GOG Galaxy is a free video game utility program that enables you to unite all of your games and friends lists together. Developed by GOG, this software is a digital game launcher for GOG.com that’s compatible with most of the popular gaming launchers offered by different game stores. What is GOG Galaxy?

GOG.com, also previously known as “Good Old Games”, is a digital distribution platform for video games and films operated by GOG, which is a subsidiary of CD Projekt—best known for The Witcher video game series. On the other hand, GOG Galaxy is its intuitive gaming client that can combine all of your PC’s games into one convenient location. With it, you can import your games so you can organize a much better library.

They’ll be displayed on one page, segregated into the platform they come from—whether it’s Steam, Origin, Epic Games, or even on consoles. You can chat with them, see their own stats, and even compete with them in the leaderboards. Another great feature is the Rollback function, which lets you restore your games to prior states.

Improvements to the service

Since its launch, the indie gaming client GOG Galaxy has implemented various changes and improvements to its platform, ensuring that it always provides nothing but top-notch service. First, it added the “From your wishlist” section to the Discover view, giving quick access to information about users’ desired games. Said feature also eliminates the frustration of missing releases or special offers. Besides that, a quick preview feature was also added to the Discover view.

Through that, users can hover over game covers to see details such as ratings, features, tags, and screenshots. Additionally, an improved tray icon menu facilitates quicker game launches, addressing a common user request. Speaking of user interface improvements — the platform has also undergone a UI overhaul to produce a more intuitive experience for gamers. The “Deals” section was renamed “GOG Store,” offering quick access to both current deals and the user’s cart.

Meanwhile, a “Welcome offer” banner was introduced for new users, ensuring they don’t miss out on exclusive deals. Furthermore, features such as active download progress visibility on the taskbar and customizable behavior settings were added to enhance user convenience further. Bugs that interrupt swift issue resolution for users were squashed, as well. Finally, the platform is collaborating with the Amazon Luna cloud gaming service, so it can expand its cross-platform compatibility.

All in all, GOG Galaxy is a great platform to use if you’d like to organize your gaming collection. While it doesn’t actually negate the need for all those launchers, it’s still a handy program to use when you have too many games across various game stores.
