The movie and TV industry is migrating from 2K to 4K video, which quadruples the amount of digital data. This transition requires upgrading Fibre Channel SAN infrastructures from 4Gb/s to 16Gb/s to allow for real-time editing of uncompressed 4K video. 4K cameras can generate over 1TB of data per hour, requiring hundreds of terabytes of storage. Upgrading digital transfer stations from 1GbE to 10GbE network connections has increased throughput by 4x.
