Marketing Manager, Retail DTC & Whsl

Summary: alexanderwang is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marketing Manager, Retail to join the brand’s HQ team, based in New York City. As the Marketing Manager, Retail you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives to drive awareness, increase market share, and support business growth across reach retail vertical (see below).


Key retail verticals which the Retail Marketing Manager will be operating across:


- DTC (domestic & international)

- Wholesale (domestic & international)

- Distribution (international)


In collaboration with the senior team, the Marketing Manager, Retail will manage & optimize an “always on” retail calendar for both local and international markets. Key to success in this role, will be for the candidate’s capability to identify important moments per market, which the business can leverage to maximize commercial opportunities, paired with robust community building.


The Marketing Manager, Retail will be responsible for developing and executing strategic IRL marketing plans to drive sales and brand awareness across our DTC, wholesale, and retail channels. They will work closely with Sales, Operations, VM, Art and the Marketing team to ensure the alexanderwang brand lands with clarity, taste, relevance and cultural resonance within each community and market.


The Marketing Manager, Retail is vital to our brand and supports the Retail Marketing Director in achieving business goals - including commercial & operational objectives. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing intelligent, comprehensive and high-impact retail marketing programs, curated per vertical, with a unique understanding of how cultural and social nuances can drive business and brand.



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with internal and external wholesale partners to identify market specific opportunities and strategies for client activations.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive pipe-line of retail marketing activations which ladder into HQ & global business objectives.
  • Cultivate, foster, and manage key relationships important to overall business growth, awareness and brand perception – such as Creators, Vendors, etc
  • In alignment with the season’s brand marketing strategy and direction, collaborate with wholesale, distribution and international teams to identify local market opportunities to leverage support & the achievement of sales targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (both HQ and international) including sales, buying & planning, creative services, etc to develop impactful retail marketing campaigns which are tailored to international markets.
  • Manage the global retail marketing calendar at both HQ and international level.
  • Develop event and activation collateral briefs to share across all cross-functional and relevant teams, including post-event reports.
  • Drive brand positioning efforts across all international markets ensuring consistency while adapting to local cultural nuances.
  • Directly overseeing retail content development for various channels including digital platforms (websites, social media), that resonates with the target audience/s in each market (local and international).
  • Manage relationships with external agencies/vendors/partners involved in executing retail marketing activations, locally and international.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as awareness & commercial metrics, in-store traffic/conversion rates etc., and analyze data insights regularly to optimize each campaign’s effectiveness.



Preferred Experience:


  • Proven marketing activation experience in APAC, North America and EMEA.
  • Proven experience collaborating with international partners and vendors.
  • Ostensible past experience in leveraging market-specific moments (i.e. cultural and social happenings), which generated commercial & retail value for a retail brand.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Retail Marketing Manager or similar role (Communications, PR, etc) within the fashion industry (or comparable industry).
  • In-depth knowledge of international markets dynamics & cultural differences/nuances
  • Comfortable with reading data and transforming into actional insight and recommendations for relevant markets and teams.
  • Solid understanding of community building in key markets – such as APAC, EMEA and North America
  • Excellent communication skills both written & verbal; ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines, including accountability and reporting.
  • Passion for brand building in local and international markets
  • Passion for subversive and out of the box critical thinking around what is the future of retail, community building and channel specific UX for customers
  • Ability to establish relationships with and influence senior leaders internally and externally.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position is from $100,000 to $110,000, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
