Edge comes from finding a different path and adding efficiency to a process. Following the path of others rarely produces anything more than average. You must explore and be willing to suggest alternatives that may be rejected by your peers. That's fine. Humble yourself and take the rejection and use it as a building block. There literally is no creativity without risk. Buy into it and wake up to the fact that when you are comfortable, you're likely not pushing the line and need to explore more deeply.

In my experience, there is nothing more. important than diversity of thought, when you're trying to find the best solutions for your customers and for your organization. When you're trying to define creative ways of solving a problem, you have to leverage the diversity of thought that exists within your team and your organization. And if you don't have that, then that's a great moment to start investing in creating that diversity within your team and organization.

I have worked with a team in the past where there were just men. Same ethnic background. Same age demographic. They went to the same clubs, watched the same sports and had the same social circle. They were great together as a team. But I also worked with a team which was a lot more diverse. Different age groups. Diverse ethnic backgrounds. Even their work experience and academic backgrounds were widely different from one another. Guess what team was just better? You guessed it, the 2nd. When different mindsets come together on one table. Everybody learns new things. Everybody grows. There's an exchange of ideas and information and perspectives that simply is not possible in the first team I mentioned.
Curiosity drives innovation. As a leader, nurture an environment where questioning the status quo is not only accepted but encouraged. Promote a culture of lifelong learning and exploration, where team members are motivated to seek knowledge and develop new skills. I came across this hack in a leadership conference and tried casually, the results were amazing.
