis of RNA from a DNA template, and translation, which is the synthesis of proteins from mRNA templates using ribosomes. In eukaryotes, transcription requires RNA polymerases and other transcription factors to initiate transcription from DNA. The primary transcript then undergoes processing including 5' capping, 3' polyadenylation, and splicing to form mature mRNA. The mRNA is then translated by ribosomes to produce proteins.

Translation in eukaryotes involves three main steps - initiation, elongation, and termination. Initiation begins with the dissociation of ribosomes into subunits, followed by the formation of initiation complexes involving initiation factors and met-tRNA binding to the 40S subunit. Elongation cyclicly adds amino acids to the growing polypeptide chain through aminoacyl-tRNA binding, peptide bond formation, and translocation. Termination occurs when a release factor binds to a stop codon, causing the ribosomal subunits to separate and release the completed polypeptide chain. Ribosomal recycling then dissociates remaining mRNA and tRNAs to recycle the ribosome.
Translation is the process by which proteins are synthesized from messenger RNA (mRNA) in eukaryotes, which are organisms with membrane-bound nuclei. Translation involves mRNA being decoded on ribosomes into a polypeptide chain. It occurs through three main steps - initiation, elongation, and termination. Initiation involves the small ribosomal subunit binding to the 5' end of mRNA and scanning for the start codon. Elongation is the sequential addition of amino acids specified by the mRNA codons. Termination occurs when a stop codon is reached and release factors cause the ribosome to dissociate and release the completed protein.
Post-transcriptional modifications help process primary transcripts into mRNA in three main ways: 1) 5' capping protects the transcript and aids export from the nucleus, 2) Polyadenylation aids stability and transport, and 3) Splicing removes introns and ligates exons to form mature mRNA. In eukaryotes, this occurs in the nucleus and is essential for efficient translation. It can also result in alternative splicing to increase protein diversity from a single gene.
Regulation of gene expression in prokaryotes and virusesNOOR ARSHIA
Regulation of gene expression in prokaryotes and viruses includes gene expression mechanism of prokaryotes such as lac operon ,trp operon, feedback inhibition, types of temporal response, positive and negative gene regulation. It also includes mechanisms such as reverse transcriptase in viruses.
RNA polymerase II catalyzes the transcription of DNA into precursors of mRNA, snRNA, and microRNA. The initiation of transcription involves transcription factors assembling with RNA polymerase II at the promoter region of DNA. Termination of transcription does not involve specific signals, and RNA polymerase II can continue transcribing thousands of base pairs past the gene end. However, the transcript is cleaved before transcription is fully completed. RNA polymerase II has 10-12 subunits that perform various functions like maintaining contact with DNA and regulating polymerase function.
Ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) is a type of non-coding RNA that is the primary component of ribosomes and essential for protein synthesis. rRNA is transcribed from ribosomal DNA and binds with ribosomal proteins to form the small and large ribosomal subunits. rRNA folds into stem loops that allow it to interact with mRNA and tRNA to catalyze the translation of mRNA into proteins. rRNA makes up about 80% of cellular RNA and plays critical roles in the ribosome's peptidyl transferase activity through conserved sequences and structures.
This document outlines the structure and topics to be covered in a lecture on eukaryotic gene regulation. The lecture will be divided into two parts. Part 1 will review basics such as the definition of a gene, DNA structure, transcription, mRNA processing, translation, and mutations. Part 2 will cover gene structure and function, forms of gene regulation including transcription factors and epigenetic mechanisms, and analysis of gene expression using techniques like RNA-seq. Source materials and references are also provided.
Most bacteria are free-living organisms that grow by increasing
in mass and then divide by binary fission.
Growth and division are controlled by genes, the expression
of which must be regulated appropriately. Genes
whose activity is controlled in response to the needs of a
cell or organism are called regulated genes. All organisms
also have a large number of genes whose products
are essential to the normal functioning of a growing and
dividing cell, no matter what the conditions are. These
genes are always active in growing cells and are known as
constitutive genes or housekeeping genes; examples include
genes that code for the enzymes needed for protein
synthesis and glucose metabolism. Note that all genes are
regulated on some level. If normal cell function is impaired
for some reason, the expression of all genes, including
constitutive genes, is reduced by regulatory
mechanisms. Thus, the distinction between regulated
and constitutive genes is somewhat arbitrary.
The document provides information on the genetic code and the process of translation. It defines the genetic code as the system of nucleotide sequences that designate amino acid sequences during translation. There are 3 key points:
1. The genetic code is universal, with some minor exceptions, where certain codons code for different amino acids in bacteria and mitochondrial DNA. It uses 64 possible triplet codon combinations of A, C, G, and U nucleotides to specify 20 amino acids.
2. Translation is the process by which the genetic code is read to produce proteins. It occurs via five stages - initiation, elongation, termination, and post-translational modification - involving messenger RNA, transfer RNA, ribosomes and other factors.
3
Eukaryotic transcription is the elaborate process that eukaryotic cells use to copy genetic information stored in DNA into units of transportable complementary RNA replica.
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
Transcription is more complicated in eukaryotes than in prokaryotes because
eukaryotes possess three different classes of RNA polymerases and because of the
way in which transcripts are processed to their functional forms.
More proteins and transcription factors are involved in eukaryotic transcription.
The document is a scanned receipt from a grocery store purchase on June 15th, 2022 totaling $58.37. It lists items bought including ground beef, chicken breasts, tortillas, cheese, and produce such as tomatoes, lettuce, and onions. The receipt shows the item prices, taxes, and total amount due.

Ganchen Dong will be awarded the Master's degree at the University's graduation ceremonies to be held in September 2016.
Bacteria regulate gene expression through operons, which are groups of functionally related genes that are controlled together. Operons can be regulated positively or negatively in response to environmental conditions. The lac operon in E. coli controls the transport and metabolism of lactose and consists of structural genes regulated by a promoter, terminator, and repressor. The lac operon is negatively regulated - the lac repressor normally binds the operator to prevent transcription, but is released when bound by the inducer allolactose, allowing expression. Transcription is also controlled by the availability of glucose and regulated by the catabolite activator protein CAP.
