Just about everyone who both uses a desktop computing system, be it an all-in-one iMac or otherwise, and appreciates good audio also leverages some kind of tabletop speaker system (or gigantic studio speakers on stands like I do). Likely the same number of folks also implement some kind of sound system on their smart TV home theater or gaming rig, but what about a sound bar for the desktop? That’s where the seasoned audio vets at BlueAnt and the brand’s new Soundblade desktop sound bar come into play. Featuring a (Red Dot award-winning) design made to rest beneath your computer monitor, iMac, or otherwise, the new audio device presents an arguably more elegant audio solution for the desktop that saves space, looks super clean, and, hopefully (probably) sounds great. BlueAnt’s Soundblade under-monitor sound bar has arrived
BlueAnt – a team of passionate music lovers and engineers that have been in the game for 20 years – is now ready to unleash its new Soundblade onto the world. After its initial debut at CES 2024 earlier this year, the new under-monitor audio solution is now available for purchase at $199.99 via Amazon and Best Buy. Currently available in the black and white colorways, starting next month it will arrive in a more colorful spectrum that looks like it matches up nicely with the current-generation iMac lineup (pink, blue, and green).
The Soundblade is very much what it sounds like here – a thin, streamlined sound bar that doubles as a monitor riser. Made to rest beneath your desktop display, it frees up precious space on your work or gaming surface while enhancing your audio quality.
It delivers 120 watts of what the brand describes as “thundering audio and deep bass, crystal-clear dialogue, rich music, and dynamic sound effects.” This is made possible by the internal 80mm neodymium subwoofer, a pair of neodymium drivers, double voice coils, and cone racetrack drivers.
Soundblade amplifies the power output while maintaining lower distortion levels, ensuring that every note and sound effect is delivered with crystal-clear precision.
It’s not just about music though, the brand is also fine-tuning the Soundblade’s internals to provide a miniature home theater experience at your desk with a 2.1 channel sound setup that is said to capture “the full impact of cinematic storytelling” and “an unprecedented level of immersion” for gamers. Whether that is the case or not remains to be seen (heard), but early impressions seem to be positive.
It is rated to be compatible with PC, Mac, PS5, and PS4, but with Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C, and an auxiliary hook up at the ready, that list should be much longer.
Some additional interesting features on hand here include mobile phone USB-C audio support, the ability to switch between PC USB-C connectivity, the one-touch control on the unit, an included remote control, and three built-inEQ curves: Game, Movies, Music.
While these audio products are always something you have to hear for yourself to really know if you’re going to love it, grabbing one from Amazon or Best Buy and then just returning it if it sucks is always an option right? I mean you can watch all of the videos you want, but until it’s in front of you, you’ll never really know.
And am I crazy? Or wouldn’t this thing look super cool resting underneath the matching iMac colorway? I guess it depends whether or not it actually does match Apple’s somewhat particular tones.
