Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy Book 4 Edge, its first laptop with the Snapdragon X Elite chipset. It gets the Copilot+ PC badge from Microsoft, which means it has a powerful NPU (45 TOPS) for offline AI processing.

This announcement comes moments after Microsoft's special event, where the company launched its own Surface laptop with the same Snapdragon chip and showcased Snapdragon-powered Windows laptops from all other OEMs.

Galaxy Book 4 Edge brings Galaxy AI to Samsung's laptops

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge comes in two sizes: 14-inch (Edge) and 16-inch (Edge Pro). Both laptops use the Snapdragon X Elite processor with 12 CPU cores, Adreno GPU, and a dedicated NPU with 45 TOPS performance. They both run ARM64-optimized Windows 11 and promise extremely long battery life. They have 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

They have Dynamic AMOLED 2x touchscreens with 3K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 120% color gamut coverage, a ten-point multitouch, and an anti-reflection coating. They will likely be able to run HDR content through apps like Netflix and Prime Video.

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge (14-inch) has a tenkeyless keyboard, two USB 4.0 (Thunderbolt 3) ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Galaxy Book 4 Edge has all those features and replaces the tenkeyless keyboard with a full-sized one with a numpad. It also has an additional USB Type-A port and a microSD card slot.

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge Pro has a 61.8Wh battery and 65W charging. The Galaxy Book 4 Edge has a 55.9Wh battery. They both likely feature Full HD webcams (not confirmed yet), stereo speakers, and fingerprint readers with Windows Hello. They also feature Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7.

Samsung MX CEO TM Roh said, “The Galaxy Book4 Edge expands our vision of AI connectivity – bridging the gap between mobile and PC, while democratizing AI experiences that change the way we operate each and every day. This next-generation AI PC unlocks new levels of computing performance, made possible by our proven Samsung Galaxy interface and open collaboration with industry leaders to bring our users world-class hardware and software solutions.

Galaxy Book 4 Edge prices, pre-order, and availability

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge will be available for pre-order today. It costs $1,349.99 for the 14-inch model with 16GB RAM and 512GB  storage. The version with a 16-inch screen is priced at $1,449.99, and if you upgrade it to 1TB storage, you have to shell out $1,749.99. The laptop will start shipping in the USA on June 18, 2024.

To sweeten the deal, Samsung will bundle a 50-inch Crystal UHD 4K TV (DU7200) worth $300 for free if you pre-order the new laptop.
